I was told by a friend that the bus shot this morning was a commuter bus that picks kids up for school because they don't have regular school buses--anyone from the area know if that's true? She said that her friend, whose husband is an agent, told her not to let her kids ride the school bus, that the bus hit this morning was a bus that takes kids to school, that the bus was stopped because the first girl getting on had left something at home and ran back to get it so the bus driver was standing there waiting for her. She said the driver had just finished his first run and was starting the second. It seems a little early to be a school bus run, but high schools do start early around here.

well in montgomery county we do have regular school buses, so i don't think that story could be totally true.

i suppose a student could be on the bus, but i don't think it would be a commuter bus specifically for students b/c mc has it's own buses.

dc doesn't bus public school students, maybe that is what your friend was thinking of.

It's quite possible she was too upset to get the facts straight. I'll be curious to see if anything more comes out that matches up with this. I had kind of thought it might be some sort of warning that a school bus was next, but my friend was quite certain that there were supposed to be school kids on that bus. Even if there were, there's no guarantee the sniper would know that anyway.

There was a high school girl that did not get on the bus because she just happened to be running late. I heard her talking about it on a radio talk show that I listen to at work. She was really upset and talking about how she to could have been killed had she not been running late but she didn't mention any other kids on this bus.

Yes, this is very similar to what my friend said she was told by an FBI agent she knows. There was no one else on the bus at that point because he'd just finished the first run and she was the first stop on the second run. He was waiting for her to get on the bus. He said she forgot a notebook or something like that and ran back to get it.

We wish we could do something...

When we drove to WDW last year we stopped to eat and sleep in Fredericksburg VA and thought that the people and the place were very nice. I really feel for the families and others having to deal with this.

I hope they get the a****le soon...

I've been watching CNN till 1 or 2 a.m. each morning trying to keep abreast of what is happening with this sniper situation..

When there was so much talk of communication - and cryptic messages being sent to the sniper via the news media - I was SO hoping that this maniac might actually stop this senseless killing if his demands were met..

When I rushed to the t.v. first thing this morning (well - actually that would be yesterday morning now) and turned it on I could hardly believe what I was hearing.. That someone had been shot so very, very early in the morning - back in the area of the original killings..

This individual MUST be stopped! But how?? I have heard many opinions as to what type of individual could be responsible for these horrendous crimes but if there is only ONE thing that I am certain of, it is that this murderer is not some "common" man off the street.. I believe he is a highly intelligent and extremely crafty individual that has thus far kept all of the authorities running around in circles.. It seems to me that in order to stay one step ahead of the authorities over and over again he must have some inside knowledge of how they operate.. Could it be a disgruntled former police officer? State trooper? FBI agent? Police dispatcher?

I will be praying again tonight that he is apprehended and this madness will end before anyone else has to be killed or injured..

In the meantime - for all of you who live in any close proximity to these shootings - I will be praying for all of you as well.. Please be very careful in all that you do and stay safe....

In Montgomery County bus service would be provided to any high school student who lives further than 2 miles from their home school. The route that this bus travels does pass a private high school which could be what she was referring to. I find it interesting that this particular bus travels past a number of the initial shooting sites.

It is being reported this morning that another note was found at the Aspen Hill shooting. The shooter is extremely upset that he was unable to make contact with law enforcement initially. Chief Moose issued a statement regarding the department's inability to comply with some specific demands. We are all very much on edge in the area. Certainly, the more angry and frustrated this individual becomes the more likely it seems that he will make a mistake, but is sure nerve-wracking to watch and wait.

This is really making me sick with worry. My DS goes to college down there and lives off campus. He is always in parking lots, fast food places, etc.

We are leaving next Friday to go to WDW and drive all the way down 95 getting on in Deleware. We will not be stopping for gas or bathroom breaks in Maryland or Virginia.
