Welcome to the drama, OandA. All is well!! Our fridge is fine...let's hope it makes it through the longest stretch in luggage services it's gonna have for a while...Our fridge will be checked in today...and out on the 6th.

Anytime it's possible to face-to-face, let's try. It's not something to go crazy about, but at least when you know you're picking it up directly from someone, you know it's there and you won't have to fight luggage services about it or go searching their storage. That's worth it to me!

Hi everyone. Just got home a little while ago. The outcome of the whole situation is that someone took the fridge from luggage and they had no right to do so. When I finally got it back on Wed night (I arrived on Monday), it was clearly marked for me. There was no way they could have missed it!!! There were 2 big signs on the top. Why would someone take something that clearly wasn't for them. My cell # and res # were also on there. Did they not think that I would want it???? I just don't get it. Bambilover left some items in the fridge for me and the only thing that I did not get was an arcade card. Everything else was there. Now, for the next person (tinkerbell211) I put 2 signs on top and one on the side with all her information. I have already pm'd her and told her to call me if there are any problems. It made it into luggage services last night (my dh watched it make it through the door)!!!!!!!!!

From all of, Dawn, THANK YOU for not giving up on our fridge!!

I might have opened a can of worms, but I PM'd both the leader of the swap & the person who had our fridge. Things like this can happen, I suppose, but stealing from the box was unacceptable. Had everything been there, I would've left it alone. I know there's nothing we can do at this point, but I basically just wanted the woman to know that people knew what she did, and that she should feel bad about it. I pm'd the head of her swap because it made me feel better to do so. Dawn, I hope it makes you feel a little better also.

OK. Hmm.. I'm glad the dust has settled on the fridge. I hate that it got "lost" on my watch. I'm happy to hear that this was some kind of misunderstanding. I can't quite fathom it, but... I'm very happy things are fine. My feathers are quite ruffled over that arcade card, as I specifically wanted it there for dfluvsmick.... but, ok. Fine. I'll be good to go on this in a day or so.

Here's lots of that the fridge will be JUST FINE until the next swapper gets there!

I'm in another swap (getting another fridge for my brother's family) and I see that they have a plastic page protector taped to their box to slip the next users information into. I think this is a great idea - maybe one on the side and one on top? What do you guys think?

Also, one of their refrigerators was "lost" and now was seen in use (in the storage area) by another swap. This isn't rocket science - why can't people take the box with their name on it??

You mean there are other idiots out there who don't know their own names?? LOL Glad to hear it. I think it's laziness. They get the wrong one, or they don't want to wait for the right one & instead of making a stink they just go.

The protectors could work. It would save tons of tape & wear & tear on the box from removing the previous label. If anyone wants to take that on, it's ok by me.

I am leaving tomorrow and already have my swap sheet in a plastic protector. I will tape it to the box when I get it. I have 2 face-to-face swaps, so hopefully nothing can go wrong?.?. Avonlady thanks for all your hard work in getting this swap together. I know we all greatly appreciate it. I will let you know how it went when I get back.

What a great idea! If I had even thought about it, I would have put it on the box! Since we drove, I had several to keep maps, coupons, etc., in. You wouldn't know it in my daily life, but I can be very organized!

Hopefully this fridge will stay with this swap. Should there be consideration that not just the box be decorated, but also perhaps the fridge? In case the box gets "lost" or something?

I think decorating the fridge itself is a great idea. Maybe we could get sticker letters and write "Underpopulated Swap" so there would be no confusion!

It would help if each user would post a picture of the box as they leave it - if they have added anything to it.

Ok guys...

My trips are changing...

I have already paid in...and that is totally ok...but I am wondering if it would be ok to use the backup for my dates?

I am on there Sept 5 - 13th...

I will actually be at the POP part of that time...but not the whole time and my stay is going to be a lot shorter and with free dining, I won't really need the fridge.

Is that going to mess you guys up?!? I think the backup is for the exact dates, so if that works for them, that should work out nicely? Should I contact our backup?
