Hey, Cat:

I'm digging the latest cat-o-tars! :thumbsup2

Congratulations, Justin and Amy (aka "Mrs. Fleagle")!

I have no idea...

check out www.cathie1.com, then the Disney link. See all the HMF backgrounds.

'Wonder which one he picks? (I think my favorites are the first (plain light blue), the fourth (mottled, sponge-painted look) and the fifth (halo effect).)

Okay, I gotta get some Zzzzzzzzs.

Think my new siggy is too edgy? (I found it kind of funny!)

Think my new siggy is too edgy? (I found it kind of funny!)

I like the siggy. I laughed out loud.

But of course, being me, I wanted to draw in the dog saying something like, "Oh you think you're desperate? Try being one of the bottom 1280+ in the Disney Dream CMO contest!" :-)

Great CM stories everyone. Those are so nice to hear...especially the one about the bear Meggin! :) I'm glad you got a chance to hook up with Tripp....I'm sure that was fun!

If you read Eric's trip report you may remember that several years ago we met him making a pin trade. Long story..but we've become good friends and communicate all year long and make special time to spend with him when we go to Disney. Well, he once told me a similar story about an autograph book that was lost and then found. Our CM friend took the autograph book and got EVERY character to sign it...even those "hard to get" autographs. He then mailed it along with a note from Mickey to the little girl. Thankfully their address was in the front of the book. Anyway...such a nice and thoughtful thing to do.

Another little magical moment was this same CM took our family to lunch and we had great conversation. As usual he presented us with special pins..some are castmember only pins, some collectors pins, and some just have special meaning. I must admit that we know nothing about the value or the pins or what type of pin they are...we just treasure them because our friend, Mr. Bill, gave them to us. Anyway.....

This day at lunch he also gave our three older kids a very special set of Tinkerbell "Share The Magic" pins. It was actually 2 pins on two connected cards. As he explained to us......These pins are very special and very rare You can only get them from a castmember. The purpose of them was to spread the pixie dust by finding someone that needed a bit of magic and present that stranger with a pin. We were to then keep the other connected identical pin as a reminder of the magical moment. What a great idea DISNEY! So, naturally we took this job very seriously and were off to find three deserving strangers to give the Tink pins to.

Longer story still...but the Cliff Notes version was that throughout the rest of our trip we became very aware of those around us and what magic we could sent their way. We felt like little Tinks ourselves.

We managed to find a deserving family on the monorail who had just come to Disney for the first time and were just riding the monorail in excitement. Not having tickets to the park yet they just wanted to look! This family was very much like ours..same number of kids outnumbering parents.....2 boys, 2 girls and they were, believe it or not, LOST on the monorail! They didn't know how or where to get off. It was so very very sweet. So Tink came to guide them back to their hotel and start what I'm sure was a truly magical vacation.

Pin number 2 went to a little Princess who had just walked into the park in her Princess outfit and had just come out of City Hall from getting her special "I't my birthday" button. Well, lucky day for her that Tink had a special wish for her too!

Pink number 3 was the most meaningful to me. I had noticed a little girl, maybe 4, just running around the teacups lost....crying 'mommy, mommy' and just running frantically looking everywhere. Well, I'm sure all you parents can feel the gut wrenching anguish I was feeling witnessing this. So of course I went over to her to help and calm her down. Moments later mom found her and the scary moment was over. Natually I felt that Tink needed to give this little girl a hug and perhaps stay with her to make her feel safe. Anyway...

Those stories really aren't about us, it goes back to the CM who took the Pixie Dust one step further. By entrusting us with this task of spreading magic it not only sprinkled pixie dust on some deserving guests, but we managed to spill some on ourselves too! :wizard:

By the way, that was part of the idea with us sending everyone two of Eric's pins. Originally the plan was to keep one for yourself and then to go spread the word and the magic and get someone else to vote and present them with a pin too. If you don't want your extra pin then you might consider that option.

Just thought I'd share. I'm all about the warm fuzzies in the a.m.

Good Morning all!
Amy

I didn't say that I was doing that! I said can you???

Careful Pirate. The security code is clearly designed to prevent people from voting when they are away from their computers. If you are getting around that, then you might be deemed to be corrupting the administration, security or proper play of the Contest.

From the Official Rules

Sponsor reserves the right to, in its sole discretion, cancel, modify or suspend the Contest should any computer virus, bugs or other technical difficulty or other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor or Released Parties corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest.

Away from my home computer? Yes. I have a wi-fi Internet tablet that should work. I cannot, however, vote without the use of an Internet connection of some kind if that's what you're hinting at.

No hinting, just a little joke! :rotfl2:

I'll see if I can get more non-votes for Eric. Great Idea!

Cathie (Cat),

I LOVE your site! The Cat-o-tars are great!! Now I want a site like that AND a Cat-o-tar (I am guessing that Andy has lost interest in the contest).

p.s. saw that you are a LOSTIE as well, we'll have to chat --- tonight's the night!!! :yay:

Oh boy...here we go again. You know, it just occurred to me that I've had a horrible headache all day...seriously....I wonder why? Hmmm

AMy

I DID TOO!!! Do you think I actually gave it to myself??!! :confused3

I just love those bouncing guys so much though.......I will live through the pain:

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

I think the point was as we were all discussing rapid fire voting and shortcuts that it's important to vote fast, but honest. The LAST thing any of us want is to do anything that Disney could deem flawed or improper play. That would really *!**! Granted, nothing wrong with lightening speed voting or shortcuts. Your expertise on those shortcuts was great by the way.

I like your idea, Meggin!

Wow! I also really enjoyed the CM's story about the lost-bear resolution. (That definitely was going above and beyond the call of duty...)

While nowhere near as dramatic, some of my favorite interactions with CMs follow the same theme: They went beyond their basic job descriptions to make a guest's experience (mine! ;) ) more enjoyable.

*One older CM, who was performing janitorial duties in the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station, noticed my family was trying to scope out a decent spot to watch Wishes. He actually walked us over to a table with the least obstructions and said, "Now you have the best seat in the house!" :thumbsup2

*Same scenario at Hollywood Studios: My family had arrived at the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, where people were cram-packed like sardines. (...And this was supposed to be during the slow spell after Thanksgiving! ) I asked a nearby CM if things might get any better. He encouraged us to return during that evening's Extra Magic Hours, so off we went to get our wristbands. This might not seem particularly extraordinary -- except that he recognized me later in the evening when my family returned. (He actually made a point to approach us and ask, "So, is this better?") :thumbsup2

*I think I previously mentioned that our interactions with Mulan (in Epcot) have been consistently good. During our first visit to China, she got down on my DD's level and took the time to walk DD though the picture book she had brought Mulan to autograph. ("Mushu, do you remember when that happened?" "And then what happened, Mushu?" Then, to DD: "So, what was your favorite part of the story?" I was in such awe -- waiting for her to pose for an official snapshot -- that I just stood there watching and forgot to start snapping pictures like crazy of their cute interaction! Priceless!

During our next visit, we hopped in line just in time to hear that Mulan would be leaving to "have tea." Obviously, it was time for the CM's break, but she stuck around long enough to take photos (and sign autographs) for my DD. Before she left, Mulan even produced a little slip of paper that said "Tag! You're it!" (The Princesses along the World Showcase sometimes send messages to one another via guests who are doing the circuit!) :thumbsup2

Okay, I think I've become a bit long-winded... (It won't be the first time! :rolleyes1 )

Bottom line: Many Disney CMs seem to exude a special warmth towards guests. You can tell they enjoy their jobs. I agree with Tripp's earlier post (from a while ago):

those are GREAT stories!! thanks so much for sharing them!! i think you and tripp are absolutely right. i love talking to cm's who share some of their favorite disney moments. they often have really neat stories about how they came to work at disney and what led them to where they are.

those princesses are great!! i'll need to get myself over to meet that mulan! i usually hang out near france to see belle :)

p.s. i love the signature--very fun!

love,
meggin

First before I forget - thanks to Marshay also for the shout-out!

Ann - Thanks! It's my first attempt at a personal website.

I know there's a "fleagle-imposed" no more talking nice about fleagle, but he was my inspiration. When I was sitting here all bummed about the contest, I thought it was cool he could send people to his site to get more info about him.

I've always wanted to register my full name, so on Feb 22nd I did it! Since the whole cmo thing has been my obsession, it's the main focus of the site so far.

I'm not sure I can get you a site like that, but if you are serious about a cat-o-tar I'll give it a shot! Either post a picture here, or link to a pic, or email it to cathie@cathie1.com. They never end up looking like the orig pic, but it gives me something to start with! :thumbsup2

And thanks to everyone who've said nice things about the cat-o-tars. It started as a joke, but I've had fun doing them. Anyone who wants one only has to ask!

Cat

Well good morning everyone...... how is everyone doing? Hey did someone get a new avatar? Or should I say cat-o-tar? :rolleyes1

Good Morning all!
Amy

i LOVE hearing these stories!! what a wonderful day you all had, and what an amazing gift mr. bill gave to you. he knew that you'd be the perfect magic ambassadors. :wizard: oh, that poor little lost girl! i've been her--i used to just be mesmerized by the stuffed animals. i remember hug-testing a row of animals, and then turning around to find that my family had moved on without me! it was horrible. luckily it didn't take long for my mom to realize what had happened. i could have used tink at that moment!!

warm fuzzies are the best thing to go with coffee in the morning--and they're calorie-free!

i'll be back later after work! i'll have a smile on my face all day anticipating reading more of these great stories later!

love,
meggin
