CM comment- Would you be offended?

I know women who had babies in their late teens, and women who had babies in their mid 40's (SIL adopted at 50). He probably thought your family was letting the little girl keep the (slow) pace.
Even if the CM assumed the child was mine, why not ask us to keep up rather than imply that we were so clueless that we did not which way the line was moving?

This is a tough one for me. Not being there and seeing situation or hearing comment made by CM. Don't get me wrong but asking my opinion on something I didn't witness.I'm not calling you a liar in anyway. Just I could answer one way that may offend you, or agree with you and make you happy. I rarely make my opinion known unless I witness the whole situation. I think by replies you've a multitude of replies trying to interpret and fill in what ifs.

As far as 1, they estimate and change wait times based on the cards they hand guests that record actual time in line. That isn't done by sight.

3. I can't remember but I don't think the line at IASW is air conditioned.

4. We were keeping up. We could not control gaps created by people in front of us and I certainly was not going to tell the people in front of me how to behave in line.

Actually I've seen the line to IASW snake all the way outside and there is no air conditioning other than that loving Florida sunshine (and humidity). :)

Keep in mind these are no longer people who are living the dream and want to work for the Disney that cared about customer service and their employees. These are interchangeable parts that come and go with the college semesters and this is just a job to them. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be held to high standards but those standards aren't the same from the company persepctive as what they were even 10 years ago.

I think you are vastly overstating the current situation. We spend time talking to castmembers, on every trip. It's one of our favourite past times, and the main reason we keep coming back. We've talked to college students and locals and folks who've moved across the country to "live the dream", as well as disabled and elderly castmembers. And you know what? Many of those same college students ARE "living the dream". They visited as kids and they competed for a chance at that college program. Some of them we run into year after year. Some have decided to take full employment with Disney. Another we said a fond goodbye to after three years, as she's heading off to finish her studies in hospitality - hoping to return to Disney someday, but if not, she'd like to manage a resort of her own. There was a woman from South America who was working as a custodian on a seasonal basis and using the money she earned at Disney to travel the world and see all the places she'd only ever read about. And there was the very young lady from Puerto Rico we met for the first time who was completely amazed to be working at a moderate resort. "This place, it's like PARADISE! It's so much prettier than home. And safer. And everyone's happy!" she said.

Sure, I've seen some hot, tired, grumpy faces - particularly behind quick service counters! - but what I haven't seen is any sort of decline in cast member quality and service over the past 10 years.

I think CMs are urged to keep the line as tight and compact as possible, both so the line appears shorter and they can fit as many as possible in the queue. So, yes, the CM likely DID want you to breathe down the neck of the people in front of you. Of course, the CM could have been much nicer about it.

Last trip in November, we noticed at both WDW and Universal that every line we got in we were herded like cattle with CMs yelling in everyone's ear to move closer. I get what they are trying to do but it was irritating no less.

Oh, were you?

I am offering my opinion based on what I read AND the aisle size which is more then 2 across and CM's job to keep to keep the lines moving..not just the OPs comments.........I didn't not question Kallope until she raised the issue to me.

Interesting that you noticed this. I wondered if it was my imagination but it did seem like the CMs at both Universal and WDW were more focused on moving the lines along this trip. I just did not expect it to be done in a snarky, rude way.

My bad. I may have misunderstood the OP's experience, with vague, misleading descriptions like "The CM came up to me and said in a snarky tone" and "I was so taken aback by the tone."

I think I just went cross-eyed.

Please post my whole comment : *I am offering my opinion based on what I read AND the aisle size which is more then 2 across and CM's job to keep to keep the lines moving..not just the OPs comments*

Snarky it one person may not be snarky to another. It very well may not be what the CM meant to be snarky or surprise the OP.

The op asked a question .I offered my opinion..I dropped it a that point.

I am sorry if you miss read it.

No problem.....I was not there, but I based my comment on more then just the OP comments.

I base my opinion on what the person that was actually there said and experienced.

Sometimes I wonder if people reported Disney had a new policy where every fifth person that came in the park would be hit in the knee with a tire iron if someone would still defend the practice and blame the person who was hit because they should have timed it better to not be the fifth person in.
