CM's and the DISboards

I have always been curious if the Disney higher-ups like vice presidents and top people occasionally read these boards. Most companies spend a fortune on research and surveys to find out about their customers or clients. All these top mucky much executives have to do is read all about it right here!

Most of the CMs I know know about the DIS (and other sites) - but remember there are a LOT of active Disney boards out there. They can't possibly know about every one of them.

That said, none of them care to read or post on a board about WDW once they go home. My mom is a CM and in the beginning, Disney was still a hobby on the side but that went away after working there awhile.

Since there are more than one CMs who frequently post here, like Cranbiz - a WDW bus driver, as one example - your statement in red above is false.

The Disney Company checks all the Disney related message boeards to get a feel for what guests are thinking.

I love the CMs. They are so helpful and without them, Disney would be just another amusement Park. They really make it a memorable place! Their ability to use the tools the Imagineers give them, really makes the Magic!

Wanna know how many sites there are? Check www.thedisneyportal.com and click on list by Alphabetical! WOW!!!!!!! That is just their list of Disney sites! Yes, there are many, many sites to look at!

I was active on this board for several years before becoming a CM. Not only do my managers know I am active, but I asked them to review my sticky tickets post before it was posted. They said on a couple of items I was getting close to borderline but that I did not include any information that was clearly for internal use only. And I have a pretty good idea of what I can post without going over that fine line.

That is a broad statement and one I bet does not hold a lot of truth.

My son's school friend moved down to Florida and is now a face character at DHS. She loves her job, loves Disney in general, and is a regular on these boards. Even thought she spends so much time at WDW for work, she often changes out of her costume and stays after work just to play. There are many CMs like this. Many are addicted to the Dis as the rest of us are.

Then there are those that think they know everything and want you to believe they are CMs, but are not.
You CAN'T be talking about me. I don't want/expect anyone to believe I'm a Cast Member; I just feel everyone should acknowledge that I know everything :umbrella:

Yes - according to a CM who seldom posts but who I have actually met - Disney does have "people" who monitor the online forums.

There are CMs from all parts of the Disney Company on the disboards. Alot more from TDS. I agree, most don't let on that they are CMs and I generally recognize a few (my husband is a former CM).

What's TDS? :confused3

I want a DISBoard logo for my shirt! Who does them?

I am TOTALLY addicted to "my" board, and I just today busted my husband, who grumbles everytime I log on here, checking it out himself!:thumbsup2

I'm sure that CMs who obviously love all things Disney can also fall prey to the DISBoard addiction!!

I absolutely love hanging out with people who can be answering a post about a Disney resort, watching Samantha Brown's Disney favorites on t.v, and making ADRs on the phone all at once!:rotfl: It's like nirvana...!

Our DVC guide told me about the DIS board. He told me we could get more information here than any guide book.
He was right, and yes, we bought!

Scroll down the DIS main page, very close to the bottom there's a board titled something like "Creative DISigns".

I would think there is only a tiny percentage of CMs who know about DISboards.

Some CMs like helping out all of us clueless tourists here, and that goodness for them! But I'd wager that most CMs don't want to spend their off-hours talking about work.

Generally speaking, I don't enjoy spending my non-work time talking about work-related issues. As a health professional, occasionally I read off-topic questions here on the DIS and I respond if I have anything helpful to share, but I certainly don't go to Internet discussion boards related to my clinical specialty.
I'm in healthcare too(nursing) and I go to a nursing board. For me, it helps me decompress if I've had a bad day, I get tips from more experienced nurses etc.

I've thought about that too though..between work and visiting that board, nursing sure has become a big part of my life!
