I have a very messy sewing area right now. Too many projects going at once. I built this space for scrapbooking a few years ago and now it is used for mostly sewing.

Be prepared for Disaster.

Don't know why the picture is blurry? Perhaps I moved....can you find a hidden mickey?

All you had to do is tell me I screwed up..lol I could take it.
Let me fix it right now :thumbsup2

I started to PM you, but then I saw that a few other people had it that way too! So, I figured a post would be the quickest way to do it! :thumbsup2 Then, I double checked mine to see if I had it right! :rotfl2:
Just got back from the fabric store. I was looking for material to make a couple of girl things for the Art's and Crafts Auction at the kids' school. This is what I came back with. Opinions please. I don't have much confidence in my fabric picking skills for girls.

This is for an A-line and a pair of Capris with cuffs. Probably a small size, like 18 - 24 mos.

And this is for a Simply Sweet. Probably in a size 3 or 4.

This Auction has given me the excuse I needed to try to sew some girls stuff. I will be sure to post when I am done.

Also, last night I made another pair of PJ bottoms for the sale. Will start on a top tonight.

I think everything looks great!

I saw the Mickey!!!

My sewing "area" is my dining room table, and a pile of boxes and baskets next to my dining room table, and a corner of my didning room, and a rather large unorganized section of my basement that looks like a fabric store blew up in it! No way am I posting pictures of that!

Oops! I forgot to quote. On the sewing area.

I have the same issue, except smaller. I need to design a useful area in my dining room to use for sewing. I found a few articles that I think may be useful. I think I will pck and choose from the things I like.

HTH!!

Hi all, it has been a long time since I have been on-I have been lurking here and there tho and what great stuff. Everyone has come such a along way! Life has definitely been in the way! My DH has been laid off 2 times in 2 years, but is finally back to work! My 28 year old SIL was diagnosed with Inflamatory Breast Cancer back in June and after a hard battle the Doctors have just told her that it is terminal. So we are squeezing in a birthday trip for her in a few weeks and she is going to renew her vows. She found out on their 2nd anniversary in November that the cancer had spread to her spinal fluid. So we are hoping that a little Disney magic will help her feel a little better right now and inspire her to push on a little longer!

With that being said I am trying to make a few customs for my kids because it is unlikely that my Disney-hater husband will want to go back anytime soon. Can anyone tell me what pattern was used for this top? Thanks and it is great to be back on the boutique board!

I used New Look 6613 for the Epcot dress.

I am so sad to hear about you SIL. I will add her to my prayers.

Hey ladies! I was looking for a new machine today for under $300. and I came accross this:
http://www.hsn.com/todays-special_xh.aspx?o=!HPTS&ocm=todspc&cm_re=TS*4624360*na

I want something with a rolled hem feature or an overlock stitch because I do not have a serger and this has it. It also has free shipping today. Just wondering what all you experts think about this. I only have an old Brother with basic stitches that I use. I need something new.

Is this worth it or is it junk? Am I better off with something else?

Thanks for your opinions!

What is a rolled hem or overlock feature?? You mean I dont' have to double iron and then sew??? What??? Is there an easier way?? is there a special foot for it? is the same one as the binding foot?

Hi all...just checking in...seeing how all of you guys are...

Granny update...MUCH improvement today. She is able to put 9 words together!:cool1: She is feeling great...they started her new meds today. We will see how she is doing with that later.

To keep myself busy today:badpc: ...I did my taxes:crazy2: Just glad they are done. Good news is...Disney is now paid for

I have washed and ironed my fabric for my bowling shirt for the big give and will be sewing it tomorrow!

And look...I got me a working Big Give button too!:thumbsup2

So sorry about your SIL. I will pray for a miracle.

Well this afternoon my seam ripper and I are becoming good friends!

I don't have any girls in my house, but I am a girl so I'll tell you that I love the fabrics! Great choices! I'm so jealous that you have a chance to sew for girls; I have only sons, only nephews, and all my friends have little boys. Where are all the girls?

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. She is still feeling ok right now, but her body is slowly starting to reject the chemo. We look forward to getting away with her and celebrating what could be her last bday in grand style at Disney. I am grateful that my kids will have those memories and pictures to cherish forever. I am just sad that my DS 2 1/2 probably won't really remember her which breaks my heart!

Sorry to ramble.. Snubie thanks for the pattern. I actually have that here in my stash so I think I will CASE that right now!

I think this one has a rolled hem foot. I have seen pictures of other machine's "rolled Hem" and it looks like a great little feature. It makes an adorable rounded hem at the end of the fabric and looks so cute on ruffled pieces. It just seems like it would be so nice to have something to finish off seams so quickly. I don't know what a binding foot is, I would guess you would have to use binding with that one. This one just uses the machine thread. It also comes with a ruffler foot which I need desperatly!

Yes, where is Karen? Maybe she is being held hostage by the cricut machine?:confused3 Wherever she is I hope she stops in to say hi. I miss her. Also where is sweetstitches?

My prayers are with your family as well, both my mom and I battled cancer so I know how scary it can be. . . so sad she got the news that it was terminal though. Thankfully she is surrounded by a family that wants to have fun and enjoy the time she does have left, what a wonderful blessing that is!

Sorry, I'll keep her in my prayers. Don't forget she will probably get tired at Disney and need to rest during the day. I know when I was going through chemo I was tired all of the time.

Thanks and I agree about the lack of girls. This will be the first time I sew anything for girls. It is for a silent auction to raise money for the kids' school, so I figure there will be people there with girls, or granddaughters or nieces or friends with girls, cause I certainly don't have any.

I have a few little finishes to share:

Here is two water bottle holders that are part of a Big Give parcel! I made them with a great free online tutorial. I have been wanting to try them for ages and it worked out great. I am going to make 6 for us for our upcoming trip. What an easy way to carry water around the parks with you!

The tutorial is here in case anyone else wants to try:

Hi guys! It is really nice to see how many of you have the Big Give buttons in your signatures!!!

I've noticed though that quite a few don't direct people to the Big Give site. If you could take a momment and change the code in your siggy so that when people click the button, it takes them to the site, that would be great!!! If you need directions for doing that, you can get the code here:

http://s3.excoboard.com/exco/thread.php?forumid=55881&threadid=458810

Just copy and past the code below the picture you like into your Dis siggy (taking out the spaces).

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Ok, I added one.

What and awesome idea those water bottles are! Those would be so handy at Disney! They look great, too. Good job!

I love the hoodie. Looks like Andrew does, too!

Wow...I am jealous...what a great price. I need to add this to my "visualization board"!!!
