I know this may sound like dumb question but What is the easiest route to the monorail from the Swan. We arent doing a park the first afternoon there but I wanted to take my kids on their first monorail ride??

If youre not going to a park, then the best thing to do would be to go and visit one of the monorail resorts for a little bit, check it out and then take them for a ride. I think visitors are allowed up to 3 hours parking.

The ride through the Contemporary would likely give them a bit of a rush (works for me every time). :p

You may also consider making the Epcot to TTC trip -- it's by far the longest. See if you can get transportation to the Epcot main gate. From the Swan, you may only have water transportation to Epcot.

BTW -- Catch the attention of a CM and tell them you're willing to wait for a ride up front. It should be no problem during off-peak times of the day, especially at the resorts.

Depending on kids ages and if they've ever been to Disney World before, this could be a tease to them. The MK monorail brings you right to the entrance of the park and kids may not understand that they can't get off with everyone else. For kids with more understanding, I think Minky's idea is great. Work in a visit to one of the monorail resorts for maybe a light lunch or snack. If you're really adventurous, you can get off the monorail at the MK entrance and walk towards the boat dock. Hop on the launch for Fort Wilderness and visit there for a little while. They have a petting zoo, pony rides and a nice buffet lunch spot. On the allearsnet.com website, Deb has all the restaurants listed for each resort and I think all three of the monorail resorts have a counter service restaurant available.

The Epcot monorail is a much longer ride and goes right over the park. If you're staying on site with a car, you'll be given a pass that entitles you to free parking at all the Disney parks. You can drive over to the TTC, park and take the Epcot monorail for the roundtrip. Otherwise, you can get a Disney bus right outside the Swan to the TTC. Another option for you would be to ride the boats around Crescent Lake. They make stops at Epcot and MGM as well as the resorts. It's less travel for you and it might be less crowded.

I agree with Tammi that it could be very hard on little ones to be that close to MK and not get off there!

If you will have a car and your children are old enough to understand or so little that they are clueless I would drive to the TTC, park and make both the MK and EPCOT roundtrip circuits. If you have extra time you could even take the resort monorail and visit the CR, Polynesian &/or GF.

If you don't have a car, take the Swan bus to the MK (you will be right by the MK gates here though:earseek: ) and hop the MK monorail to the TTC. Here you could take the EPCOT monorail roundtrip. Back to the TTC and take the MK monorail back to the MK and take the bus back to the Swan.

There is no transportation from the Swan to the front of EPCOT where you board the monorail. The boats only go to the International Gateway and you would have to use a day's admission to walk through EPCOT to catch the monorail.
