How was your stay? Was Randy S. there?

.

My stay was fabulous. Randy was there. He is such a great guy and the rest of the staff are superb too. I booked my upcoming stay for October while I was there and the staff was so excited that they went ahead and worked with me on my room request. They had my room assigned for October before I left.

That's fantastic that they were able to already block your room. What wonderful service and I can't wait to be back in just 11 days.

We do - we do:worship:

I've been MIA for a bit, busy with moving. Has there been any more word on CA Grill closing?
CA Grill is still rumored to be closing in the end of the year to re-open in 2013 with possibly a new name and menu.

Your question reminded me that Hoop-Dee-Doo has changed it's closure date from August 5 to September 30, through the end of the year.

Just got back from our 3 nights/4 day trip . I Have to say i loved everything about the WL except for the beds. The kids loved the bunk beds . But the wife and I hated the bed (we are a bit overweight) But being light sleepers you could not move in the bed without it popping and creaking constantly(never have had the an issue like this at any other place). We were on the second Floor , Right off of the elevator . We could see the Fire works through the trees. Everyone was very nice.

So good to hear you had a good time!

The beds are getting quite worn. But with the rennovations there will be all new mattresses :goodvibes

Good morning! Are you going to be at the Lodge during Easter? I was looking at the Disney Florist yesterday and they had some really cute baskets and other fun things. :)

My mom and I are on the plane on our way back to Philadelphia.
Had 5 glorious days at Wilderness Lodge. Stayed in I think the BEST room 6004.
End of the hall, 6th floor, very quiet and we could see Wishes from our room each night. The room was just spectacular.

We loved the location of the room because we weren't too far from Roaring Fork and the Pool.

We ate at Roaring Fork everyday and the food was great and the CM's were so kind, attentive and friendly.

One dinner was at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Mom and I requested a quiet table in the back near the Lobby. We had a delicious Skillet dinner and there was no shenanigans. We enjoyed our quiet dinner and it was perfect!!!

I was a bit nervous about the busses at WL. BUT.....
We had only the best and fastest bus rides. We never waited for more than a few minutes. We also enjoyed taking the boats to the MK and to Fort Wilderness. We loved the boat rides!! And again we never waited long for them to arrive.

Watched the Electrical Water Parade a few nights from the beach. I forgot just how amazing is !!!

I will be honest. I wasn't too excited about staying at the WL since my husband and I ALWAYS stay at one of the EPCOT resorts. My mom chose the Lodge.
Well, I called my husband daily to tell him how much I enjoyed it!! We stayed at the Lodge for our Honeymoon but haven't been back in years. We may just have to stay atthe WL for our trip in September

Helloooo to all the regulars from the BW and CR threads I usually see. :) Visiting here for a friend who is headed to the WL in April. Is there an equivalent to the Hess station at the BW that is close to the WL? Is there anything even within taxi range? Or is the best bet to use Garden Grocer or WeGoShop? They will not have a car and are using DME.

Thanks!

The gift shop has a fairly large selection of groceries being a DVC resort too. It may be a bit more pricy then Publix, and don't know how their prices compare to Garden Grocer- may be equal.
I'd have a look at The Mercantile first, then if you aren't finding what you want, you can put in an order from Garden Grocer.

Is this the cupcake you'd like?:rolleyes1

Looks different than the one I fell in absolute love with in december. Is the frosting marshmallowy or does it just have marshmallows on top now? Is the cake a gram/chocolate one? Even the texture made me think gram crackers. When I got home I reproduced it and actually did add crushed crackers to the batter and it had the right texture. This looks like it wasn't but a chocolate cake?

I've probably said the same thing about WL - verbatim. I've found the mattresses to be hit or miss. Christmas '10, the mattresses we had on the 5th floor were awful and sloping toward the nightstand. Last summer, the mattresses on the 7th floor were just fine.

So good to hear you had a good time!

Yes, the mattresses all will be replaced starting April 15:worship:. I'm hoping they'll also replace the "bedspread" with a down-type comforter like they have at the CR - they have the coziest beds:cloud9:

I saw those just today when I looked at the Disney Parks Blog in my inbox. Boy, are they pricey, but very cute. We depart Easter Day and DD is 13 so I don't have to go all out like I used to. For Christmas though, I brought everything - tree, presents, wreath, etc... I'm downsizing for Easter:thumbsup2. Have you ever ordered from Disney Florist?

Thanks for posting your review. Your mom made a great choice! Did you book a bounceback for September? If you do book again, you might want to add to your request the room that you liked so much. I'm glad that you (unexpectedly) enjoyed your stay:)

I've never had one, but I posted this on the prior page, it's from a food blog:

S’mores Cupcake: The S’mores Cupcake is made of graham cracker-flavored cake with chocolate inside. The cake is perfectly moist, and not too dry. The cupcake is topped with melted browned marshmallow on top with a consistency that’s more on par with regular frosting than it is marshmallow. It tastes like marshmallow, though, so all is well. On top of it all is a piece of Hershey’s chocolate, which is the finishing touch on a really unique, and really delicious, cupcake! To our knowledge, this cupcake is only available at Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

This is the one I had...the frosting was like a 7 minute one rather than a butter cream or something like that. It had the chocolate on top and the center..

Checked in to the Wilderness yesterday and got upgraded to a courtyard view. Thought, how lucky can you get. Well !!!! NOT. For to days now we can’t even come back to our room and take a short nap in the afternoon, loudest bump, bump music I have very had to endure coming from the pool. Wife and I are not happy at all.

That's the afternoon pool party they have for the kids. Is there a way that you could change rooms? We had a room on the 6th floor upper courtyard and as we could still hear the noise it was very muffled. If that still makes you crazy maybe you could ask for a woods view room overlooking the pond. They have been doing that party for years now. Sorry it's making you and your wife not very happy.

We were talking to one of the CL cast members the last time and they said that they were FINALLY getting rid of the bedspreads!! They will be going to the comforters that they can change out the covers for every guest. They do this over at the Yacht and it is so wonderful.

I have ordered from them a few times. We have been very pleased. They are expensive but I usually look for the smaller things, like the silly talking baloons they used to have.

P.S. - Those smores cupcakes are my favorite!

Yes, that's exactly what it is and PLEASE take TheLodgeLady's advice. The WL room Assignor is wonderful and will do everything she can to make you happy. There is no reason to be unhappy. Please go down to the front desk and explain that you are pleased that you were upgraded, but the pool music in the afternoon is bothersome and interrupts your napping and that you would much prefer a Woods View room. With an upper room, you might even be able to see Wishes;)

Please update us when you can. Oh, and the Bellman will move your belongings for you.

So wonderful to hear that the bedspreads are being removed:worship:. I can't believe that the GF - and even RPC - still have them:sad2:. I love the YC/CR ones with the duvets. Thank you for letting me know the good news:goodvibes

dvbrooks, I definitely would head down to the front desk and plead your case. They most definitely should be able to move you. We've requested a move before and our request was granted. Good luck!

:flower3:

Does anyone know if the mattresses/bed spreads in the Villas are also scheduled for replacement?? That would be perfect!!! :cool1:

This will be our first time at the WL, we are very excited:yay: I made a woods view reservation. After looking at all the pictures with my family they tell me they wish I booked a courtyard view:confused3 So my questions are these - Is a courtyard view always better than a woodsview? Are there any bad courtyard views? Is it worth the extra $$? And finally, we are going during FD, will I be able to change to a courtyard view and keep my FD package or do I risk messing up my whole reservation?

Thank you to all WL and Dis experts:flower3:
