CM missing from Wonder 03/22/11??

I know this is speculation but the investigators have said that they know what the last conversation she had was about. I think they know a lot more than they are willing to share with the general public and honestly if they thought a crime had happened they would not have let the Wonder pull away tonight. I think this has become (as many have always stated it was) a private matter for the family. There is honestly only one cause I can think of that could have been discussed in a conversation that is not criminal. Though I honestly wish they would release a statement so that they media would leave the poor family alone.

You do have every right to know if this disappearance was the result of a crime. But there are many here who with good intentions (prayers and sympathy to the Corians are all that matters) are telling you and I and anyone else who wants to see an objective answer to what happened that they are in essence butting into a private affair.

What they don't understand is that by telling people to turn their heads, they are enabling the agenda of large, powerful entities whose prime agenda is to limit the damage from these sorts of events to sales and profits.

I don't think anyone is telling people they should "turn their heads;" I'm sorry it it feels that way. I think the statement is more: "let's not jump to conclusions until we know something official." The NEED to know and the DESIRE to know are two different things at this early stage.

Either way - I think those who are telling everyone to not speculate out of respect are probably wise....so I'll take their advice and (electronically) shut my mouth. ;)

Hmmm....it only pulled out an hour later than normal? I'm surprised. I hope the parents were satisfied with whatever info they received before it left.

I just got off of the wonder and I did hear Rebecca being paged several time on Tuesday. The cruise director gave us some updates. I do know that the ship was searched by authorites and did see dogs going onto the ship this morning when we docked. Very sad. We heard many things on board, but since we did not hear it directly from the cruise staff, as far as I am concerned it was just gosip and should not be repeated. Hopefully, Disney will get all the facts and let the public know so all the speculations are cleared up.

Dispite the tragedy, DCL made sure everyone felt safe, and we had an awesome cruise.

If Rebecca's family and friends are not satisfied by the answers they are given, or the lack thereof, they can press for more answers (and chances are they will press for answers using the media, I would).

On this note, there was a comment on the Cruise Critic website that said the mother stated she now wonders if Becca was ever on the ship and wants proof. I think that may be from a very distraught woman who is hoping that maybe her daughter is still on land somewhere. My daughter is her age and I cannot even fathom going through this with no answers yet!

I have gone to bed and woken up with her in my thoughts for the last three days. Hoping a miracle comes out of this!

Boy this thread is going in a negative direction.
Let us not forget that this is about a human being that something has tragically happened to.
Her family has every right to know what is going on, but we, as a general public need to wait until more information is released.

Forget about who is right or wrong.
I certainly hope her family members or CMs are not reading this thread. Too much bickering going on.
Let's give the authorities time to investigate, and please stop jumping to conclusions!
I will continue to pray and hope for a possitive outcome.

Please, please, please be sensitive for those involved.

Well said Candy!!

Why on earth would any parent tell their child about this, I cannot believe that would happen:mad:. What possible good would come of that? Only tarnish wonderful childhood memories of a possible favorite CM and put fear into their small minds, totally unnecessary.
Children deal with this stuff much better than the adults as you can see for yourself.

Praying for Rebecca and her family and loved ones! What a terrible time for them. They need prayers, love and support!

No one is telling you or anyone else to turn their head but many of your posts are taking this thread in a direction that it does not need to go. We are trying to keep this thread free from speculation and you continue to allude that this is a giant cover up...there is no evidence of a cover up or that a crime has been committed.

Please leave speculation like that out of the thread. If and when DCL reveals their findings only then we will know what happened.

I've seen her name misspelled over and over throughout this thread. Please check, and re-check, your information. The CM's name is Rebecca Coriam.

this!

Wouldn't the "proof" be the video where she was seen talking on the phone at 5:30 am? Surely they showed the parents that video of her, while they were on board this morning, yes?

And the crew comes on board through the same process we do as guests: passes that get swiped with their photo that comes up on the computer as they enter/exit. Therefore, they have an accurate and exact count of every person on the ship (guests or crew) at all times. I don't see how there could be any debate about her being on board more than 48h after sailing.

I also agree that I am sure they know waaay more than they are telling the media. There are cameras in all public areas of these ships (and on newer ships than the Wonder there are cameras all over the perimeter of the ship too so it is easy to see if someone jumped/fell overboard). Not sure if the Wonder has these types of cameras but I know all of the modern Princess and RCCL ships do, just for this type of reason.

I feel so sad for the parents of this young girl. They really need closure, one way or another.

Ok, I feel horrible for the family and the victim but at some point people need to get real. This is a board where people ask about the smallest of minutia on cruises - what kind of pillow, who's the best server, which room to choose, to tip or not to tip and my personal fav how to travel with crohns.

I want to know what DCL is doing to insure that the next cruise is not full of sad faces, did they rotate the crew, is their counseling being offered to the crew, what are they doing to keep the festive nature of the ship festive.

Moreover, is there some moral issue causing depression or was this an isolated incident. The fact that they work with children makes info even more important. I care that an individual has come to harm - but selfish or not I want to know what is being done to move forward from here. Im on this site to know about my cruise and potential factors that may affect my enjoyment of it. I want to see the family and crew move forward with peace and I feel bad for all of them.

But the next step to ask is who is involved with my kids and what is DCL doing to insure that stable people are around them? You can read that as concern over crew morale or whether they are checking if someone potentially dangerous is on board.

The mods have requested, more than once, not to take this thread in that direction.

I actually talked about that a few pages back...YES there was counseling going on, and YES the crew was still outstanding and keeping up a great cruise. Speaking only for myself and my traveling party- I felt kinda bad partying on and such, when there was obviously a tragedy for a family. Perhaps not everyone feels the same. :confused3 It was often in the back of my mind but the crew never let on publicly about any sadness. I never saw anyone in tears or anything. We still had one of if not the best cruise ever!

I don't know how they could possibly rotate crew though since schedules are set a long time in advance. I'm sure DCL will handle any personnel changes or requests as needed.

By get real I mean there are practical honest concerns that do not involve speculation about her death and is not disrespectful.

The mods have tried to keep this thread positive. They have suggested starting another thread for other concerns.
