I wonder why some contracts make it to closing quicker than others. We are also with Mason. All documents signed (both parties) and money received on March 29th. But our closing date is supposed to be Monday, April 10th. Your closing only took 2 days from documents in?!

Interesting. I'm not sure why yours would be delayed. Your Sellers definitely had theirs FedEx'd and received by Mason on the 29th? Or maybe theirs arrived later than yours? (Marcelo was our processor.)

You did send your processor an Edible Arrangements gift basket, right?? J/k.

Our funds were sent and confirmed on 3/30, so yeah it seems yours would have been ahead. Not sure what happened or was different with ours. I did check in with our processor on Wednesday to confirm he had everything and an estimate on the closing date which he said would be Thursday or Friday (turned out to be Friday).

At least yours is scheduled for the next business day and you'll be off to Disney probably on Monday. If the recording dept is closed today for the holiday then we will probably both be going in on the same day anyway.

Edit: Scratch that about the dept possibly being closed today. Earlier it wasn't showing in the OC register, but now our deed shows as having been officially recorded today.

I agree with your comments! We closed today (over a week since funds wired) and while I was broadly ok with that, closing I had hoped it would be sooner. Closing doesn’t seem to follow a linear patter…i.e always an average of 2,3,5,10 days (of course weighted to volume of contracts closing). But I see contracts where funds were wired on Tuesday and closed a day or two later with the same title company I have.

I have ‘21 points on my contract so I’m getting a little close to being able to make practical use of them.

Disney will be notified of the change of ownership within 1-3 business days. Please allow Disney 3-4 weeks to complete the transfer once notified.

Disney will notify you by email when the transfer is completed. The points can take up to an additional 14 days to show in your account upon completion of the transfer.

I'm currently working with two different title companies - Mason and Magic Vacation - so I'm glad I'll get to see how these two compare handling the process.

Different states have different statutes governing escrow/title & recording procedures which will take differing amounts of time to complete.
For DVC Hilton Head sales S. Carolina, like a lot of east coast states, requires you to use a lawyer to close, for example. VGC has to be handled per CA’s closing procedures & the deed has to be recorded in Anaheim CA, so the timeline to close there will be different than it is for the Florida properties. From what I’ve read Hawaii takes even longer.
