Clothes for December trip

You really need a mix of everything. When we went, we needed shorts some days and coats other days. I always needed them in the mornings and evenings.

On one of our December trips it actually got down into the low 30's. They actually cancelled our Parasailing appointment because it was only 32. Luckily we came from NY where it was freezing, so we had our winter coats and gloves with us. The stores sold out all of their gloves and hats and were scrambling to get more in. But the one upside to this was that the parks were almost empty early in the morning until around noon when it got above 40.

We brought pants, shorts, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, and fleece jackets. Most days we started in pants, ss top, and jacket, and took the jacket off when it warned up. One day the kids wore shorts and even went swimming; another day it was so cold we wished we had our winter coats, hats, and gloves (it was around 30°). Pack a lot.

A couple things to remember relative to the cold, even if from the north.

There is a lot of water as WDW, making the cold even more chilling feeling as the wind whips off the various bodies of water. Also, when you are home and it is cold, you typically ar in and out of cars, home, work, shopping, whatever. You are not walking long distances in the cold (typically) and standing around in it. You are doing both at WDW, thereby making the cold feel really cold, moreso than at home.

Just my observations after about 15 December trips over the years.

I couldn't agree with you more. It IS different. I mean you would think coming from Canada for a winter trip that I could handle temps in the 40's. However, on one of our February trips we were at Universal one day that it was in the 40's. With all the water around, and the cold wind we actually couldn't stand it and went back to the room. I kept thinking "What the heck.. this would be nothing at home?!?":confused3.
I think it made a significant impact because it was the last two days of our trip and we had been wearing shorts and swimming 2 days prior. It seemed to come out of nowhere and it wasn't pleasant.

It sounds like they will need to pack twice as much clothing as they would for a trip during the summer. One size gloves were not something I had thought about, but I will make sure to mention them to her.

Good friend of mine is planning a December trip. The temperature is typically between 53 degrees and 70 degrees. I'm thinking pants and short sleeved shirts with jackets would work well. For those who have been to WDW around Christmas, what works best for you? My friend is pooh sized if that helps.

2012 Christmas Eve-NYE
One day we were in Shorts and tshirts, one day we were in scarves and hats and sweatshirts and wrapped up in blankets.

Thats the thing about FLorida weather...if you dont like it, wait a lil bit, it will change.
