My suggestion would be to buy whatever bundle she has and purchase additional patterns as available. You will eventually use ALL of them. Her patterns truly are the staples of my sewing repertoire! They are so versatile, and easy, and VERY cute! I can't say enough good about her patterns. Any seamstress should own EVERY SINGLE ONE of them! And, no, she's not paying me to say that!

Thanks Shannon! I plan to :)

By the way, I live in Bryan, TX. Not too far away from you. What is a 4hr drive in Texas right?? I actually have family in that area. Small world :)

I totally agree with what you said. I have worn out so many copies of her patterns. It's a good thing that I can just keep printing out new ones.

I just looked at CarlaC's patterns. Too cute!!! I want to do one of the bundles. I wish there was a make your own bundle. I want the stripwork jumper, patchwork twirl and simply sweet :) Oh, I want the easy fit pants too :)

Don't forget the bowling shirt! I just love how easy it is to make. You can also be very creative with it. The finished shirt is very polished looking! I wish it came big enough to make one for DH!

It IS a small world! I actually have a cousin that lives in Bryan, and my DH's best friend used to live in Bryan, and my best friend used to live there as well!

LOL! Sometimes I feel like I never meet a stranger. As big as Texas is, in a group of people you can hardly say the name of a town that someone doesn't have family or friends from.

Ooh!! So many patterns, so little time!!!! My husband is going to kill me. I usually catch the Simplicity patterns when they are on sale for 99c. So, trying to explain to my hubby why these $10 patterns are so much better will be work. I think once he realizes that I can reprint and use LOTS of sizes he will give in.

*ETA* I just realized I am now a Mouseketeer!!! Yay me!!

I'm in the mid-cities (DFW area) but I was BORN in Bryan. My dad was an Aggie:sad2: He's more proud of his beloved alma matter than anything else in the world. (That might have some bearing on me being a Longhorns fan)

I'll jump on the Texas band wagon. My mom was born in Bryan, TX and my dad lives in Lufkin. He has lived in Texas since I was 5 and I am now 31. And my grandma's sister lives in Arlington.

You all wouldnt be aggies too would you I live in between both of you.
I would suggest all of the carla c patterns too.

That quilt is fantastic!!! I can't believe you made it so fast, too!!

Help needed!
I'm looking for a Timothy mouse applique, or embroidery (for my embroidery machine) for Tessa and Sawyer's Dumbo outfits. The only one I've seen is from Divas*Doodles on ebay, but they're so expensive and her designs don't seem to stitch out right on my machine. Has anyone seen one anywhere else? I'd also be happy to hear about any other Dumbo-themed appliques or embroideries, like the birds and such.

have you checked with stich on time she is out of the uk and she has alot of applique she is a wonder person and her work stiches out great

More proof that Texas is smaller than its square footage!! :rotfl2:

Here goes, I am sure more will chime in with these city names:

My FIL is an Aggie, Corp Commander when he was here. Back before they even let girls in :) My husband went to fire school here and applied for Bryan on his graduation day. He was hired, so we moved here from San Angelo (where his family lives now). However, he is actually from Greenville and I am from Princeton. (North East Texas) We met in Commerce at college.

I work for the A&M system part-time and we are big Aggie fans. It's hard not to be when you live here. There is such a HUGE spirit and support for the team. It is a sea of maroon.

I forgot to add that I have acquired an embroidery machine. It is a little bit older and not the best model, but I am excited to try it out. I of course know NOTHING about them. Then again, this time last year was the first time I had ever used my sewing machine :)

So, any good places to start learning about embroidery machines?

In between doing report cards, lesson plans, and a weekly report to parents on each of my kiddos--I made a skirt and blouse for Giuliana to wear for the Hoe Down our school will have on Feb. 13th (I know, what were they thinking....an event on Friday the 13th!;) )

Anyway, I used 11 different Giddy-up kids prints that a friend of mine had used to make a quilt for her grandson. (She actually used 15 different materials, but I thought that was just a little too much :lmao: )

Here it is:

I did something different and attached a petti to it where the first row of squares join the waist band. For square dancing, you want lots of fluff!

I wish she had had fewer materials and more of each one....but she sold me the squares for $5.00 (and it was worth that to not have to cut it out!...plus she had almost a 1/2 yard of the stripe that I used for the waist, ruffle and applique that she "just threw in."
So great! I'm sure Giuliana will have a blast in that!

I'm truly amazed by what has been made and wondered if the feliz and vida are real difficult for a relatively novice sewer? I've only really made one dress and that was over a year ago! Time for me to really put that brother machine to use. I still haven't embroidered yet with it. And where do you get your patterns from?
I haven't made the feliz but did make a Vida so here's my take on it. There are virtually no instructions on the Vida-you should be able to find them online even before you buy the pattern if you do a search. I am really glad that I had made Carla's A-line before I made the Vida. Carla's instructions are so wonderful.

Guess What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Temp since 7pm tonight!:cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:
I think he is finally over it, now I'm praying no one else gets it!
What wonderful news!

Ok totally not clothing but I made some progress this weekend. I wanted to make a baby quilt for a couple at our church having their first. They are really young and have only been married for a year or so so they're still just starting out. I think they're 22 or so...anyway, I got to start it Friday, got it finished yesterday:

I'm gonna have to make some of those skirts for my DD. She hates wearing pants. Maybe once I clear out a couple of projects in my sewing room my DH won't cringe if he sees me start something new.
Beautiful!!! Love your fabric choices.

I found this great mickey fabric....and of course I can't save the picture so I am posting the site.

It's description is Aloha-mouse cotton knit fabric...I am considering buying some.

Check it out!
That is so cool! Love the Aloha Mickey! They also had a cool Pirate Mickey fabric in knit and a Bambi fabric in the quilting section.

Hi Friends,

No time to read as we are heading up to the mountain. It is my first time on a new board that I got last year on a Pro form. I also got new bindings for Christmas.

I have only been riding once this year and spent 9/10 of the day teaching DS BFF how to snowboard. I am pretty scared!

We went to the city and I spent $36 at Joann's and $46 at Wal-mart:crazy2: But I have some great fabrics for big gives.

Have a great day I will catch up with everyone tomorrow.
Stay safe and have fun!

Carla's patterns are why more than just a pattern-they have definitely made me a better sewer. The commercial patterns make me want to quit sewing.

Nope! They shut it down and cleared it out in 07' Bummer!! We have Walmart, Joann and Hobby Lobby. I think there is another place closer to the University, but I haven't ventured there. I really should head to Houston.

We're not Aggies in this house. (sorry, Shannalee!) My DH and DS are Longhorn fans, with Tech being their second choice. The reason for this is that my parents live in Lubbock, so they feel a certain obligation to be Tech fans. :rotfl2:

I've been in Texas all of my life, except for the few years that I went away for college. I was born in Beaumont (actually Nederland, but lived in Beaumont). I've lived in Fort Worth, Paris, Garland, Port Arthur, Sherman, San Antonio, Garland again, Denton, San Antonio again, Odessa and now in Longview.

Wow!! that is a lot of moving. That's kind of like me except for Louisiana. I have lived in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Arkansas, Baton Rouge, Nevada, Baton Rouge, Slidell, Tioga, Alexandria, Bossier, Lecompte, Shreveport, Arkansas, Lecompte and I now live in Alexandria.

Today the puppies turned 3 weeks old and I got to give them their first solid food. It was so cute. The tiny little girls were the big pigs. They all ended up with food all over them. Next time I think I am going to have to take them away from Roxy to feed them. Even though she has a bowl full of food she kept trying to eat the puppy food. Which is the same thing just ground up and watered down.

I can't agree more about CarlaC's patterns. I use them all the time!
I don't think I have picked up a commercial pattern in a couple of years now, except for the Farbenmix ones.
Speaking of Carla's patterns. I just finished this Simply Sweet dress for our trip. Four down, a couple of more to go!
I also used the quilting block tutorial on YCMT's blog to add the hem detail.

No model today, she is too busy playing with her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stuff to give me any free time!:rotfl:
