Closed due to capscity

The crazy wall to wall people stuff should end by the 1st or 2nd. But don't expect a ghost town. The marathon is the next weekend, and some schools don't start back up on the 3rd like ours do. Search around the DIS for the threads on how busy the crowds were the first week kof January last week. I recall that it didn't hit its really low January crowd levels until after Marathon weekend.

According to the TouringPlans.com website, the crowd level on 01/02 will be 10, whilst the crowds on the 01/03 will drop to an 8. However the biggest difference in attendence levels of the individual parks seem to HS and Epcot, where they drop down from 9.8 and 9.5 respectively to 5.7 and 5.0

Will Mardi Gras/Presidents Week be this bad? Please tell me no...please tell me no....:lol

Mostly interested in the 16th-21st of February. I am not naive to believe it won't be crowded...I just hope it's not crowded like it is currently.

During our first WDW New Year's week visit it was crazy crowded. But I had a wonderful time.

The special shows and parades and fireworks and park and resort decorations are amazing. For me it's much better entertainment than the rides which will be there for me next visit.

Warm sunshine in December is a thrill as well.

So, if you can relax and go with the flow, it's an amazing time to see "the world".

MK today around 1:00pm - as far as I know, NOT closed at this point! :goodvibes

So glad we left when we did. Our trip was from Dec. 18-27 and we didn't have any issues with crowds or long waits all week. Even on Christmas day Animal Kingdom was very managable. We didn't go to parks on the 26th and left to come home on the 27th, but we had a fabulous time with moderate, to slightly heavy crowds and we never waited longer than 20 minutes for any ride or attraction. If the wait was longer than that we were able to fastpass. Hope everyone there has a great time anyway!

We had the same experience at the MK during the stage 2 closings. Other than fighting crowds to get around, we didn't wait for any ride. We had plenty of fastpasses and a good plan. We rode Big Thunder three times, Splash twice, buzz 3, space 3 and hit the parade, castle show and lots of lesser attractions. Pretty much anything we wanted to do we were able.

We were originally planning on booking for Dec 23-30, 2012, but then I read on the DIS how bad that week was between Christmas & New Years. We moved our dates back a week (even though it means the kids will probably miss a couple days of school), but I feel much better about our decision. I know it will still get busy, but not as bad as it would've been.

We've gone between the 18th-23rd every year until now and have found it busy but very, very, very manageable with minimal planning and just lovely fun. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

Something about the news broadcast confuses me. Doesn't the male reporter state that MK closed to capacity the 25th, 29th, and 31st of last year? Then the female reporter states that she did some checking and that none of Disney's parks closed to capacity last year so that proves the crowds are greater this year. This sounds like conflicting info to me, but I am tired and may be hearing it wrong. Anyone catch it?

I caught that too. :confused3

Wonder how many punters would have loved to have had the option of a fifth gate this week to alleviate some pressure off the four existing gates??
Been talked about for years. Perhaps it's not as bad an option as some think!!!

Best of luck to all who are fighting the crowds. You have my admiration!!!!!

A couple from today. I barely took out my camera since we mostly shuffled around and did nothing, lol. By 11pm ride lines had evaporated and we did more in an hour than we have in 2 days.

This is the line for Small world....recognize where it is? Lol

And this is for haunted mansion. Now that is scary.

WOW! I have never seen a line that long for Mansion...even when we went once on Easter Sunday! That is insane. I just love all of your pictures and thank you so much for sharing them.

PS-love your avatar pic!

Thanks for sharing your pictures! They are incredible! Makes me glad I not there:scared1:

I've never seen anything like this! That line to HM is just incredible. Would any of you actually wait that long? I honestly can say that I wouldn't. If I can't get on a ride right away or at least Fastpass it, I would rather skip it.

I've never seen a line like that for HM either & I've been going since MK was WDW. I'm glad we don't plan on riding any rides. I've never seen a ride I'd stand in line that long for now. When I was a teenager, it was a different story. ;)

Finally08, thanks for the pics. Just what I needed to see, before heading out the door for a weekend at WDW.

We're first time NYEers too. We're also AP holders and staying onsite for the weekend. Here's our very loose plan - Tomorrow, the 30th, we'll be at Hollywood Studios to see Osbourne Lights. Then we're going to try to hop over to MK for the fireworks. If they're closed, no big deal. The 31st, we'll be spending all day (and night) at Epcot. I'm assuming we'll stake out a spot very early for the midnight fireworks. Good luck to you guys, I hope you have a wonderful time! I'm SO excited to ring in the new year at Epcot!

We're going to try for MK today for the parade, then over to Epcot for dinner. Tomorrow, we'll be going to DHS earlier than planned to assure we make our ADR @ HBD. Like you, we're going to spend the rest of the night in Epcot. Sunday we're probably going back to MK. I see you're an hour north of WDW. We're an hour south. We'll meet you in the middle a little later today. :p

I remember long waits for HM, but I don't remember the line ever having to be diverted like that - it was always within the pathway, and at worse out through the courtyard to the square.
