So sorry. I know how hard it is. One of our local interpreters recently died the same way. I ended up the one who had to stay and interpret at church the day of her funeral while my co-interpreter went to the funeral. Very hard. Keeping you in my prayers.

Mscott, i'm so sorry for your loss.

Even though you work in the ER and are supposed to be "used to this" kind of thing, I find that asking you to stay on and work while all this is going on with a co-worker isn't really fair. I can't even imagine how surreal that whole day was for you.

How horrible.

I wanted to mention, though, that I was suprised that other people were suprised that you had to return to work afterwards. I mean, who else would do the job? I would take it for granted that you would have to finish the shift. And I wanted to mention this because as awful as this was, I think nurses I know face things about as awful on a regular basis, and they keep on doing thier job. So, not that taking anyone for granted is good, but the fact that this is something we can take for granted is really a testiment to the amazing work that you do.

Hugs and prayers for you, the family, and your coworkers. That is so tragic. I remember when I was working at the hospital and we lost three in the time I was there...the Dir. of Medical Records, a nurse, and someone in Medical Staff. It was unreal. I can't imagine if it had been anyone I directly worked with.
