should have read this thread before I wired my payment. Sent the payment the day I received my docs. Seller is taking longer and some online investigation (Google search ) lead to their divorce information. Now, it makes sense and I feel sorry for them. But, shouldn’t the agent be upfront and keep the expectations on check from the beginning ? Not sure what the “standard” is. Now I know the contract is in a mix of divorce proceedings, have no idea how long it would take.

Glad to know Im not the only one who "online investigates"

Yes! We originally thought we were waiting on the buyers (who were slow to sign) and then found out their system was still down Friday. And they have not been communicative at all through this process.

Ugh a not great update. My dawdling sellers are MIA. Title company is reaching out to the agent for assistance in reaching them. Starting to accept this possibly not happening.

There is a contracted closing date, which is often times like perhaps 8 weeks after you submit to ROFR. My 6 weeks the seller took they actually missed the contracted closing date by a day and I guess in that circumstance I could have walked, in a very messy fashion. But when you are that deep you probably want the contract anyways.

But no, as a buyer you are stuck. Most (well basically everyone but a few of us) have their contracts close prior to their contracted closing date.

You could hold off on the wire transfer though. But clearly I enjoy letting my money be held hostage.

From almost everyone else 14 days is a long time for sellers to take, don’t pay attention to whatever I have going on, I’m ruining the statistics. The sellers should in theory want your money as much as you want their contract. So it doesn’t make a lot of sense for them to dawdle.

I want my contract and hope the seller does submit things timely in my hopefully pending sale. I just feel bad for those of you that have had closing drag on by inattentive sellers and wondered if in those situations a buyer has walked away. Wishing you all the best in the finalization of your contract. Hopefully your first trip with these points is extra magical!

After you close it takes Disney about 3 to 4 weeks to load the contract (and its points) into your account. If you are a new member you will receive an activation email just before the loading occurs.

Once the points are loaded you are good to go and can plan/book vacations.

There are points expiring at the end of September on this contract, and I was NOT guaranteed at all by the broker of being able to use them in time. I did however ask that the broker and title company be as speedy as possible because I don't want to just give those points back to Disney.
