I am an avid CM scrapbooker (for 8 years now), and am going to Disney with DH, DD8 and DD51/2 for the first time in Feb. I am wondering if I should stick with CMs albums, or buy a Disney scrapbook down there? :confused3 I have never found another album that I love as much as my CM albums, but really want a WOW album for our first trip. A couple of my scrapin' friends also said they havent liked the Disney albums as much either. I guess my thought was to buy some unique embellishments and papers down there but stick with a CM album. I would love all you scrappers advice (I think I know what the CM consultants will say....hee hee :rotfl2: ) Thanks everyone!

I have a Disney album from our last trip in 02'. I think it was 25.00 and came with some paper and page protectors. I haven't finished it because I have run out of the page protectors and I haven't been able to find them. I love the CM albums. If I had to do it over again I would choose the CM album.

Have a great time on your vacation in Feb! :earsboy: ::MickeyMo

Well I haven't bought a WDW album & I'm not a CMC, but I remember reading quite a few threads where people were lamenting their inability to find replacement pages for the WDW books. Evey when someone would direct them to a company that "carries them" they often found that the pages either didn't fit or had been discontinued.

Personally, I love the look of the CM albums but don't usually use them - they're too expensive for me but also I don't scrap in order. But if you're happy with them, I'd suggest going with the CM album & getting a bunch of the unique embellishments that they carry.

You might also check the sticky about favorite sites at the top of the forum. There are quite a few online "stores" that carry some great Disney embellishments! :teeth:

Good luck!

I bought a Disney Album. I know there is noway I am going to be able to put all my pages in that one album. So I am going to a brief overview in that album and then do a couple of others in albums that I can get refills for.

But if the refills I currently have fit the the Disney album, I am going to put more inthe Disney album.

My last trip I have 2 very thick albums. I should have made it into 4 more managable ones.

and have a persona done on the front to make it special...it would be the only time I would do persona as YIKES :earseek: it is costly and with the albums already at $38 it makes it about a $60 album.... :earseek:

I have a black CM album and I bought some embrodiered ( sp) stickers and put on the front of it- one is a DISNEY one and the other Mickey- it is so cute! I am a Cm scrapper too and the album quaility cant be beat!
I will email you a pic if you want:)- I am really pleased with the cover:)

Okay, so I know I'm in the minority here but I just can't understand the huge loyalty to CM albums. I really don't get it. Yes, they lay flat but you have to stick your stuff to the albums themselves and decide what order everything is going in BEFORE you even start.
Here is my solution for the problem with finding refills for Disney albums. I am replacing all the page protectors first and using the ones the albums came with in a smaller album later. That way, I have matching page protectors for the entire album and I have a beautiful 50th anniversary album that I can work on in any order that tickles my fancy.

ITA! I work in such a random order I have to use top loading albums. I stopped buying the ones from disney b/c of the page protector issues and now am using the Sandylion, EK, and CI disney albums. Although I also have used all of the current ones once each, so I am giong to just plain albums or a travel themed for Epcot, an zoo one for AK, etc.

I say neither. I was not overly impressed with any of the albums I saw in disney, plus the horror stories about finding refills made me sure not to buy one.

I just purchased an EK Success, post bound, side loading album. Any and all EK Sucess refills fit it (laura ashley, architexture, etc). Sandy Lion also make some nice ones that are post bound and top loading.

I don't know that you are in the minority. I actually just prefer the cm albums and I sideload mine , so being in chronological order is not and issue for me. Those that I do adhere directly to the page are usually albums that I may only add to once or twice a year. I also use bulky items and I have found that they hold up a lot better in my cm albums then some of the other albums on the market. Plus my albums are usually 90 pages and none of my cm ones have fallen apart even filled to the capacity. I do think that most people use the toplaoding ones though. But if you realy love cm albums ( as the op seems to ) you can use them as a loading page versus adhering them directly. So I have the best of both worlds.

I am not a CM person but if I was I would say get a CM book and then have it embossed with something Disney. I have just heard too many horror stories about refilling Disney albums. Plus if you are a true CM person I bet down the road you will be wishing all the spines on your books self matched. (This is a problem for me....I really would like a uniformed look but I have to use top loading!)

I have to say I'd go with the CM album....I went back and forth on our cruise last Sept on weather or not to get a DCL album or not...I stuck with the CM album...and am really glad I did. Actually I didn't care to much for the DCL album....then again this year for our trip to WDW and DCL...I again passed on their albums and picked the CM albums.

Personaly the quality of the CM albums can't be beat. I also think there area ways around getting "stuck" putting your pages in the wrong order. Myself I have NEVER ran into any issues or problems with getting them out of order. And yes I do keep my albums in order by date...and NO I don't always scrap in order.

Anyways...Last year I went with the black coverset with the window for a picture...That way I was able to personalize the album for our cruise....I'm planning on sending the cover in for some persona work (put the dates and DCL on the album also). This year I'm still trying to decide which one to get...but again I'm leaning towards the black coverset with the window.

My first Disney album was a Red CM album, and now I have 3 Black CM albums, I did get an album when at Disney, but have never used it for my pictures. I used it for pictures of the characters only from our honeymoon trip. I was worried at the time of finding refils and such. But I prefer the CM albums, as I am used to them, and can pretty much zip through them.

( now the zipping part is all relative --- a zip could be 6 months LOL)!!!

Thank you all for your great advice! I agree that staying with CM is probably the best album for me. I Think I would be dissapointed in the quality of any of the other albums. Plus, I'm an old pro at using them. Looking forward to finding some "fun" Disney embellishments!
