Your Feliz turned out so pretty! I love the colors and the ribbons over ther ruffles!

Your parent's house look beautiful! What a view! I'm glad you had a nice visit with them.

You need to give us some more information on those books! What's your cousin's name?

I think this is one of the more recent ones. i am going to look for some more. I adore johnny ! he is such a sweet man! He is getting old and i treasure every second I can spend with him. The niece and nephew I always talk about sewing for are his grandkids. My dad and him where very close and they used to go hunting a lot together. I am very partial to a lot of these because I love him but also because I recognize a few of the cartoons! I have to go find the link with a bunch of them online!

Ok found them!

the one where ben is driving in circles with the boat is actually of me. When I was a kid and my dad would let me drive our boat that is all I would do! I loved going in circles! And you may guess what one of my fav rides is!?!?!?!

As you guys know, Becca, one of our Wish children is in the hospital in critical condition following brain surgery. Mandy ( llurgy )PMed me this morning with the addess of the hospital and the Ronald McDonald house they are staying in. If anyone would like to send a card, or pixie dust, please PM me and I'll give you the addresss. Maroo also has it, incase my inbox is full.

Maroo was thinknig that it would be really nice if we could send giftcards for the family for food. She says that there is a McDonald's, Wendy's, Subway & Kroger's nearby. They are staying at the Ronald McDonald house, but they do have to buy their own food and that could get pretty expensive.

Of course, just a card or a note would do a lot to brighten their day.

I bought Carla's pattern to make a hoodie for Drew. I want to line the hood to make it more comfortable for him.

I have fleece to make it out of. Would lining the hood with fleece be too much? Do you think something else would work better?

Thanks

I've done it with fleece too. DS loves it, really soft on the inside.

I imagine they are going to be inundated with good wishes pixie dust from the dis family! :lovestruc

:grouphug: Hey GUys,

I really need help with fabric choices....

Here are the fabrics I have - the Michael Miller Dot one I only have a 1/4 yard or so, everything else I have plenty of - I want to make the whole back flannel (choices on the far right)...I know I want a lot of the pink/green, green/pink dots (maybe the small squares) but then for the big squares what should I do? Paisley? paisley and a few michel miller? Or, what about the big dot (that is the fabric that isnt cotton, but does fray - its like a drapery type material I got stuck with cause I got it on ebay(thinking it was cotton).....

Choices??/

Im going to start cutting the middle of the sandwich - then i'll check in with my buddies!!!

I LOVE all those fabrics!!! Where did you get them??

Like too many of my ideas, that one stayed as just an idea. LOL I definitely want to give it a try this year but ran out of time for 2008. We had a crazy December with record snowfall of about 18" total. I know that isn't a big deal for many some areas of the country but I think our previous record for snow on the ground on Christmas day was a trace of snow. Worst yet, I couldn't even get to the local fabric shops or post office and we went without mail delivery for a week or so. That threw my business schedule off and I feel like I'm finally getting back on track.

My oldest DD lives near Portland and they had a week of snow days before Christmas break. She was happy to go back to school!

Great first Big give outfit. I love it!

Hey, Heather just called me from the Dismeet!!! She passed me on to Jessica, Kristine, and Jeanne, then Tessa got hold of the phone and that was the end of my Disboutiquers talking! :sad2: Apparently, Luke gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she needed to let me know though! :lovestruc It sounds like they are all having a lot of fun!!! I wish I was there!!! Everyone sounded SOOO nice and sweet!!!!

We just got back from the Dismeet!

Teresa-I got some VERY cute pics of Sawyer, and I got to sit next to your Mom at dinner :cool1:.

We got to meet some really nice people and the kids had a great time playing together. Morgan had a blast playing with Dallas and Leighanna and Mr. T!

The time went so fast! I got to speak to Piper for such a short time before I got called away. Jayden was very sweet and Little was just adorable! Sawyer was REALLY have fun with a cupcake LOL.

I missed a picture of Cathy and Heather smootching Jord:guilty: But did get a pic of them giving Jord rabbit ears:scared1:

Group shot-

Looks and sounds like everyone is having a great time!!!

Hi Guys,

Glad you had fun - cant wait to hear more details!!

Here is a picture of my cousins little one wearing the simply sweet I made for her!! Everyone oohed and aahhed over her at church this morning - she looked so cute!!
emily.jpg

She is so cute and so is the dress! How old is she and which size did you use?

I'M COMING IN MAY! I WANNA MEET SOME DISBOUTIQUERS!

Actually, my dates are April 27 - May 2

Woo Hoo another dismeet coming up! Anyone coming to Disneyland??

Grrrrr I can't sleep! What is wrong with me. Its friggin 5 in the morning! I have yet to go to bed. I have tried everything. I read, watched a movie, I facebooked, I played wii...I have Dis'd plenty.

I can't sew it will wake up the kiddo who is sleeping in my bed near the machine.. Oy tomorrow is gonna be (oh I should say today) a draggin butt day I can see it now. And Georgia wanted to go to the mall to Build a bear or see a movie! ooh Movie..I can sleep. OH wait my snoring might not work there. Crap!

I hate when I can't go to sleep either! Sewing isn't always good in the middle of the night, that is when I have issues with whatever I am making :rolleyes1

Tried my first Simply Sweet. First time doing ruffles too. (I only have boys) Anyway, i think it turned out pretty cute. There are some mistakes, but my family can't find them, so I think I am safe. :thumbsup2

That turned out too cute!

Get ready for too many journal pics

So I decided to make a journal for the Macintosh Big Give. I did not realize how time consuming this would be! Thank goodness they live only 2hrs from me so when I ship it they will get it the next day. I still hve several pages to do nd get in the book.

That is a great idea! I like it!

I have already PMed Maroo, but I wanted to share a great idea that she shared with me. She mentioned that they are close to McDonald's, Wendy's, Subway & Kroger's. Realizing that one real hardship on a family when a family member is in the hospital is the added expense of meals that must all be eaten out. I thought it was a great idea that Maroo had to purchase gift cards for one of those places to help alleviate the added expense. I'm planning to do so and send it in a card and probably some scripture cards for mom and dad. Just thought I'd through that out there!

Yes, Mary and I were talking about that. I think it's a great idea! I'll edit my post to mention that.

Here is my first attempt at the roundneck top/dress pattern from ycmt. It went together pretty easily. Going to start her valentines one now.

Here are the pictures from the "Wax Museum" at Arminda's school today. All of the 5th graders were suppose to be famous African American's. Arminda was Serena Williams.

S6300016.JPG

Here she is next to Jesse Jackson

S6300017.JPG

There is Rosa Parks too! Harriet Tubman is way down there in the black.

S6300019.JPG

Then, I went to Lydia's class to see if they were going. Lydia's teacher told me they wer going down to see Arminda right after their snack. So, I stuck around and waited with them while they ate. Lydia was actually very happy to see me!!! Really! It seems like every time I go to take her picture in public, she ends up making this face when seconds before she had a huge grin on her face!

S6300020.JPG

S6300026.JPG

Arminda was excited to see Lydia coming and Lydia was really excited to see Arminda! Really, you are going to have to trust me on this, Lydia was excited!!
S6300027.JPG

I made the skirt for her, Carla's Perfectly Prepy founcy skirt, or course! And the shirt I made with Carla's raglan top pattern at the beginning of the school year.

Arminda was not happy that she was wearing "dorky socks" and was sure that several people had looked down at her feet at them. (She whispered this to me while I was standing near her!)

So what are cool socks for tweens these days?

I love the flounce. :) It is my fav pattern for skirts. I might just make one tonight. :)

Here is my latest accomplishment. I free-handed it them and just made a few strips and pieces and put them together to make skirts. Last night I made matching tops. I modified them a little with some ties on each side. I figured we were going in May so it would be pretty hot out. I just have to shorten my 5 year olds straps a little and tighten up the sides a bit. I thought I would wait though in case she grows a bit between now and then.

My D5, she scraped her chin playing out in the snow earlier:

100_0566.jpg

My D8, who never wears skirts but she said she would at Disney!:
100_0568.jpg

I did it!! My first matching pair:....Now, what to do for my son?.....

100_0573.jpg

Why isn't Tom wearing a bandana and cowboy hat??? ;)

Because he is :snooty:!

She is so pretty and I love that color on her! Great job picking out a beautiful dress! I love your husband's mickey tie too!

That looks awfully good for your FIRST applique! I believe my first was thrown in the trash! Very cute dress.

Aw, Georgia looks so pretty and grown up. She looks so tall!

Oh, I am in love with this entire outfit. All the little details you put on it are great, but that bag! :lovestruc Just love it, so I know she will too!

She looks so cute in her western wear. I missed the 'before' version of the dress (plus 100s of other photos and pages of posts LOL) but I think the overskirt length looks perfect.

Thanks! It was three inches longer, lol. And looked weirdly like too much black and not enough bandana, but I really like it now.

This cracks me up. I wish I would have thought of it: so cute!

And you were worried about giving it to her: she looks soooo adorable in it! I have to admit, she would adorable in a sack, but you still did a great job on the dress.

Love those fabrics, they look like candy. Great job on your first dress!

Tracie, this is awesome and something that will be cherished long after the trip is over. You really did something great.

Love the pictures from your parents and your first Feliz. When are we going to see it modeled?

I love that pattern and have made it several times. It really looks perfect on a little one, though. Cute!

Very cool! I will have to show Jacob. Love the assurances that Lydia and Arminda were excited to see you and each other. Sure they were! :lmao:

Well, we are home and Megan just got out of the bath and wants to see pictures of Dallas. I think she is :lovestruc

I have NO idea what cool socks are, apparently!!! :rotfl2: They wer nice and white socks though, they look a bit dingy in the pictures because of the lighting. I had planned on her wearing some zebra striped socks, but when I went to get them out of her drawer, there was only one in there! I REMEMBER matching those socks up, how can one just be gone????

I can't wait to see your skirt!! I need to make one for Lydia. I've had material for it forever and just haven't gotten around to doing it yet! Well, I did make her another flouncy skirt, just not the one I keep promising her! (did that make ANY sense at all???)

Arminda looked adorable, socks and all. What a really neat idea to help the kids learn. :thumbsup2

That is so pretty! I love that color!
Thank you! I wasnt sure if i would be able to handle the roundneck pattern but it ended up being pretty easy. DD loves the dress, i cant get it off of her. Anything that has princesses is always a favorite!

and dont they look pleased as punch!

funny I almost bught that fabric on sunday- but the bolt was dirty- like water stained, so I decided to pass.

A great big thank you to everyone who commented on my Feliz!! I thought it was really easy til I got to the end! Then I realized how challenging it is! I wish I had finished my seams differently. There are a lot of steps to that pattern. I LOVE that you can coordinate so many fabrics into it.

Thanks to all who commented on my folk's house- I do love it there! Although right now it can be stressful. My Dad sort of shuts down quite a bit these days and then he'll be chatty to Megan, he clearly enjoyed her, and seemed sad he couldnt pick her up. It was hard to seem him like that.

I am having headaches and feeling lightheaded at times and the doc had me come in immediately today to check my BP- which was high- but only for me (120/70) but Im normally like 100-108 over 60 or something really low, so they took blood to check iron levels.
why is my life a soap opera lately? Really, it just doesnt seem that exciting around me.
Im off to take my my casserole out of the oven. YUM!!!

WoW - they look awesome!!! Great job~~

Arminda - looks like you did an awesome job!! I hope you got an A!!!!

Sue - Emily is 9 mos, and I used size 1 for her...I was so worried it'd be big, but it looks like it fit her great!! I got the pink/green fabrics at walmart - except for the white background ones- one is Michael Miller disco dot - but I only had a tiny bit and my friend convinced me not to use it - and then the larger pink/green dot - which I got on EBAY which I have a TON left over and would love to trade if ya want some!!!

Well, I sewed and snipped and have the pink'/green quilt in the washer right now!! Keeping my fingers crossed it will come out beautiful!!

has anyone ever done the heart rag quilt? I googled rag quilt and saw a picture of it - now I want to try - Im just not sure how to do the triangular pieces - what size would they be???? anyone know????

...was really bad!!!:scared1: :scared1: I've been able to sew with the most terribles headaches but somehow with this tooth ache sewing was really bad as the pain is something that I cannot handle anymore I had to modify what I was going to do and go with iron on's and store bought shirts :sad2: :sad1: :sad1: the pain and agony!!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: the sad part is that this is from a tooth that already had a rootcanal, I was given stronger antibiotics today, let's hope they work

I finished my give (Noah's) and I mailed today...
stroller blanket !!!!(with zipper) sorry I ment so say stroller blanket not bag!!!!!!
