Club 33 expansion and resulting new exteriors

That cocktail sounds Yummy! Does a store like Total Wine, have Chambord?

There are a lot of new pictures posted of exteriors and interiors, as well as one person's blog comments about it all. It sounds like the new Club 33 is glitzy and beautiful, the food is wonderful, but the history and Walt's influences are mostly gone. The old French lift is just what it looked like in the picture--a sad little booth for one.

Time moves on, things change, Disneyland changes--that I accept as did Walt--but I am deeply sorry that my very favorite part of DL has been drastically altered. Have we tossed aside a gift from Walt?

One person's negative comments :headache:
Although informative, MiceChat often has a negative outlook.

MiceChat comment on the new entrance:
Like the rest of the Club’s exterior changes, it’s not nearly as understated before, but it’s thankfully not obnoxious.

Disney Food Blog comment on the new entrance:
Today, the entrance remains understated. No big signs point the way to this exclusive location.

Ugh. The blog's comments regarding the NOS exterior issues are so saddening... :( I'll reserve full judgment until I see it in its completed form, but my expectations are very low.

Most of the time, Disney's renovations to the parks are very positive. For example, the renovations to DCA transformed it into a park worthy to sit across from DL. Moreover, I am rarely one to cry foul over changes in the parks simply because of nostalgia--I think change is necessary. Unfortunately, it appears that Disney did more bad than good with this renovation. In fact, it looks like these renovations really harmed the ambiance of one of the most magical areas of DL (and took away the Court of Angels to boot). It makes me sad--I just hope that NOS still retains that magical ambiance as a whole in spite of the new exteriors.

Also, the visibility of the renovated Club 33 seems so antithetical to the discreetness of the original Club 33. As a result of that and the overall loss of mystique, my interest in visiting Club 33 has substantially diminished. It's still on my bucket-list, I suppose, but I would easily choose 1 visit to the original over 1,000 visits to the new incarnation.

I think it looks nice, and because the walls are still up in some places I think there is more to come. I don't understand what all the fuss is about, I think it looks really nice. I actually like the big windows on the bridge, and the bright clean colors of the shutters etc, and I like the yellow doors.....

It looks like that quote is only talking about the doorway entrance itself, which I would agree is still understated. The gigantic windows on the overhead walkway on the other hand, not so much:

I did a poor job trying to contrast the different editorial positions taken by the two blogs, using the new entrance as an example.

MiceChat is negative, describing the entrance as "not obnoxious" :headache:
Food Blog is positive, "the entrance remains understated" :goodvibes

No, I did a poor job reading your post! I see what you mean now--my bad!

I have heard several very positive reports about the remodel from people I trust, so I will say that it sounds like my apprehension may be without much merit with regard to the club itself and what I feared would be history lost.

It's too early to tell about the exterior, but I agree that Disney is known for its meticulous attention to detail and I have to hope that they would not want to slack on this project since it's in the most popular part of DL. I still disagree with some of the changes, but as I said before, it would be silly to expect everyone to be 100% behind something of this magnitude. I also think that it can't have escaped the attention of the powers that be that there was quite a backlash of negative comments following the unveiling of the new exteriors, so thumbs-up to those who voiced them--just a little extra push to do it right.

I'm not sure how I feel about the exteriors yet but we had the opportunity to have lunch at Le Salon Nouveau this weekend .... IMO, They did a pretty amazing job.

I took a few pictures of the booths located between the main entryway and the main room of Le Salon Nouveau to share. The booths we pretty amazing and the pictures had lots of little "animated" surprises.

The vulture spoke to us as we were standing by the entrance to Le Salon Nouveau and said "How kind of you to visit us"

I was at DL this weekend and thought the changes looked much better in person than in the pictures I've seen online.

There are still a couple areas I hope they plus some more but I was pleasantly surprised that the new blended with the old better than I was expecting.

My biggest complaint concerns the wall with the off center windows, I actually thought the windows looked fine off center but the rest of the wall has no detail and the awning looks temporary, it looks unfinished so hopefully more work is planned for that area.

Thankfully I didn't think the new exteriors took any of the charm away from the New Orleans area at all and enjoyed the area as much this trip as I had in any previous trip.

Thanks so much for reporting in! I would love to dine in one of those booths, elaw--the HM booth looks especially cool. Is that you in the Mark Twain booth? Fun. How was the food?

Viva, I'm elated to hear that the exteriors haven't diluted the charm of NOS for the most part. It sounds like there is hope that the off-center window/wall will be fixed up in the near future, thank goodness!

That's actually my GF ... I'm almost always the one taking the pictures. The booths were really neat and the food was excellent ... we both had the Angus Sliders. Every few minutes something in the "Painting" would change or animate, it was sometimes very subtle but it kept us busy.

I was lucky to be invited to Club 33 back in 2011 and it was a wonderful experience and said once was good enough now with the new remodel it has me intrigued again!

A few questions is the lounge an open place for members to go to without a reservation or reservations still needed for the lounge? Have they changed the dress code? I saw a photo with a lady in the lounge with a tank top, shorts and flip flops! I haven't seen much pictures yet of the remodel, but liking the lounge and the patio area. I think the lounge was a great addition for members especially if you don't need a reservation. Looking forward to see the outside when we visit in October!
Enjoying the pictures of the inside from those of you who have already enjoyed the re-opening!!

For Le Salon Nouveau resort casual attire is appropriate. Not permitted are tank tops, cut offs, swimsuits, bare midriffs, and other types of beachwear.

Platinum members may visit the lounge at any point. Gold and Silver members may visit it prior to and immediately after their dining reservations.

Thank you Malcon for the photos. :thumbsup2

I'm all over those glasses if I'm lucky enough to return. They're fabulous!

I also like the logo.

Does anyone know if the one eyed duck made it through the rehab?
