closing cost

I for one have looked at my point totals and even though I was going to add on have decided that I will not at this point. I would love to have BCV every other year but feel that that cost is just too high. If I factor in dues and then closing cost and such I might as well just rent a hotel room for my stay there to use the pool .

We were told on our Dream cruise on 3/10, that effective Monday 3/14, the closing costs were not being covered by DVC anymore. They didn't speak of any "tiers" or anything like that. But they repeated it often that the closing costs would not be covered anymore.

PS- we added 100 points at AKL on that cruise.

Although I am fairly new to DVC I have read here that sometimes Disney doesn't really "annouce" things such as this, they kind of implement it and quietly go along. Does that seem like the case this time around? Just wondering. :confused3

heard from my guide yesterday that beginning march 14 add on have to play closing cost but it was a wash since they are giving incentives at 50 point add ons now

anyone else get this info as well

Does anyone know what the incentive is? Interested in BCV add ons and so far they are super pricy with Disney! Katherine

Previously sold out resorts almost never have price incentives and have not heard of any for BCV; dvcnews.com updated its information on prices today and it is not showing any discount for BCV but AKL, BLT and Aulani have a $4 discount for 50 point add-ons

When I talked to my guide last week about an add on he said yes we would have to pay closing costs. He said they'd be about $100.

Just wondering Wendy, which resort did you want to add on at ?

Did your guide say if closing costs for add-ons will be applied for all resorts or would it be for specific resort(s) only ?

Many thanks :)

We were asking about adding on AKV. I have no clue what it would be for other resorts. If we added on 50 the closing would be $103, if we added on 100 the closing would be $178. He said if we financed through them we could add the closing costs into the financing. We also talked about SSR but didn't go way into the details so I didn't ask about closing costs there. I plan to call him this week and find out though.

update on closing cost...

We added on 60 points at SSR today. The closing cost was $100.65.

So it seems if it's a smaller contract the cost runs around $100 or so.

So that is their cost to current members for the new tiered system? Start charging closing costs after the 3/20 deadline for resale. It is always something with DVD. We are supposed to be there most loyal customers, they assume we will pay anything.

More reason to add on resale!

Thanks for posting this info Wendy :) good to know! that's approx $1.68 per pt. Not too happy though to hear that they're now adding closing costs for us to add on directly :sad2:

Hope Jason or someone from TTS will be along soon to post what their current closing costs are on resales;theyve posted that info from time to time. Even though resale closings run higher we'd probably still go resale route unless we were in big hurry to get points asap.

:)

This is just another price increase. We always paid the closing costs before, but it was just mixed into the high purchase price. Now we get both. :thumbsup2

They are charging closing costs at this time. I just added a 100 points at SSR today and closing cost where $147.00 today.

The last I heard they were not charging closing for actual add ons. Was this a new purchase or a different title? If not either, I'd question it to make sure.

Approx 2 1/2 or 3 weeks ago a few people began reporting that their guides were telling them that the following week DVC would begin charging closing costs for add ons. Then there were a few reports from people getting off of cruises as well. So as of March 14th or so they have been passing along this cost for add ons as well as new purchases.

We added on 100 ponits at SSR. We have 250 points now. It was $99 per point and we Oct 2010 points(that is our UY).

10% down with closing cost was 1137.12. that would be $990 for down payment and $147.12 closing costs.

Has anyone bought since 3/20 besides me that paid closing costs. I rememeber the guide saying there is a smalling closing cost for the transactions but I was so excited my husband finely let me get more points I didn't even process that Disney used to pay for closing costs.

Disney charging closing cost amounts might stop people splitting their contracts into small contracts. I also noticed that the amount paid by melissac was half the cost through the TSS for a 100 points.

To me it just makes resale more desirable because the point cost is lower. As long as I can use resale points for all DVC reservations I'll be happy.

It really depends on when, how much and whether it's per contract or for the aggregate on a single purchase.
