Ok cloth user do you use them while on vacation or do you take a vacation from cloth too? If you do use them how do you clean the bm's? I'm thinking we will just do spoosies but if its possible to stick with my cloth I would rather do that. Any opinions on cloth here at DIS?

Hmmm... good one. DD4 wore FuzziBunz until she trained herself at 20 months. However, we never went on vacation with cloth. You didn't mention what kind of cloth you're using, but I assume you're planning to use an afternoon break for laundry every day? In that case, I think it's possible, but only if you're really willing to carry around multiple poopy diapers all morning. Forgive me if the following is a bit gross, but there's nothing like plain language to get the point across :goodvibes

If the baby is still 100% breastfed, removing poo from the diaper is somewhat optional (as in, if there's a lot, you may want to remove some using a wipe or TP). We never rinsed our diapers until dd was eating solids. Remove diaper, remove insert, pop in washer, leave all day, wash every 24 hours.

If the baby creates more than that, or is eating formula and/or real food, you WILL have to remove the bulk of it. The "cleanest" way to do this is to use a wipe - they are fairly sturdy and won't tear or leave fuzzy residue as TP may. If you use flushable wipes, you can then deposit wipe+poo right in a toilet. Then put the used diaper in a ziploc or other sealable bag. Many people would recommend liberal use of Lysol wipes after "playing with poo". Personally, my cloth diaper lifestyle never really jived with the "everything needs a Lysol wipe" lifestyle. I like soap and water, myself.

I recognize that all these steps are rather inconvenient. The changing table is rarely right next to a sink or toilet. Plus, you'll have a wiggly kid to handle too. If and when available, a family restroom may be best - plus no comments from "well-meaning" people who can't understand the whole cloth thing.

When convenient, it may be easiest to use the Baby Centers at each park. The facilities may be much less crowded. And don't forget to try a few "dry (wet?) runs" at home - take the baby shopping when you think a poo is on the way. Then use the public restroom to find any pitfalls in your plans.

Alternatively, if the baby is fairly consistent, you could try using a disposable ONLY when a bm is expected, and use cloth the rest of the day.

Good luck!

We CD but we are doing sposies for our disney trip. We are driving and I just don't want to mess with packing them up. One alternate is to use sposies in the park but use cloth in your room. We have done that a few times on other vacations. That way I got away with taking a just few diapers and washed them every other day

We had planned to use sposies- until last night when during a trial run of the disposable diapers- our son completely broke out everywhere the diaper touched him!!!:scared1::scared1: We will try another brand of sposies this weekend- but we are thinking we may just take our cloth. We use BumGenius 3.0, and our own cloth wipes. I would take two small wetbags with a clean diaper and a wipe into the parks, and a larger wetbag for carrying the dirty ones. Then I can restock the smalls with clean ones from the diaper bag. This way I only have to take one small wetbag into the restroom.

Like I said- this is a preliminary plan, as until last night I really planned to leave the cloth at home. We are staying in a villa with washer/dryer, so washing isn't really a concern for me as much as I was just kinda looking forward to a break!!!:goodvibes

I would also make sure that you test sposies out before you go just in case of break-outs like the previous post. We always used sposies only on vacations.

Are you flying? When we were in cloth and traveled, we'd use cloth if we drove, but we'd use disposables when we flew. That way we could just buy diapers at the destination rather than trying to transport them.

I take a vacation from cloth. There's no way I want to bother with rinsing and washing diapers on vacation, and I ESPECIALLY don't want to be toting dirty diapers back to the room through a full day of FL heat!

I absolutely agree with the suggestion of trying out your intended brand of disposables before travel, because all 3 of my kids have had fit or skin issues with different brands. And I'd suggest that if you're flying and won't have a car, arrange a grocery delivery of the baby essentials you need - diapers, wipes, formula, baby food - rather than packing all of that from home, lugging it through the airport, and paying checked bag fees for it.

howdy! 11 mo. granddaughter gets rashy in sposies. will use prefitteds and pul covers (tinkle traps and imse vimse, mother ease air flow covers with flushable imse vimse liners) and launder at the campground laundromat every other day. wish us luck:thumbsup2 will take sposies and microfleece liners just in case it gets to be too much.

We are a Fuzzi Bunz family and our son used them exclusively until he trained at 21 months. He wore them everywhere, even camping! That is until Disney. Logistically, I couldn't figure out storage, travel and laundry so I took a break from them and enjoyed my vacation. 49 million diapers a day go into landfills, with the exception of Disney we didn't contribute to that so I was okay with not worrying about it when I was in the magical place! :goodvibes
That being said if you want to do it, it can be done. the CD mommies of the world support you! Good luck with your decision. :thumbsup2

I exclusive CD, except for Disney. Other vacations, I will use the CDs, but Disney is just too much for several reasons.
They take up much more space so when we had minimal space for packing (when flying) we opted for sposies.
This also means more space in the parks for both clean and dirty dipes.
Then I worried a bit about if someone stole my stroller or diaper bag. Cloth Diapers are expensive and I have personal attachments to some of them.
I do laundry in Disney-but my diaper laundry requires extra time and care. It took a while to find the right routine for my water at home-I do not want to waste time figuring it out at Disney.

I have and will CD for other trips- short weekend trips, beach vacations, just Disney is so busy and hectic that I give it up for those few days.

What about something like g diapers. The liners you keep and wash and the absorbent padding you simply flush down the toilet. Best of both worlds and sounds like a great compromise for Disney!

We cloth at home, but there was no way I was cloth diapering at Disney. We just got back from Disney and I am so happy I used disposables while there. It was nice to get a break from washing the cloth every other day! Our cloth diapers (BG 3.0) take up way too much room in the diaper bag at Disney.

Many people who have started with cloth and then try those say they are the *worst* of both worlds, LOL.

While we haven't done WDW yet, and we only did one day trips to DLR while DS was still in dipes, we traveled quite a bit while he was in dipes. And we never used a disposable dipe, not once he was 43 hours old I had control over what was on his bum.

For me, b/c of the many reasons we use cloth, I wouldn't be happy using disposables, it wouldn't be a vacation, it would be a guilt trip.

Bring things to carry the used dipes in, have a dedicated area in the diaper bag for those. Bring two big pail liners...we had two so that was simple...one held the clean ones, the other held the dirties. We never bothered to do anything even with the dirty-dirty ones, but we didn't do much with those at home, either (except for the two times he had rota, but those times were never while we were traveling, I'm just being specific here). We trusted our washer. :)

On our longer trips we stayed with family, and thankfully my child-free brother trusts his washing machine too, but if he'd felt yucky about me washing dipes I would have gone to a laundromat no problem. So while staying at a hotel I'd run to the laundromat as well. Especially b/c that makes it possible to take half or a third of the dipes that you'd have to take if you were not planning on washing whlie there.

So based on the travel we've taken, I would still use cloth at WDW.

We love our BG3's, but with airlines charging baggage fees, the time it takes to wash, dry, and stuff, and all the other things we have to carry around a theme park with 3 under 5 (only 1 in dipes though)--we use sposies! :goodvibes

We use cloth diapers at home exclusively. Occasionally leaving out disposables for our evening sitter.
For our trip to WDW we purchased Nature Baby diapers from Diapers.com. They are chemical free and also biodegradable. I knew that even when I tossed them in the trash that they would break down safely.
It gets so hot in FL that trying to keep dirty cloth diapers from smelling on a long park day would be impossible. As is rinsing them out in a crowded public restroom while safely watching the baby.
Just go with disposables. It's your vacation too!

I normally use cloth on small vacations. We will use disposable for our longer WDW vacation. If you use April09 on Diapers.com you get $10 off a $50 order and free shipping. I ordered my Disney vacation diapers and wipes yesterday. :thumbsup2

I did not do diapers at all in Disney however I have used cloth before ds PL. I would have taken cloth to Disney before going, however after my trip last week I think I might not. I was AMAZED how LONG everything took to dry there, even my bathing suit (yes, quick drying suit) took over 24 hours to dry, I cant imagine diapers drying time. I know that you will have a dryer, I just know that often mine did not dry fully in a drier so... also, it was so hot that I can only imagine how it could begin to smell that day. Anyhow, my two cents. I am sure it is possible and I wish you luck either way.
