Closest rental car agency to SSR?

Hi all!

I would like to rent a car to do some offsite things for a couple of days. Anyone know if there is a rental car agency somewhere close to SSR? Or somewhere I can get close to with Disney transportation?

Dollar is the closest. It is located inside the Regal Sun resort. If you take the DTD bus and get off at the first bus stop the Regal is the resort right across from the bus stop. Also use the promo code Kisse for a %10 savings. Here is the link for that location

The next closest is Avis located inside the Hilton hotel which is about an 8 minute walk from DTD.

Avis is located in the Hilton also across the street from DTD... Hilton is the first Hotel On hotel plaza dr (I think that is the name) on the right side.
Avis will also send a van to pick you up free of charge

We stayed at SSR in March and used Dollar...just walked there on Hotel Plaza Blvd on left side...very easy...but said would have picked us up and tried to take us back when we dropped off car but we enjoy walking...most of the companies will pick you up Alamo and National are at Dolphin we use them too. you can walk there from the Epcot resorts or Epcot or DHS too.

Buena Vista Palace - across the street from SSR - also has car rentals. Alamo and National I believe.

Great! I knew I'd get lots of good info here I stayed at the Buena Vista Palace once, that is an easy walk over there. I will check them all out and compare prices but happy this looks like it'll be easy to do!

Be careful with the Dolphin and Car Care center. I found that the Alamo prices there to be triple what they are at the airport. For example next week we are renting a mid size for 8 days and the price quoted and the Dolphin and CCC were $260. but the airport price just $84.00!

Yikes! That is a big difference. I was thinking of getting one nearby SSR because we are flying in, but not back. Taking DME to SSR, staying a week and then DH and DS will drive down to meet us, going on to the Keys with them. Maybe it'd be worth it to stop by the airport on the way back, have DH pick us up, but didn't really need a car all week.

Is it possible to use DME a few days after we arrive? Taking a rental car from MCO, return it after a couple of days, then use DME back to SSR?

I've only used DME once, I don't recall them really looking closely at anything but I could be wrong.

Yep you can use DME once going to the resort and once coming from the resort and it does not have to be the days that you check in or out. If renting at the airport all week is cheaper than a few days rental at the Dolphin or Car Care center why not get it for the week! Gives you the flexiblity to do what ever and save $$$$.

It's been awhile since I've used DME but you get a voucher, right? So I just use that on the day I return the car, correct?
I really appreciate you telling me how you did it, That's a great rate, wouldn't mind that at all for a week!
