Club level rooms at AKV

Hi everyone. I'm going to be renting points for my next vacation (the week after Thanksgiving next year). I really want a savannah view studio at AKV, but we're thinking of "upgrading" to a club level room. However, I hear these are savannah or pool view. Is there a way to guarantee a savannah view club level room?

I think that most people booking concierge want the savannah view. There's no way to guarantee it, then I thought, well if you booked more than 1/2 of the concierge rooms, at least one would be savannah view. Not practical, but there you have it! I actually don't know if it's 50% each...we have concierge studio stays in March and September, and yes, I hope we have a savannah view!

The 5 2BR lock-offs (meaning they can be 1BR and studio) are above the lobby and three face the sunset savanna and two the pool. The sunset savanna view they have is not that great. You can request savanna view but it is not guaranteed.

Hey Nifty... this used to be true, but now you will know at booking if it's savannah or pool.

That might be true for non-dvc concierge, but not dvc. In any event, if savannah view is what you want, do NOT book concierge. The savanna view from up there is lousy - always has been, and always will be. You'll see far more animals in a real savannah view room - unless you get one just underneat the concierge dvc rooms

I totally agree! We booked CL the first chance any of us AKV owners had, and we "requested" savanna view, but ended up with pool view. There are indeed 3 2 bedroom lock offs with savanna view, but one of those is HA. In a way, I really didn't mind the pool view one. We could see the Uzima savanna in the distance just fine.

We stayed last week in a 1 bedroom pool view. There were not any savanna view rooms avilable when we checked in to the resort. Actually the pool rooms are not to bad, you have a good view of the pool and we saw animals a couple of times on the savanna next to the pool. We even saw the lion roar on the sunrise safari.

As an earlier poster noted there are only 5 Concierge level rooms. The odds of snagging them for a busy season (like the week after Thanksgiving) is practically nil. You need to make rental arrangements with an owner at AKL NOW so they can be on the phone at the first moment of the 11 month window. And then keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks. I am pending with an AKV owner, but am trying to make my final decisions. Thanks for all of your help. We decided that we want to be guaranteed a savannah view room, so we will not be going concierge this time around. I'm sure I'll be hanging around here more and more because my husband and I are considering buying into DVC after our next trip!

Ah, I first read that as you saw the lion at AKV and said I don't think so.

There are 5 two BR lockoff's in Concierge. 3 are Savannah view and 2 are pool view. I think they typically book them as two 2 BR and the rest as the smaller unit components. One is HA an I think they normally lock it off. If requested (and it's only a request), the odds are pretty good for success. Maybe 50/50 for a 2 BR and 66% chance for success for a smaller unit.
