This is adorable! I am still not brave enough to try this one.
Here is the quilt I am making for my BFF's bday - its in the wash again to help it fray - what cycles do you use to get it to fray the best?

the front is the dots, and the back is flannel stripes and solids.....
Well, I mentioned a few days ago that my local Walmart is closing their fabric department, well on Saturday I got about 40 yards of fabric for 58.00, well I couldn't resist and went again today during my lunch break. I got another 55.00 worth of fabric, more tink, mickey, winnie the pooh, some pink floral, plain red, plain green, black with white polka dots, a cute pastel stripe and a black and white floral and 10 yards of white muslin and 5 yards of interfacing. I feel so bad but I can't resist the prices. I also bought two bundle packs today from Carla C. I printed off three of them at work and can't wait to get started. I think I will go with the A-Line next, it looks to be pretty easy and I am just a beginner. Well I have plenty of fabric for the next few years, so no excuses !!![]()
I just started cutting out my first feliz. I've been wanting to make this pattern for a very long time, and I'm just now getting around to it. It takes a LOT of fabric. I had a lot of yardage, and I still have to go back to the store tomorrow to pick up another yard to finish cutting out the over dress. I hope I love it as much as I've loved everyone else's that have been posted.
That sounds like it will work. I have thought about doing that for some of Jenna's Summer dresses. That way the straps will stay on her shoulders. I was going to cross the straps in the back.Big question for you Simply Sweet dress makers... I'm thinking of modifying the straps on the halter style dress. I like the fitted look of the halter but DD2 will not go for the strap around her neck. Plus, I want her to be able to wear a shirt under it if need be (our cruise is in November) and think that might look wierd with the traditional halter style. Here is what I want to do:
One inch wide straps would start in front and wrap over shoulders and meet in middle of the back of the halter. I'm thinking of attaching it in the back with buttons so it can grow with her. This would mean no elastic in straps. What do you guys think? Do you think the straps will stay on her shoulders? Should I crisscross the straps? Please help if you can! Thanks!
I'm going to Disneyland!
My husband came home this evening and told me, with a little Cheshire Cat grin, that he has to go to Long Beach for a conference at the CSU Chancellor's Office next month. He requested permission to take me.
We'll stay (all expenses on the state of California, thank you very much) in Long Beach for 3 nights, and since we'll be so close we'll spend the final day at the Land before driving home. Just the two of us!
The good news is that I don't have to sew like crazy for the next month. The bad news is I have to find someone to watch my daughter.
hmmmm, whatever shall I do, poohnpigletCA?

Here is my first attempt at the roundneck top/dress pattern from ycmt. It went together pretty easily. Going to start her valentines one now.
I think that is a great idea to teach the kids. I was going to say I spy a flouncy skirt and a raglan top! i am thinking about cutting fabric for the ruffled skirt but I'm askeered to do it.Here are the pictures from the "Wax Museum" at Arminda's school today. All of the 5th graders were suppose to be famous African American's. Arminda was Serena Williams.

Here she is next to Jesse Jackson

There is Rosa Parks too! Harriet Tubman is way down there in the black.

Then, I went to Lydia's class to see if they were going. Lydia's teacher told me they wer going down to see Arminda right after their snack. So, I stuck around and waited with them while they ate. Lydia was actually very happy to see me!!! Really! It seems like every time I go to take her picture in public, she ends up making this face when seconds before she had a huge grin on her face!

Arminda was excited to see Lydia coming and Lydia was really excited to see Arminda! Really, you are going to have to trust me on this, Lydia was excited!!

I made the skirt for her, Carla's Perfectly Prepy founcy skirt, or course! And the shirt I made with Carla's raglan top pattern at the beginning of the school year.
Arminda was not happy that she was wearing "dorky socks" and was sure that several people had looked down at her feet at them. (She whispered this to me while I was standing near her!)
Adorable! I love patchworks! Here is my latest accomplishment. I free-handed it them and just made a few strips and pieces and put them together to make skirts. Last night I made matching tops. I modified them a little with some ties on each side. I figured we were going in May so it would be pretty hot out. I just have to shorten my 5 year olds straps a little and tighten up the sides a bit. I thought I would wait though in case she grows a bit between now and then.
My D5, she scraped her chin playing out in the snow earlier:
I did it!! My first matching pair:....Now, what to do for my son?.....

TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF AND THAT LITTLE ONE YOU ARE CARRYING MISSY!and dont they look pleased as punch!
funny I almost bught that fabric on sunday- but the bolt was dirty- like water stained, so I decided to pass.
A great big thank you to everyone who commented on my Feliz!! I thought it was really easy til I got to the end! Then I realized how challenging it is! I wish I had finished my seams differently. There are a lot of steps to that pattern. I LOVE that you can coordinate so many fabrics into it.
Thanks to all who commented on my folk's house- I do love it there! Although right now it can be stressful. My Dad sort of shuts down quite a bit these days and then he'll be chatty to Megan, he clearly enjoyed her, and seemed sad he couldnt pick her up. It was hard to seem him like that.
I am having headaches and feeling lightheaded at times and the doc had me come in immediately today to check my BP- which was high- but only for me (120/70) but Im normally like 100-108 over 60 or something really low, so they took blood to check iron levels.
why is my life a soap opera lately? Really, it just doesnt seem that exciting around me.
Im off to take my my casserole out of the oven. YUM!!!
I would love to see it when it is done! I LOVE hearts my engagement ring is even a heart!WoW - they look awesome!!! Great job~~
Arminda - looks like you did an awesome job!! I hope you got an A!!!!![]()
Sue - Emily is 9 mos, and I used size 1 for her...I was so worried it'd be big, but it looks like it fit her great!! I got the pink/green fabrics at walmart - except for the white background ones- one is Michael Miller disco dot - but I only had a tiny bit and my friend convinced me not to use it - and then the larger pink/green dot - which I got on EBAY which I have a TON left over and would love to trade if ya want some!!!
Well, I sewed and snipped and have the pink'/green quilt in the washer right now!! Keeping my fingers crossed it will come out beautiful!!
has anyone ever done the heart rag quilt? I googled rag quilt and saw a picture of it - now I want to try - Im just not sure how to do the triangular pieces - what size would they be???? anyone know????
Beautiful! Now I want to make myself a rag quilt in those colors but I already have a bunch of pink material for Nikki's quilt so maybe I have to add some green for hers! Here is the quilt I am making for my BFF's bday - its in the wash again to help it fray - what cycles do you use to get it to fray the best?

VERY CUTE!Turned out great! Like the pink and green. Really cute.
You may remember the half yard of hearts and ladybug fabric I got from the remnants section at Joann a week ago... I decided to go for a skirt and kind-of used the 5-minute skirt tut from Angry Chicken.... but I spent so, much more time than 5 minutes![]()
Anyway... this is what I ended up with!
![]()
I am happy with it. I used a soft stretchy knit folded over (don't remember what its called, used for t-shirt collars, and sleeve cuffs?) for the waist band as DD2 has the cute little baby belly and struggles with skirts, I wanted this to be super comfy for her. I added the ruffle, but its not that full of a ruffle since I was working with only a half yard.
She has a simple pink shirt to go over it, for preschool on Wednesday, when they are doing Valentines day, and I am planning on her wearing it to a church breakfast on Saturday also.
Tonight she had no patience for trying it on... it was a game - put it on, pull it off, repeat. So, I have no model. Maybe on Wednesday she will cooperate.
In case you don't hear it enough... THANK YOU for your bookmark list Teresa![]()

That happened to me twice. I need two yards to do the 5/6 underdress. It is my least favorite thing to make but I love the way it turns out.
Don't you hate when that happens? It's a big change from the Vida pattern. I almost hate using a pretty fabric for the under dress because so little of it shows.
I'm sure you'll love the finished dress and that it will be beautiful. The process of making it isn't that bad but the first time seems to be the hardest - or at least it was for me. I've only made a couple after that first one but they went together fairly easily since I'd figured out the assembly.

1.) I didn't realize that either! Is Nikki 8? Arminda will be 11 in May. Arminda is very very tiny. She is only 3 inches taller than Lydia, who just turned 6! We figure by next year they will be about the same size! You wouldn't believe how many medical tests they did on Arminda when she was a baby to find out why she was so tiny! She didn't hit 20 pounds until she was 2. After all the thousands of dollars in testing and specialists, they came to the brilliant conclusion that "she's just small" !! (obviously, that still bugs me 10 years later!)1.)I didn't realize Arminda was 2 yrs older than Nikki I thought they where the same age for some reason![]()
Liddy is adorable even if she wont smile for pictures!
2.) OK I am shocked at my daughter! I told her I am taking her DVC membership away and her AP pass! She actually said to me this morning she doesn't like MARY POPPINS!!!!! Where have i failed her![]()

Hello Everyone! I am back from Disney to reality in NJ and home with a sick childShe'll be alright....but I gotta take her to the doctor for meds.
So, the quick trip to Disney was a success and I really had a wonderful time meeting everyone and my friend and I enjoyed touring the parks. I have to say that I am officially affected by motion sickness and will have to try some non-drowsy dramamine next time. Between the planes, trains, buses and attractions......my head was spinningSo, I missed a few attractions but I just really enjoyed being at the parks and the weather was just gorgeous!!!!
I will make a mini report and let you know when I post it. I just want to check that it is ok with everyone if I post pics of the dis kids!
So....is it ok???
I briefly looked back at the last few pages of the thread. I saw some cute things and cute kiddos!Great job!!!
Teresa - Lydia and Arminda look so great as wax figures....they are almost as real looking as Capt Jack!![]()
