I hope it's in that other room...but I don't get how that woman would take it!! Wonder if she's a dis-er. Probably not...a fellow dis-er wouldn't take the wrong box. At least I don't think so...

Well, I know the lady's name. I don't care to release it, but dfluvs also has it. I talked to her again, and when I texted her the ID tag, she showed the guy the tag. He said that the other lady definitely had the fridge, but that she wasn't in her room and they didn't want to go in and take it without the lady there. So, instead, they took the lady's fridge to dfluvs, who doesn't want to use it, as it's not hers. I made sure that she knows everything that I left. She will be going down to check in person again (has already checked around 8 her time when I talked to her in person) in the morning if she hasn't heard anything. Apparently this other person is part of another swap.

I did have two copies of a white page on the box. Our person's name was in large red letters, name underlined on the box (and shows in the pictures that I texted our person) and our person's dates of stay, both of her ressie #s and her cell phone. I don't really see how this confusion could have been mistaken in the fridge. Perhaps I should have put the name of the fridge swap on there, but honestly, w/ date and name of the person plastered all over the top of the box, I'm not sure that will help.

I have the pics and will upload when I get to the office tomorrow. Any info on how to load the pic directly onto my post?

I will keep you guys updated. I'm hoping our girl will be able to have a better trip. Apparently her day hasn't gone well, ending w/ the fridge. I told her once she gets the fridge, hopefully she'll get some of my fun stuff rubbing off on her. We had a blast, and really enjoyed ourselves. You would think someone from another swap would realize they had the wrong fridge - how can you realize it's not your name on the box.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to write the name of our swap on the box too. Of course if you don't know your own name, are you going to know the name of your swap??

Hopefully all will end well and we have all learned a lesson about not trusting luggage services to give us the right refridge (not blaming them - mistakes happen and we need to be responsible too).

Thanks for the update, Bambi! I feel a bit better now knowing they are willing to get the fridge back from the woman. Can't imagine how it all happened in the first place, but it looks like it will end well.

If for any reason, it doesn't, please PM me the woman's name...and I'll PM other swap leaders & see if she's part of a dis swap. If ahe is, I'm sure they'll make it right by having her switch the fridges back.

I'm so sorry poor Dawn has to deal with this. I'm sure today will be a MUCH better day for her! She's in WDW, how could it not be!

And thank YOU for having the foresight to take all those pics of the fridge stuff, and for helping Dawn with it now, and for sticking with us through our first debacle!

Now, we ALL need to remember to clearly ID the box w/ the information of the next swapper, including check in date & reservation #. And, if possible, take pics of it just in case.

Well, here goes trying... I'm going to try to add both pics to this post. If you zoom in on the pic that shows the top, you can seee that dfluvs's name is in red and both her ressie's are in black and her cell in black and the dates in black. Very large letters, and easily read. I'm sure there was just some confusion. I'm just glad that this can be easily taken care of. I'm thinking positively on this and that the whole thing will be dealt with by this evening. If I haven't heard from her by 8 her time, I will call her and double check. Bless her heart, she's got all the kids and extended family, and I think they are in at least 2 rooms, so there's plenty and enough going on with her on her stay.

We ended up going with the 2 half gallons of milk on the side and other food on the shelves. If we left the higher temp setting on, we noticed that the top shelf would semi freeze water that was near it. Not bad, except when you went to drink, it had to thaw to get through the bottle opening. Gave some funny moments for us. We enjoyed it thoroughly!

Great pics! There is no way you can NOT see the name on the box! Oh, well.

I'm optimistic as well. Seems like they know where it is, they just need to get their butts in there and get it. I don't see why they need the lady to be there...just leave a note & the correct fridge.

I feel so bad you guys are dealing with this. At least Dawn gets to deal w/ it in WDW. LOL

We definitely need our swap name permanently affixed to the sides of the boxes. And maybe some decorations to make it stand out a little more.

WE GOT THE FRIDGE BACK!

I worked late today - first day back after vacay and holiday weekend. *sigh* One of my friends that was on the trip was reluctant to rejoin reality today as well. Anyway, I didn't get home until 7:30 my time, 8:30 WDW time. So, I was home long enough to pop a dinner into the microwave - single and watching my weight .. again.. so not the most yummy dinners. But, while that was cooking, I got a text. And I quote

"Will explain details later but I JUST got the fridge"

Not sure what happened, but over 24 hours later, she got it. Hoping she got everything left in it as well. Yay good thoughts on her getting the fridge. I was aiming for this morning, but glad she got it. I asked her to let me know what happened at some point, but now I think she really just needs to ENJOY HER TIME THERE!

So, fridge back and found!

I am SO glad she can now enjoy her trip with one less thing to worry about! I really hope that woman was super embarrassed!! LOL And I hope she left all that stuff in there too!

Can't wait to hear the details. I can now stop checking this thread every two minutes. I'm not even kidding. LOL I keep coming over to my computer & checking for the post that says all is well. Now I can go watch the dumb movie my DH got out of the wanna-be Redbox at our supermarket.

Well, let me know, Bambi, & I'll be happy to pop that worm can right open...IF she's part of a dis swap. (I'm assuming that's the can you're talking about?) It would be really rotten if she took stuff from our swap knowing it wasn't hers to take. I'm giving this person the benefit of the doubt though...trying to believe it was just a big misunderstanding. (I know, though, that in some cases, if they can't find a fridge, they meaning luggage svcs, will let you go back & look yourself...I have a feeling she chose our fridge when she couldn't find the right one...but I really hope that's not the case...I'm sure luggage services is so darn busy & fed up w/ fridges that they wouldn't check much if someone said, "Here it is!" )

I can't wait to hear the details about what poor Dawn went thru...please let us know what she says.

I wouldn't worry Tink...I'm sure this situation won't happen again. From the few details I have, there was more going on there that meets the eye.

But, they do "lose" fridges. In many of those situations, if you're pushy enough & let them let YOU look through storage, the fridge is found. We now have a pic of the box, at least, and you'll put the Under-POP-ulated Swap Signs on it, so it should make it easier to ID in the future...hopefully avoiding anything like this again.

That said, (to everyone leaving/checking in on the same dates) yes, if a face-to-face swap is a possibility, please, please make the effort to do it. If not, label the hell out of the box....put a label w/ the swappers info on top & on at least one of the sides. And please make sure the info includes the swappers NAME, Check-In Date, Res #, and possibly contact info. They are less likely, I think, to dispose of the fridge if they know it's going to be picked up soon & not sit there forever.

Thanks to all our swappers so far for their efforts!! Sometimes it's not easy to keep it all going. Here's to smoother sailing in the future!

I keep hoping someone will pop up with dates for the week after me, but so far it's empty...

I check-in the day before the person before me leaves so I don't think we'll have any issues arranging a face-to-face. I prefer to do it that way, as well. Leave guest services out of it as much as possible!!

Our flight doesn't get in until late afternoon, so I doubt I will be able to do a face to face picking up, but I think we will be doing it when I drop it off because the next person also comes in the night before..

Yeah, it makes it nice. I'm sure with the night of overlap, we'll find SOME time or another that will be convenient. We'll be at the hotel more than normal, too, since we'll have our not-quite-5-month-old.

Anytime it's possible to face-to-face, let's try. It's not something to go crazy about, but at least when you know you're picking it up directly from someone, you know it's there and you won't have to fight luggage services about it or go searching their storage. That's worth it to me!
