I totally agree with the lack of DSA's in the Parks !! I too have asked and still could not locate the one they directed me too !So I found my own !! If you want me to follow the rules then give me enough places to follow them in !!! AK is the worst !! But at Epcot they are scarce too !! There should be one in each country , lord knows there's alcohol in each!!The Seas is the pits !!There should be a smoking area close to each restaurant too ! If there were enough then the rule breakers would decrease significantly!!

I sent WDW an email today. I pretty much summed up my story and expressed my displeasure with the current treatment of smokers at WDW. Please take the time to express your feelings as well. Suggest more DSA's in the park and DSA's at resorts that give you protection from the weather. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and I think it is time for us smokers to be that vocal minority!

I received an auto email that said I would be contacted within 10 days, so we'll see what happens.

Can someone tell me where the current DSAs are at AKL? I am staying at Kidani Village the 1st week of February and my sister is a smoker.

Did you check the resort maps in the first post in this thread? The resort DSAs rarely change, but you can always call Member Services and request "near a designated smoking area".

I am just back from the Dolphin and want to report that we never had a problem finding a DSA. At first I was worried because it didn't seem from maps that there were many. I found many around the resort. We were even allowed to smoke at the Cabana pool bar too which was surprising. It was nice to be able to have a drink and a smoke at the same time!

A CM from WDW called me yesterday about my email. She was very kind and understanding about my story. I tried to make my point of view known without being too strong. I told her that people were very positive about the "no smoking" policy initially and that from what I could see, people tried to do the right thing. Of course, I did tell her that I felt like as a smoker, I was unwanted at WDW. She assured me that they wanted to do the right thing by smokers...blaahblahblah. I did mention some of the concerns from this board including the concern of parents being separated from kids at the resorts, the lack of DSA's that were protected from the weather and the total lack of DSA's at the parks.

She said she would communicate the info to the appropriate people. PLEASE EMAIL WDW AND LET THEM HEAR THE SMOKER'S SIDE OF THE STORY AND TELL THEM WE NEED OUR DSA'S BACK!

we drove over to Kidani Village to check it out in July. there are only 2 DSAs. one outside the lobby off to the side nearer the bus stop. the one in the pool area is really bad. it's in a little hallway, near the bathrooms. ugly, but at least covered.

AKL is the least smoker-friendly resort (due to the animals).

Yes, you may smoke anything legal there, and FYI there are no specific DSA's at Downtown Disney, you are free to smoke ( politely ) at any outside location. I enjoyed a cup of Cuban coffee at there outside cafe, with my smoke.

The most friendly smoking resort is GF, which offers smoking outside each building AND a beautiful veranda ( covered ) upstairs and downstairs at the resort.

I was there in December, and noticed too that the DSA's at Epcot had been moved. It was frustrating, as I had just been there in October, and found very few of the old spots left. It's hard when you absolutely need one, and don't want to break the ever changing rules.

The worst resort for smokers is WL. Stayed there in December and never will again.

Thanks, just want a quiet place to get away for a few hrs and puff on a Montecristo #2! Dw says I can go down when our ds and dd 4 1/2 are asleep!

I agree with GRAMOFONE on DTD. It is a very smoker friendly place to go and hang out.

I think the worst resort for smokers though is AKL since they only have two spots, one off to the side of the pool and one in front near the path to the bus stop. On one trip I had to walk the length of the resort, take the elevators down and then out. Even with a fast walk it took over ten minutes to go down for a smoke. BWI is really difficult too, depending on what floor you're on. :headache:

My two favs are SSR and Poly since they have really easy access to DSA's. ;)

We are staying at CBR, any recommendations of room requests close to smoking area? Thanks

We stayed there in June and loved it! Take a look at the CBR map. The U shaped buildings with a DSA in the middle actually have a courtyard that is a DSA. I'd ask for any of those buldings with a room facing the court yard. Get a ground floor romm and you could possibly walk our of your room, cross the sidewalk (may 6 steps) and be in the DSA. They are nice with benches and and round tables with umbrellas. we stayed in the Jamaca sections. Congrats! You'll love it!!

1st , excuse typos, hand in splint. I'm at wdw now! :lovestruc Went to MK yesterday and headed to DSA by Tony's( that was a DSA 4 weeks ago), I lit up got ready to put out...NO ASHTRAY.:scared1::mad::confused3::mad: Lady smoking near me said, "it was here 2 days ago, cm told me NO, but I kept seeing everyone smoking, so.." Everyone around when questioned, was shocked when they realized that it was not a DSA because all but one of them had just been recently and it was. I don't know what to say.

2nd FW is awesome!!! I never want to stay anywhere else!!! ...just came in from the deck where I enjoyed relaxing and smoking to my heart's content, it dont get no better!:banana::cool1: The cabins are the most smoker friendly place at WDW!

Hi all,

We're staying at OKW in March and I was wondering how the DSA's are there. Are they mostly as depicted on the map? Only five for the whole resort? I hope there are a lot more - five seems kind of sparse for such a large resort...

Second, thinking about doing Typhoon lagoon in March. Again, according to the map there are four of them - is this still the case? I can plan out where to roost best if I can get near a DSA. http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/typhoon.htm

TIA!
Karen :flower3:

As far as OKW goes, it's one of the most smoker friendly resorts on site! There is a smoking area with bench in front of each unit. The way OKW is setup it's like walking outside your front door a few steps and you're there! It's our favorite for that reason.

Whew - thanks I was worried. :goodvibes

According to the map there weren't very many. I was having visions of having to take a bus to one or something.... :upsidedow

as far as typhoon lagoon goes, there is a DSA by the bar. at rope drop, go right. head towards the bar and stake out a few loungers near by. that way all day you only have to walk a few steps!
