Closed due to capscity

That's just nuts at AK!! I wonder how many people were actually having fun? :rotfl:

We had fun. But like a PP, we are DVC owners and AP holders, so there is no pressure to do it all. If a line was crazy, we skipped it. We arrived around 11:30. Signs were up saying MK was closed. No doubt that increased the coming crowds. We managed to get FP for Kilamanjaro. Did the jungle trek. FP for Everest were gone. We got a second set of FP for Dinosaur at 1pm. Ate at Flame Tree and used both FP, then saw Finding Nemo. Afterwards (like 5pm) wait for Everest was down from 2.5 hours to 80 minutes. Too much for us, but we did single rider and waited about 25 minutes. :goodvibes

It was, however, actually difficult to just physically move through the park at times. The CMs were doing a great job staying positive and trying to create two way traffic and direct the crowds. People were mostly polite, at least what we saw - the weather was great, which helped. We're very grateful to be staying onsite and not having to manage the traffic in and out of parking lots!!!:good vibes

It took me forever to get through the MK toll plaza gates today. I got to work to an email saying that it was going to be busy like this until the 2nd. Um. Good to know after I was late. It took me 20 min from the last merge point on to World Drive to the gate. After that it was smooth sailing!

This is main street at night 12/26 - the park was NOT closed and NOT at capacity. Still wall-to-wall people.

Thanks for the pictures, they really drive home the point about the crowds

That is what it looked for us this past June - LATE June.

Something about the news broadcast confuses me. Doesn't the male reporter state that MK closed to capacity the 25th, 29th, and 31st of last year? Then the female reporter states that she did some checking and that none of Disney's parks closed to capacity last year so that proves the crowds are greater this year. This sounds like conflicting info to me, but I am tired and may be hearing it wrong. Anyone catch it?

:scared: @ that crowd picture of AK. I expect MK to close to capacity several times during Christmas week, but all four parks?!! :scared1:

That looks awful :scared1:. My nephew is there for the first time with their 7 and 5 yo DDs and wife -- they said they knew it would be busy but I don't think they quite got just how busy it could get. Hope their late sleeping girls got used to getting up early for RD and that yesterday wasn't the day they had IOA tix that they purchased express passes for $$$$. I think if you've been there and know your way around it would be doable but for the average Joe who likes to head to the parks for 10-11am ... yikes!!

How anyone even thinks of going to the parks with crowds like that is beyond me. I wouldn't get in that crowd for FREE let alone pay for it! That's why we like mid-January, sure it can get a little chilly in the mornings and afternoons but we get to see more than the back of someone's head.

all I can say is WOW!!! So thankful we went the first week in December when the crowds were unusually lighter than normal.

I noticed that too. I believe she is wrong and he was correct. I remember last year the parks closing for capacity on the day's he mentioned.

It wasn't just the Disney parks that closed either..IOA closed to capacity( the whole park not just WWoHP)..Orlando is razy busy this week..I will never go back this time of year..been there, done that. The crowds are just too much for me

I think they meant that while MK closed to capacity on Christmas Day, New Years Eve and the 29th - no parks closed last year on the 28th. Which probably is a bad omen for the crowd levels the 29th, 30th and 31st!!

The other interesting thing is that Legoland also closed. So if the existing parks still closed AND a new park closed as well thats got to be good news for the economy in Orlando!

and it sounds like Seaworld should have closed but didnt!

Reading this makes me so anxious...we leave Jan 7th for our trip.
Waiting 3 hours for a ride? ridiculous!

If they are going purely by date, they aren't looking at it properly. They closed on the 29th - which was a Wednesday, like the 28th this year.

I think it has to do with the holidays being on the weekend, Wendesday becomes a "perfect storm" day for crowds. XMas crowds haven't gone home yet, NYE crowds have just arrived...
