Closed due to capscity

Id die if it was that busy. I keep thinking what if i really needed to use the bathroom? that wouldnt end well haha

Reading this makes me so anxious...we leave Jan 7th for our trip.
Waiting 3 hours for a ride? ridiculous!

Don't worry, it won't be anything like you see in the video! We arrive on the 6th. Once the marathoners head out of town on Monday, we'll have the park all to ourselves :) I think that Wed. the 9th has crowd level of a little over a 1.0 for some parks as compared to the 10.0 craziness of this week!

Thanks "corgi_monster" what parks are you planning to visit during your trip?

All 4 Disney parks, both Universal parks, Kennedy Space Center, and possibly Seaworld. We're there for 2 weeks, so we're going to back in as much fun as we can!

If you haven't already, I would suggest buying a subscription to touringplans.com The predicted crowd levels between the 6th-19th (my dates) fluctuate widely from 1's - 7's. So while it won't be crazy busy, I definitely think picking the right park on the right day can help make your trip even better! Lots of ADR's still available for January, too, so I hope that's a good sign.

We just returned from our 12-night trip. We flew out this past Tuesday, the 27th. I was actually surprised that Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas the parks we went to were not that busy.

Now the days leading up to Christmas Eve were quite busy - Toy Story Mania on the 22nd was at 150 minutes by the time we got out of there. Fastpasses for RnR and TOT were gone by mid-afternoon. I had never experienced this before but DHS actually opened everything up 30 minutes prior to published park opening.

On Christmas Eve we headed over to Animal Kingdom for the morning/afternoon. Expedition Everest never had more than a 20 minute wait prior to our departure a little after lunch.

The key as always - get there early and leave for afternoon break.

Something about the news broadcast confuses me. Doesn't the male reporter state that MK closed to capacity the 25th, 29th, and 31st of last year? Then the female reporter states that she did some checking and that none of Disney's parks closed to capacity last year so that proves the crowds are greater this year. This sounds like conflicting info to me, but I am tired and may be hearing it wrong. Anyone catch it?

I noticed that too right away. strange....

This is main street at night 12/26 - the park was NOT closed and NOT at capacity. Still wall-to-wall people.

This is crazy to look at! I cant imagine having any sort of fun or good time in a crowd like that. This is also why we will never go over holiday times!:scared1:

It looked like this when we hopped over to MK around 7 to catch regular wishes at 8 on Saturday, December 17. We pretty much wound our way to Liberty Square (which didn't seem as bad since people were waiting for the parade) to meet my Mom who was watching the parade. As we were walking back, we were so shocked at the amount of people waiting to watch wishes! We headed directly for the Train Station so we could see wishes and then RUN out of there!

I should have taken a picture. hmph.

So will it be this bad in March?? I'm scared now! I knew we were picking a busy time, but since I'm a teacher, we don't have a lot of flexibility on dates. We are arriving on March 26th which is 2 weeks before Easter so I'm hoping that helps us avoid some of the Easter/Spring Break crowds.

I'm a teacher too!:teacher: We always come spring break and it's crowded, but nothing like this (not even week of Easter) In the spring, people spend time at their pools and the water parks and ALL the locals are not out of school the same week as the entire country. :rotfl:

We just arrived yesterday and arrived at MK right at 2pm. I was unaware there had been a closing since we just got right there on the bus.
I will try to link to some photos...there is no easy way to do this on the iPad.

This was what we would see near rides....cms with signs out in the middle of who know where that stated that was where the line ended.

Our twins are just 2 now but we've already decided we'll just take them out of school for a day or two and do long weekends duing the off season! After 15 years of going either in early December, October, or January, you can't go back to the peak crowds!

I love Disney with all of my heart, but I could never go when it was that crowded. If I had to choose not going or going when its that crowded, I would choose not to go!

You might be justified in being scared. According to touringplans, from March 26 through April 12 the crowds will be at 9s and 10s. You might want to subscribe to them so you can see which parks are the best on which days.

You can easily take your kids out of school in out in their early years...as long as your school system doesnt have some crazy attendance regulations. We have always taken our kids out for a week at a time all the way up till their senior year. I will say it was easier on them in elementary school for sure, but they have always done fine missing a week even in high school. Once our oldest went to college we had to work around her schedule. We went over her spring break in early March (took the others out) and then we did mid May once oldest got through with college (took the others out) and this year we went the first week of June and pulled the others out for their last few days of school. They never do anything except have class parties and watch movies the last few days of school. Im looking forward to next year....dd will have graduated college and we can get back into our regular "off season" taking the kids out when we WANT to go:lmao: We are looking at the week after Thanksgiving. We did that week back in 2005 and it was GREAT:thumbsup2
Enjoy the early years with your kids and getting to go whenever you want!!! The time will fly quickly:)

I saw that--that's why I'm concerned! I expected crowds at that time of year, but really thought since we were two weeks out from Easter it wouldn't be quite so bad. So, if it really is that bad, will be still be OK if we plan to be at the parks at RD, back to the resort in the afternoon and then back into the parks in the evening? Our other alternative was July, but the heat will be terrible then and we got Free Dining in March.

Crowds like this, with long wait times is not a fun trip in my book, what is the chance of getting a days refund, when you find you are not able to move let alone get up to a CS counter, or would it just be a wasted, lost money day,
used to think a day at Disney is better than any day at work, but with seeing crowds like this, may have to re- think that thought. :headache:
