CM's and the DISboards

A question for frequent/long-time park goers. How many CM's know anything about the disboards? When I mention them to reservations or dining, a surprising no. seem to have little knowledge of the boards. Any CM's out there? How many of your fellow CM's are familiar w/ the boards?

My cousin is a cast member and she is the one who told me about these boards. There is also a cast member only forum on here.

I would think there is only a tiny percentage of CMs who know about DISboards.

Some CMs like helping out all of us clueless tourists here, and that goodness for them! But I'd wager that most CMs don't want to spend their off-hours talking about work.

Generally speaking, I don't enjoy spending my non-work time talking about work-related issues. As a health professional, occasionally I read off-topic questions here on the DIS and I respond if I have anything helpful to share, but I certainly don't go to Internet discussion boards related to my clinical specialty.

There are CMs from all parts of the Disney Company on the disboards. Alot more from TDS. I agree, most don't let on that they are CMs and I generally recognize a few (my husband is a former CM).

Lots of CM's know about the DISboards and similar, they just may not like them.

You'd be suprised how often people will argue about Disney stuff with CM's citing "Well I heard it on <DIS/Mouseplanet/whatever>!!"

I know a # who read certain Forums and a few who will post. They must REALLY be careful though in what they say and how they say it, lest any thing be taken as "Official" WDW policy.

I agree. Many of them go out of their way to post a "tip" or "headsup" that a change is coming and then they are given the third degree. I give alot more weight to what they say then I do what a regular disboarder says. I know that some go out on a limb even posting a "rumor", so always appreciate the headsup.

I read the DIS mainly because I feel that having a finger on the pulse of the Guests helps make me a better CM.

That cracks me up.

There are a few posters on here that I know are Cast Members. And then there are some that I had no idea. Like one who replied to this thread. No idea that person was a Cast Member.

on my last major live blog adventure... I could use the line, "I am live blogging to Disboards" and get into, around, though, etc. about anything.

for example... it was a day where I was taking pics and posting them live on the dis unplugged forum. someone wanted a pic of the ultimate grilled cheese at Earl of Sandwich... it was early and I asked if i could get a pic, and they said, oh someone would have to order one, but why do you want a pic... well the "live blog to disboards" got the response of, "give him the sandwich"

someone else wanted pics of the AKL lodge demo unit at Saratoga, again "live blog to disboards" got me in immediately.

The cast is very aware of disboards, when i had a chance to speak with the Chief Scientist at Disney Imagineering, i asked if he knew about disboards... he knew exactly what I ment but said he does not spend a lot of time on the boards because of his travel and work schedule.

further, the cast is very aware of the LGMH... I made it almost 10 feet into the World of Disney Store in NYC before a CM pointed at the LGMH hanging from my back pack and asked my screen name.

To any and all Cast Members,

Thanks for all that you do, for all your patience with us sometimes impatient guests, for going above and beyond to make even just a little part of our day special, and for, well, just making us feel welcomed with a smile. There are not many other places in this country that we feel more safe and welcome than when at Disney, which is why we choose to keep coming back year, after year, after year. For with out YOU this would be ...just another amusement park. When reminiscing about past visits, I rarely think about the rides themselves. What I do remember, always, are the friendly castmembers and how you made our stay more magical.

There are several CMs that post here. Some of them are open about it and others make it obvious without telling they are a CM. Then there are those that think they know everything and want you to believe they are CMs, but are not.

There are a few CMs here that are very very helpful and provide good solid information. You will know who they are when you read their posts.
