No need for bickering back and forth over what the Mods/Webmasters have requested for this thread.

Wow what a sad story! First of all my thoughts a prayers go out to Rebecca and her family at this tragic time. Second I can understand peoples concerns. I get that many people go missing from cruise ships each year for what ever reason it may be and it never makes the news. I think this situation is different because she was a youth counselor that was responsible for our children (our most precious cargo) and I think that makes this story hit home more. Now if I was a future cruiser on this ship I would like some answers before boarding the ship but would I demand them, NO. Until anyone gets answers some are going to speculate what happened to her and of course some may guess the worst. Personally until foul play is ruled out I would be concerned for my familys saftey. Now I know Disney would never put any of their customers in danger. Would I still sail, YES. Would I be concerned, Yes. Until an answer is found I guess for some its the fear of the unknown.

I just did this cruise 2/27/10 and althoug I dont recall seeing Rebecca it still saddens me that she is still missing 5 days later. I hope answers are found soon for her poor family. Also to ease the minds of fellow CM's and past, present and future sailers to know they are in the best hands.

I guess the missing girls family didn't get the memo from the Wonder CM's that we aren't supposed to talk about this. The fact that they literally held a press conference pretty much makes yesterdays debate laughable.

One way or another I hope she is found so that the family can rejoice or have closure.

I have been on the boards for some time now, for years just reading, I finally became a member an eventually started posting, I also have read other "Disney boards" as well as cruise critict boards and those other boards have constant bickering an ignorant coments posted on them Disboards is better than that, we are better than that, THIS IS A YOUNG GIRLS LIFE we are talking about, some people want to wish her family hope and comfort let them, if you want to gossip or place blame go to cruise critic and get it out of your system, then come back to the boards and we will do what families do say
welcome back, but please be respectful to the people on the boards that have asked more than twice! This family needs a little Disney magic:wizard::wizard: Ian if they don't get the outcome we are all praying for they will need us to be even stronger!

I sincerely pray for all of those involved with this young girl's wherebouts and that she will be found safe and brought back into the loving arms of her family and friends - Many years ago, my 15 year old daughter went missing and this was before "alerts" became so important - our lives were torn up for 5 years of "not knowing" - the love and support we received were beyond our belief and hope although the prayers and concern was what kept our families going so focus on sending prayers that somehow the family and friends of Becca will find our embrace of love and hope to keep them going through a very difficult time.
With much love and prayers to the family and friends of Becca, never ever give up hope and most of all each and all are embraced with our love and prayers that Becca will be found safe and sound.

Here's an update from the CBS affiliate in LA (which not surprisingly contains more detail than the coverage being provided by the LA ABC affiliate). The new element the CBS story contains is that investigators know the content of the phone call that Rebecca made before she disappeared - but are not sharing it with her family.

I dont get why they wouldnt share this with the family? it would seem that it could answer some fundamental questions as to what happened. Going public and sharing witha grieving mother and father are different.

I wonder if they DID share it with them but are trying to save them being asked?

FWIW...I think the amount of info they have been releasing is reasonable and appropriate. That said, if I had a cruise on this ship coming up, I'll be damned if someone tried telling me people disappearing from it is no intrinsically my business. While I get the authorities stance, I most certainly get that of those who want to know more as well.

By get real I mean there are practical honest concerns that do not involve speculation about her death and is not disrespectful.

Your concerns were addressed a few pages back as Silly Little Pixie stated in her post.

Anyone who wants more "answers" contact DCL and see what they tell you. You are not going to get answers on this board...no one here has the answers. Only Disney can release that info. If anyone is concerned about an upcoming cruise....contact DCL with those concerns.

What gossip? I certainly haven't participated in any, my comment was on the content of the thread. LexLaw hit the nail on the head when he said everyone needs to "get real". Its comical that posters are using phrases such as "Disney Magic" or "Pixie Dust" in this situation as if we lived in some fantasy where sorcerer Mickey could wave his hand and find the girl.

Because at the moment it is still an ongoing investigation. Until the appropriate time comes, that information will remain under wraps as to not infringe upon said investigation. That's how it works, so please quit with the endless speculations!

Again, let's keep to the real reason for this thread. Staying strong in hope for a resolution to an impossible and heartbreaking situation and continue with prayers and well wishes for Rebecca, her family, colleagues, and friends.

Yesterday, the following was included in the statement DCL released:

"We've been in close contact with the Coriam family, and we're assisting them in any way we can."

The parents of the missing CM are flying back to the U.K. today. Per the BBC update below, they are returning with little if any more information on the what happened to their daughter than what they arrived with days ago.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/tuk-england-merseyside-12878390

So while Disney is certainly trying to help, the good intentions are unfortunately getting lost in a sea of angst driven by the lack of information. And as long as that continues the situation for the Coriams will worsen.

Or stated differently, if the truth doesn't eventually come this is a wound time will not heal.

:worried: I have sailed 9 times and 4 of them have been on the Disney Wonder and as a faithful cult-like fanatic of the Disney Cruise Line and anything Disney, I must say that I feel like many others a deep connection to this story. You can't avoid the feeling of sadness. The connection is such that it feels like family or a close friend who has gone missing. I learned about this almost immediately thanks to Cruise Bruiser which I visit often. Since then I have been watching and reading all entries in most mayor Disney Board Forums/Blogs that are available in the Web and I have to say that Disney should be proud of there clients. All I have seen is an outpouring of love and support for Rebecca, her family and to the CM'S. And as I kept reading every post it darn to me that most messages on these boards also were and are comforting me and many other fans, and this is exactly why I am a cult fanatic fan of Disney because of that strong sense of love as a community.

My Prayers and Thoughts are with Rebecca, her Family and the rest of CM'S! My thoughts are also with all Board Members who have stopped and made some space in their lives to be concerned for a Crew Member who has helped us smile and build fantastic memories while cruising! XOXO

Having gone through the accidental loss of a loved one, my own experience tells me that there is never enough information. You are trying to understand it and process it and make some sense of something that doesn't make sense. You will always feel there isn't enough information because nothing satisfies the desire to know why something terrible happened, when there really isn't a logical, rational explantion. So, I totally understand the family feeling that they don't have all the information, and don't find that to be in conflict with DCL giving them all the information they can. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Its just how a lot of people react to tragedy. I truly hope they are able to find some closure in time, but I'm sure that will be difficult under the circumstances.

My daughter and I have been struggling with whether we should ask for her to go to the Edge while we are on the Dream in May. it will be 20 days before her 11th birthday. The fact that a CM can disappear into thin air has me feeling that the Lab is the way to go for us. I am sailing alone with her and would rather she not roam alone.

That said, I just told her about the missing CM. We were on the Wonder in October and now she is very worried the missing girl is one of her "friends." (She means CM's, of course.) Her two friends were both from England (as I think the missing CM is) and their names are Jenny and Emma. Does anyone know if they are safe and accounted for?

Our thoughts have been with the family for the past week. I cannot imagine the feelings they have right now. I will keep hoping for a positive outcome.

Tell your daughter that both of her friends are on the ship and are safe. its nice to hear that we make such an impact on the junior cruisers.

Speculation?

I wasn't speculating. I was bemoaning the fact they weren't alleviating some of this family's grief by giving them the information.

That said...there is a chance they have more info than we are being told they have, and if this is the case, I am fine with it.

None of my comments represent complaints. I fully acknowledge those on the scene are more qualified than I to handle this.

The authorities can't. It's already all over the media. Last thing they need is potentially vital information splayed all over the place that could potentially prevent them from closing this "case".

We are not entitled to know every detail, nor can the parents expect to be privvy to everything at this time. It's terrbily difficult right now, but they have to trust that the authorities will do the best they can to resolve the situation. This is a horrible thing that has happened for the family, but they have to let it run its course.

And continuing to speculate (or bemoan) and infer that there is some form of a coverup is counter-productive at the moment. The best thing for everyone involved is to continue to provide as much care and support to help these people keep their chins up during this trying time.

I am not implying anything like a coverup.

I just feel bad for her family. I hope anything that can be done to enlighten and/or inform them, without sacrificing the integrity of the inevstigation, is being done.

They're doing the best that they can, I'm sure.

This is a horribly impossible situation, which is saddening to the entire Disney community to find out that we're missing someone who had some part in brightening somebody's day on vacation. Even though we are not directly linked to the party's involved, it still affects all of us in some way.

I still hold hope for a positive outcome, though with each passing day it's getting harder and harder. The time will come that the rest of the story will come to pass. I can't imagine what everyone is going through right now. We just have to believe that everyone involved in the investigation is doing everything they can to come to resolution and that her family and friends can find some kind of closure, very soon.
