Talking about our recent trip this comment by a CM came up. We were in the top part of the line for It's a Small World. In front of us was a family with a little girl who was doing the whole kid thing and not immediately keeping up with her mom so we were giving them a little room. Still keeping up but not passing the little girl in line. The CM came up to me and said in a snarky tone "Mam, I'm going to do you a favor. The line goes that way." We were all in order in the que, did she expect me to breathe down the neck of the people in front of us and separate them from their child? I was so taken aback by the tone and comment that I didn't even say anything back. Would you have been offended?

Offended, probably not, but I would darn sure have been equally taken aback and irritated to be spoken to rudely! I tend to want to cut the CMs some slack because they deal with so many nasty guests, but this is pretty bad.

I think that comment was unnecessary and rude, but I wouldn't let it bother you too much. I bet the CM didn't even realize they were being rude.

I've only been offended by a CM once. We were in MK and a photo pass photographer was talking to my husband about being a triathlete. DH had just completed the Lake Placid Ironman and had a tattoo that the CM noticed. After their discussion, the CM turned to me and said, "Ok, I get why you're with him. He's in great shape and he's an Ironman, but why is he with you?" My jaw hit the floor. I told him I had no idea and I just walked away. I don't think he meant to hurt my feelings, but he did.

No!.......Sound more like a teasing comment....Her job is to keep the lines moving and those aisles are plenty wide to be able to get around the child.

I realize we could have gone around the little girl but I would not want to get between a young child and their parent. And there was not that much room between us and her parent.

I have had that experience and we always move up to the family. That is when they realize they are not keeping track of their kids and call them forward to stand with the family. It amazes me that parents keep no track of their children, especially in a place with thousands of people. As for the CM, you have no idea what kind of day they have had up to that point and I tend to give them a little slack. To tell the truth, I don't think I could do their job. I just don't have the patience to smile for eight hours a day when dealing with people who have no idea or concept of anything other than themselves.

Well, if it was said with a grin, sure. But the OP said, the comment was said in a snarky way. So, rude.
I would not be offended, but it strikes me as an ignorant thing to say.

It was definitely not said with a smile. It was snarky. I really don't know if it is possible to tease strangers effectively.

You know when people are teasing you. They smile, they use a lilting tone of voice, etc. The CM was in no way teasing.

Maybe the CM thought the little girl was with you?

This was my thought too. The CM probably thought she was with you. Families come in all shapes and sizes, and even if you don't look young enough to be a mom of one that young, there's always adoptive families that do. Same for not being old enough to be the grandma; you're certainly of age to be the aunt or godmother.

I would not have been bothered, but probably would have told the CM that the little girl was with the family ahead of us, and we didn't want to come between them, and I would have said it loud enough for the family to hear and get their child.

It really doesn't matter what kind of day the CM was having. I expect to be treated with respect and given all the available courtesy Disney can reasonably offer. I can't just speak to people any way I like when I'm having a bad day at work. Even if the guest is acting like a fool those types of comments are unacceptable. Any supervisor or manager that tries to rationalize that type of employee conduct should be shown the door also. I remember watching a video of a fight in the Test Track line last week. That CM handled the situation without being rude or abusive and that is a situation where I would expect a temper to flare. If a CM can't be professional at a ride like Small World then how will they act in a truly heated situation?

Totally agree. People are on vacation, not joining the military. IASW is a quick boarding ride and usually doesn't take long to get through the cue. I would be a little annoyed, but then again, hakuna matata

Unbelievable.

Wow! That is super rude! I would have been fuming for the rest of the day. There is no way that he didn't realize that was completely inappropriate and mean. So sorry!
