Hello,

We added ourselves to the waitlist for Club 33 some time ago. One year ago, last October 2, 2015 we received an e-mail response back!!

The e-mail asked for a short family biography, references, etc. I sent in our biography but did not send any references, as we do not know anyone in the club, nor have any of us actually had the honor of dining there. We never heard anything back!!!

Do you think this is because we did not give any references?? Were we 'rejected' and they just didn't say anything??

Our next DL trip is April 30, 2017.. and I am beginning to plan rooms and dining etc and REALLY, REALLY want to be a member by then so we can dine in the club.

I am nervous about sending the club too many e-mails though... should I reach out?? Does anyone know if they accept new members who do not have any references? Perhaps that is the first step and there is still a long wait afterwards...?

Advice!

The lack of the references may have influenced whether or not you've heard back. Generally, references don't need to be people already in the club, unless they specified that. References are just for them to find out if you're "good people". Personal friends, usually.

I don't see a problem with contacting them with just a question as to whether you can still provide the requested information.

Heard from a member that it is no longer simply one in one out in sequential order based on the wait list position and they are vetting potential members with a lot of emphasis on referrals and references.

The fact that you got a response is huge. I would follow up with them.

Does anyone here live in AZ who is a member or has a friend who is a member? I'd love to take you out for coffee and pick your brain :)

No longer in sequential order? That might explain why we were on the list shorter than some... I hear those being on the waitlist for 4, 8, and 20 years!

Joining Club 33 is similar to applying for a job, where personal and professional references are important.
It's likely that the Club never sends out rejection letters.

Your sources are correct. There is no "Waiting List", but rather an "Interest List" -- allowing the Club to be more selective when offering new memberships.

Everyone on the waitlist was offered membership in 2012.

I think the references are a big part of it. I have a friend who has a mutual friend who is a member, and our friend recommended them for membership. (They never applied.) The recommendation was last year late Oct. They were contacted in mid November to fill an application, go thru the interview and such, and signed their membership paperwork in late Jan.

Contact the club again, and fill out the references portion so you can get back in the ball game.

Like Nonsuch said, there is no "Wait List", but an Interest list, and the club can go thru the list to select new members.

Malcon10t,

Just read your response to the the "Interest List" and have a quick question for you. I've been on the 'waiting list' since 2006 and I've received several letters from Club 33 over the years. The first letter came in Sept 2006 and was a basic letter discussing the different types of membership and explaining that if I was interested in being placed on the waiting list I would need to complete the enclosed form and return it to Club 33. My second letter came in May 2007 and was inquiring about my 'Confirmation of Interest'. I had to fill out a questionnaire that would confirm my serious intent to remain on the waiting list. I was given a month to return the questionnaire and if I missed the cutoff I would be removed from the wait list. I sent in my intent to join and received another letter around June of 2009 requesting that I fill out an online survey to provide my feedback about club 33. After filling out the survey, the club would donate $50 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for my participation. I filled out the online survey and that is the last correspondence I've had with the club. I understand that Club 33 offered a limited amount of new memberships in 2012, but I'm curious if they are still offering memberships to those on the original waiting list? I recently had the opportunity to dine at the club for a very special occasion and it got me wondering about my long lost application. I called Club 33 membership and asked if I was still on their waiting list and the membership advisor informed me that I was showing as "Interest" in their system. I then checked to see if they had my current address and they did. Any advice on how to get my application moving again? As of today I've been on the wait list 10 years, 1 month and 2 days.

It was my understanding (like Nonsuch said) everyone on the wait list in May 2012 was offered a membership. You had 30 days to respond, pay, and join. From what my friends have said, you need a member to recommend you to move up now. I am curious why you got skipped over.

Thanks for the reply Malcon10t,

I forgot I did receive an email in June of 2012 stating this and I completed the attached form and returned it:

Thank you for your interest in Club 33!

In honor of the 45th anniversary of Club 33 and the completion of the Disneyland Resort's multi-year expansion, we are adding a very limited number of new members. We are currently reaching out with membership information to those Guests who have been on our waiting list for the past several years. If you are interested in membership, please complete the attached form and return it to Club 33Member Services. We will contact you at a future date if membership becomes available.

Thank you,

Interesting..... I know the membership "Gold Envelope" arrived just before Mother's Day in 2012, as several friends and I all had family brunches at the DLH for Mother's Day. And I watched the squeals and got to read the letters on Mother's Day. I know many felt the club was highly understaffed for the response as they had to keep calling and emailing to get info. The people I know who got the letters had joined the waiting list between Feb 2005 and Mar 2006. I know the list closed in early 2007. I will see what I can find out tomorrow regarding timelines. I don't remember hearing anyone getting the above email.

If you are still interested in getting a membership, I suggest calling the club and ask about joining and what you should do.
