Ok...I double dog dare you! LOL. And funny, I didn't know you were a mil wife too. I told DH that once the girls are a bit older, I will certainly be spending time in WDW with them while he is deployed...he was very supportive of that. :goodvibes

While DH has been retired from the Air Force for 4 years, he still works for the DoD and was in AFG for the DoD, not the Air Force. Which branch is your DH in? I definitely recommend visiting WDW if/when your DH is TDY or deployed as it really helps to make the time go faster. I wouldn't have wanted to be anyplace else without DH last Christmas. We stayed at the CR and WL and it really helped "distract" me from the fact that it was our first Christmas apart since we met. I even enjoyed driving home for 14 hours!

I hope your DH doesn't get deployed, but if he does, I say - go to WDW no matter what your kids' ages! And, you can't beat that RO 40% off;)

He is NH Air National Guard, in for 10 years. His full time job is with them under the DoD, he is an airfield manager. :) We have quite a bit in common! He was deployed last year for 4 months, which I realize isn't a ton, but still...and he is actually leaving Jan 15th, 2012 until 2nd week of March, but he is only going to Mississippi for a training class. At least he will be stateside, and in the same time zone (or close to it) :goodvibes

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

To all of you military families........... Thank you!! Thank you so so much.:grouphug:

Those Christmas tree photos are beautiful!!! I have less than 3 months now til I walk in the lobby again :cool1:...the decorations won't be there, but maybe some year I will stay at Christmas time!

ELAW, Thanks for posting the tree pics!!

I can't wait to get there in a few short weeks.

Brian

ELAW great pics. So sad by the time we go, mid Jan all the decorations are down :sad1: I think WL has the most beautiful decorations!

I love the pics!!! Makes me so excited. Just a few short weeks till we arrive in the world...then a short wait till we check into WL (for our first visit there!!!!):woohoo:

So I talked myself down off the ledge, and will still be staying at WL for our anniversary, but decided to downgrade from CL to CY view, instead of completely cancelling WL and downgrading to POR.... Had "things" happen over the past few days that has made me very "unnerved", but looking up again. :goodvibes

Maybe you should meet him after his training at WDW for spring break?!

How sweet and thoughtful, Smileybug - YES! Thank you all:grouphug:

That tree always gets me.
Me, too!! It's so hard to look at the decorations knowing we aren't going this Christmas, but I'm so happy for all of you who get to experience the magic of a WDW Christmas:santa:

So sorry about the "things" that happened this week:hug:. I think you made a prudent decision though and you still get to stay at WL which is the most important thing:goodvibes

How long do the Christmas decorations stay up??
I believe I've read that WDW Resorts start taking down the docorations the Monday after New Year's Day, so that would either be 1-2 or 1-9 this year.

INTERNET:

Internet access is available for $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours. Internet access is free (by using a code) to DVC members and those staying in suites. One ethernet cable is provided in each room and is hanging in the closet in a bag. There is no WiFi available. However, I recommend using an Apple AirPort Express which provides WiFi connectivity for both Mac products and PCs.

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand what is written above (from page one). It says there is no WIFI available but they recommend using an Apple AirPort Express which provides WIFI connectivity. How does it work? Once you buy it is there a monthly fee? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Free wifi is now available in the main hotel .... That being said, it gets very slow during peak usage hours

WDW Resorts have been "testing" free WiFi for free since last month. Prior to this, you had to use a provided ethernet cable to connect your computer to the internet plug in the wall. If you wanted to free yourself from the cable ("WiFi"), you could use an AirPort Express from Apple (about $99), which plugs in to the internet plug in the wall and allows your computer to connect wirelessly to the internet. It does not provide an internet connection, it only enables your computer to connect wirelessly (without an ethernet cable).

Now that all the resorts have (free) WiFi, and not just the suites and DVC, you shouldn't have any need for the AirPort Express, unless Disney's WiFi "test" encounters too many problems such as traffic load (which elaw mentioned), etc... and they revert back to the cable, but I can't imagine them going back to the dark ages like that.
