They are super easy to make. Up until I bought the pattern I didn't have a pants pattern that was easy to do. I only had a store bought pattern and it never would have held up through all of the pairs of pants, shorts and capris that I have made in the last year. That's why I bought it and I always recommend it to someone who is just starting out.
Oh, I see... the one I bought is by Portobellopixie and it is has many sizes. The patterns I buy are printed on this heavy duty paper, so they tend to last a long time. I trace them onto sewer cloth to cut the pattern out.
My baby boy is sick! His temp is 103.5, he keeps moaning, it's so sad!
Poor thing! I hope he is feeling better!
You just print out the pattern pieces and tape them together and then cut them out and use them like normal.
This is one reason I can figure out why people would like these patterns. Tracing patterns is my least favorite part. That is why I like Children's COrner patterns. THey print out the sizes all separately.
I think the snow white design is from ebay seller Divas doodles. I have ordered the sleeping beauty one and hope to make it in the morning!
Sue
Thank you.. I want to get those designs.
I felt the same way. I had an easy pj pattern I used so I bought the easy fit pants but didn't use it for a while. Then the child grew. Now my pattern was useless because I cut it out in the smaller size. With the e-books you can print out whatever size you need and cut it right out. Also, they are two pieces, instead of four that the commercial patterns usually have. That's two less seams to sew. Also, Carla give directions for lengthening and shortening and adding a cuff. With the commercial patterns you are on your own for customizing. That's why I like Carla's pattern!
Well with the commercial patterns I buy they usually all give options for embellishing. I usually just place my pattern pieces on the fold and cut them out as 2 pieces instead of 4. One of my sewing buddies taught me that.
I think I still might get the CarlaC ones though just because I like the idea of printing them out. Sad huh? LOL
I must have at least 3 pants patterns. I really don't need another, but I just keep wondering if this is going to be way better than the ones I make.
Thank you ladies for all the input.
Finally got 2 more sets finished.. I am on a princess kick I think!
Lori
Really adorable! You did a great job. She looks so pleased.
Cute dresses Lori!
UGH! I lost my quotes too! Whoever asked, I found my small world fabric on ebay quite a while ago. It is hard to find.
I am looking for it! I want some so badly now! I have been searching on ebay to no avail!
I finished my first dress last night!
I had some issues with the one seam - closing it up by hand - but, overall I'm very happy with how it turned out. It is the a-line dress pattern from YCMT's website that you all recommended.
You did a great job on your first dress!
Since school was cancelled, Leighanna wanted to do a photo shoot with the outfits I have done so far. I still have a few more planned, I just don't know if I will have enough time.
Princess Feliz:
Tinker Bell Feliz:
Minnie dress:
I have shared a couple of those before, but I think they look cuter on!
They are wonderful! I am aspiring to sew my next Feliz as good as you did yours! I LOVE that tink fabric! My JoAnns and Hancocks don't have any tink fabric at all!
She looks so pretty in those dresses!
Let us know how this works. I have almost bought this several times.
I am so excited I just found out i should have also gotten a $75 shopping spree at the dealer I bought my machine at so I am going tomorrow and getting the big brother embroidery thread set because I can use the $75 toward that then the balance will be 40% off since that dealer give 40% off accessories for 30 days after you buy a machine! SoI will get the huge 62 spools of thread with the wooden stand for about $66
that means nothing in my house is safe everything may be embroidered!
Congrats on your new machine. I have 2 brother machines, and I love them both!
Get ready for
TOO MUCH LILYS!
So I bought the Feliz pattern months ago thinking I would use it to make Lily's Valentine's/Chef Mickey's dress. Cut to yesterday where I realize I don't have time to learn a new pattern, especially one I'm askeered of! So I cheated and made a Vida with ruffles.
I had to bribe Lily to model by letting her take her babies outside for a walk. And yes, her hair is wet
I should've outlined the gloves with black.
and I had to throw in this photo with her babies because today they were named "Minnie and Tessa" Me thinks her mom spends to much time on the disboards.
Oh my goodness! You have outdone yourself. You did this in one day??? WOW!!! I just love it! I am trying to decide on what to put on my Vida. Thank you for such beautiful inspirations!
Mine is the disney one.
I have 3 spools now of the bobbin thread so hopefully I will be set for a bit.
Has any one ever tried using coffee filters as a stabilizer in their machines? My sewing shop uses them for the samples and they looked great to me!
Idid buy some brother iron on stabilizer since I only had water soluble and tear away.
I am shocked that a dealership would use coffee filters. I was always told to only use embroidery stabilizers because it would void the warranty on mymachine if I used other things. I know alot of people try to use sewer cloth that you can buy at Lowes as stabilizer too. I just use it to trace my patterns onto. You can actually get embroidery stabilizer for pretty cheap. Especially tear away which is what i would imagine the coffee filters would be used as? Some shops sell them by the yard. This one place I found it was like 20 cents a yard. Anyhow.. sorry for the rant. I was just yelled at by several people for ever suggesting using anything that wasn't embroidery stabilizer. I've heard of people using saran wrap instead of water soluable topping.(like you put on top of towels and on anything with nap)
You should visit
www.sewforum.com and look in the embroidery section. There are tons of good links there that show you what kinds of stabilizers to use on different things. Plus the members there seem to know everything about embroidery. I have learned so much from them. You don't NEED to use a topping on top of fleece, but it would depend on how thick it is. If it was thick I would use some just to make sure everything lays nice and flat. I'm a little paranoid though as you can tell.
You just want to use a topping like vilene or water soluable stabilizer on things with a nap like towels or minky dot or something like that.
