I can't agree more about CarlaC's patterns. I use them all the time!
I don't think I have picked up a commercial pattern in a couple of years now, except for the Farbenmix ones.
Speaking of Carla's patterns. I just finished this Simply Sweet dress for our trip. Four down, a couple of more to go!
I also used the quilting block tutorial on YCMT's blog to add the hem detail.

No model today, she is too busy playing with her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stuff to give me any free time!:rotfl:

That is soooooo cute!!!! I love the fabric. My 17mo old is a MMCH obessed toddler. Where did you find it?

Tom, This is AMAZING!!!! Where did you find that awesome fabric????? I want to do a simply sweet top today, but am not sure exactly how to do it - I cut out the waist length bodice, but then what do I do for the ruffle? im not sure which page those directions are on!! Im a little confused - lol!!!

I was able to measure little Emily today at church!! lol!! now I can start her dress after the Rumba is done!!

We're not Aggies in this house. (sorry, Shannalee!) My DH and DS are Longhorn fans, with Tech being their second choice. The reason for this is that my parents live in Lubbock, so they feel a certain obligation to be Tech fans. :rotfl2:

I've been in Texas all of my life, except for the few years that I went away for college. I was born in Beaumont (actually Nederland, but lived in Beaumont). I've lived in Fort Worth, Paris, Garland, Port Arthur, Sherman, San Antonio, Garland again, Denton, San Antonio again, Odessa and now in Longview.

Don't worry, I won't hold it against you ;) LOL! We have tons of Longhorn friends. However, my 6 yr old daughter is a little more fanatic. Any time she sees a Longhorns bumper sticker or shirt, she feels the need to turn the horns down and say "Saw em' off"

We lived in Garland when we were first married :) On the Rockwall side.

The MMCH fabric is a top sheet to a sheet set I bought a couple of years ago! It might still be available. I got it at Wally World.

Ooh!! I love using sheets and pillow cases. I hadn't thought of looking for any for Mickey. I am always searching for princesses to applique.

My daughter is the biggest Marie (from Aristocats) fan. I thought it would be great to make her something for our trip in October. I was thinking pink and black, just seemed like the colors would fit the whole Aristocat/Paris theme. I stumbled upon this fabric on :wizard:

and I LOVE IT!!!! Question is has anyone seen this anywhere where it's not $20/yard :scared: . That's a little...ok a lot :faint: ...more than I wanted to spend.

Thanks!

That is not just Simply Sweet-- it is Simply Stunning!

Ok totally not clothing but I made some progress this weekend. I wanted to make a baby quilt for a couple at our church having their first. They are really young and have only been married for a year or so so they're still just starting out. I think they're 22 or so...anyway, I got to start it Friday, got it finished yesterday:

I'm gonna have to make some of those skirts for my DD. She hates wearing pants. Maybe once I clear out a couple of projects in my sewing room my DH won't cringe if he sees me start something new.

Wow! What a great job. It is so pretty. I wish I could quilt.

here is clints big give shirt.

Love it! I really love the way you did quilting on the bottom. Very original!

I LOVE the patchwork detail at the hem! Genius!

It sounds like the Simply Sweet is the pattern of the day! I'm working on a Valentine's version in between Dising!

The only place that I have seen that is on ebay.

I believe you are correct. I am about to go cut one out for Mya's Cinderella dress.

I'm truly amazed by what has been made and wondered if the feliz and vida are real difficult for a relatively novice sewer? I've only really made one dress and that was over a year ago! Time for me to really put that brother machine to use. I still haven't embroidered yet with it. And where do you get your patterns from?

I think lots of us (actually I know lots of us) get our patterns from www.youcanmakethis.com and our favorite pattern author is CarlaC. Get whatever bundlepack looks the best to you and add on when able or necessary. Using her patterns and following her directions made it possible for me to finish a Vida. The directions that come with it are literally like 10 small steps. Where Carla's directions are literally 100 pages of step-by-step instructions. There is as big difference and hers are so exact!

Guess What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Temp since 7pm tonight!:cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:
I think he is finally over it, now I'm praying no one else gets it!

Fantastic! I am sure that is such a relief!

Wow! That is fast and you did a beautiful job. I am sure they are going to love it, that is so generous of you!

I found this great mickey fabric....and of course I can't save the picture so I am posting the site.

Here is some minnie also......... http://www.thefabricfairy.com/Your-Favorite-Girl-Mouse-Knit-Fabric-p/1247.htm

It's description is Aloha-mouse cotton knit fabric...I am considering buying some.

Check it out!

Cute fabric! I love the Aloha Mouse one, it would be perfect for Ohana! Now I just wish I knew how to use knit fabric!

How perfect would that first one be for O'Hana's????

Oops, didn't realize you had already said that!

My suggestion would be to buy whatever bundle she has and purchase additional patterns as available. You will eventually use ALL of them. Her patterns truly are the staples of my sewing repertoire! They are so versatile, and easy, and VERY cute! I can't say enough good about her patterns. Any seamstress should own EVERY SINGLE ONE of them! And, no, she's not paying me to say that!

I am seconding this!

I haven't seen much with the Aristocrats on it so that might be where you have to buy it. Sorry!

I am joining in the Texas discussion - I am in McKinney which is north of Dallas by about 30 miles. Hey to all of my fellow Texans, I didn't know there were so many of us!

And I am also joining in on the Simply Sweet group. I am starting on my girls Valentine's Day dresses. My older two are wearing Vida's and my baby is wearing the Simply Sweet dress that I will make into a stripwork jumper (but I use the simply sweet pattern). I love having three girls and dressing them is so much fun but using the same fabrics over and over for three dresses is kind of tiring! I always want to move onto something else after the first one.

To the person thinking of getting a bundle -

you may eventually want all the patterns -lol = but is there a bundle with 2 of them in it? the other day I asked about one of the bundles with a pattern I already had, and they said if I emailed Sherri, I could swap out the other pattern - so maybe they would!! doesnt hurt to ask!!

Just finished the Rumba - its pretty cute! Now on to the simply sweet top to match.....its with the Valentines animal print from Joanns....

okay "friends" i have a super strange request...

My daughter has a report on Tennessee. One of the pages she has to interview someone from there, who no longer lives there...only we know no one. is anyone willing to answer these questions for my 9 year old daughter?

1. Name
2. Where did u live in the state?
3. What is the state like?
4. Why did u live there?
5. What were the main products grown or made in your state?
6. What kinds of work did you or your family do?
7. What did you do for recreation?
8. What did you like least about the state?
9. What did you like most about the state?
10. How is it different from the state you live in now?
11 What else would you like to tell me about the state?

Thank you so much for your time, we reallly appreciate it.

-Michelle (and Chianna)

I'll jump on the Texas band wagon. My mom was born in Bryan, TX and my dad lives in Lufkin. He has lived in Texas since I was 5 and I am now 31. And my grandma's sister lives in Arlington.

Lufkin! That is where my dad is from. Grew up there and graduated from Wells High School. My grandfather used to run the only gas station in Wells, a Skelly station!. My uncle was the county judge there for a very long time as well. He got a couple of streets named after the family. I haven't been there in many many years though. Never cared for it but that had more to do with my family issues than the city itself :P

I think Linnette once posted a purse made with the Disney Fabric Art squares....Has anyone else made anything with them that you would like to share?

Another Texan reporting in! My son is an Aggie who now lives in Michigan not too far from Heather and Teresa LOL - I have lived in San Antonio all my life, except for the 7 years I lived in Austin a looong time ago.
