Closest grocery store?

Any suggestions for the closest grocery store to FW?

I'd like to stop before getting to the campground (I know I'll never want to leave once we get there!).

We'll be coming down Route 4 - is there one that is easy off and on??

I know there is a Win Dixie a few miles from FW. I found it the second day. I don't know the names of the streets but I can give you directions.

When leaving FW take a left follow the road and you will go thru a blinking light. When you get to the end of the road take a right. (When I was last there in May this road was being worked on). Go until you reach a major intersection. There will be gas stations, hotels and restarants on this cross street. There is a sizzler on the other side of the road looking toward your left. Take a left at this intersection and the Win Dixie will be about a half mile on your right just after the package store.

Winn-Dixie, Publix and Gooding's (more expensive) all have stores located no more than 1 mile outside of Downtown Disney near the Crossroads. I don't have exact driving directions to any of them from Rte. 4 but you can look on www.publix.com or www.winndixie.com to find the stores. They might have maps or driving directions.

If you take a right on 535 (instead of a left to go to Winn Dixie), they just opened up a super walmart maybe 5 miles up on the right. I found it easier to turn left out of the campground parking lot, go down to the first light, make a right and then follow the road signs to 536. 536 runs right into 535 and you miss the traffic at downtown disney. To return to Ft. W, just reverse the directions, but take the Downtown Disney exit off of 536 and go straight at the light. This allows you to take the back entrance into Ft. W. The new walmart is nice, but be prepared, no one speaks english in that store. It took me almost 20 minutes just to find a can of manwich sauce .

Google has a great way to find things. Go to

http://local.google.com

In the what field type "grocery". In the where filed type "Lake Buena Vista, FL"
Then search. It gives you a list of stores and a map of where they are.

There are a bunch of stores within two miles.

You can also do this for the "Super Walmarts"

The closest is about 8 miles away.

It's a great way to search for local services and attractions.

Publix is my favorite... The closest one I have found is Publix Regency Village Shopping Center.

Driving Directions:

Exit the Disney complex on Hotel Plaza Blvd (Lake Buena Vista) to 535, turning right on 535.

Drive under I-4, turning left at the first light after you cross under I-4. This should be Vineland Ave.

Continue on Vineland Ave, pass the outlet stores (nice center) and follow the signs to Publix.

This is about 5 minutes further than Goodings, but you save a bunch!

ITA with this. Tim had posted this info before our trip in
January of 2004, and it was PERFECT. Super easy to get to, and there is also a Walgreens (which we needed since DS had an ear infection)

If you go to Publix, go to the Deli and get a fresh made while-you-wait sub. Makes an inexpensive quick easy meal, with chips and drink included in sub meal price. One of the things we look forward to when we go to Florida.
