So excited to check in at the Wilderness Lodge tomorrow~ our first time there~ got a bunk bed room for me and DS 4!

I agree. Something about this resort that I find myself wandering the halls at 4 am.
I have posted before but I love this.

A shuttle launch from the WL one morning.

what an amazing picture:thumbsup2

not sure how i missed this thread, going to go back and look at all the pics since i'm 'home' sick, won't be back there until October.

For those going and those that have been, quick question. I have a pin that currently will not work on my room selection, Woods View, but if I am willing to upgrade to either Club Level, or Club Level Honeymoon, it would only add $100-$200 to my trip respectively. Is it worth it? If so, do you still keep the dining plan with it, or since you have the lounge with food, you just do OOP for food?

Thanks :). It was early morning and so peacful to watch that shuttle take off. We are going this week and will come back with lots more photos to post

Heck ya it's worth it!!!!!:cool1: I'd skip the dining plan too! Totally NOT worth the $$$ especially with the food offerings all day at the Old Faithful Club!

You most definitely scored yourself an amazing deal!!:cool1:

Hello all! Looking at trying to stay at WL Feb. 2013 and I'm currently reading the entire thread, so I can absorb as much WL as I can. I'm only on page 45, so I have a ways to go, but I do have a question.

We're hoping to get AP for 2013, and in doing so hoping for an AP discount for late Jan, early Feb. Dh looked at the rooms at WL (it would just be me and him going) and he would like a Deluxe Room (this will be a chilled out relaxed vacation, so we plan on enjoying the room/resort). So, my question is do the Deluxe rooms every have a AP discount? Or is it usually just other rooms?

WDWKOOK - Thanks for an awesome thread, you make me so excited about trying out the WL! :woohoo:

Yes, I think it would be worth it. And I'd skip the DDP. You could do some TS lunches if there are some fav restaurants you want to go to, and supplement the evening CL offerings at night with some snacking at the parks.

We stayed CL last Aug at BC, and we felt we couldn't really indulge in the CL evening appies too much for fear of not being able to eat dinner. I wouldn't get the DDP again with CL.
We were usually at our resort for the evening appies because we take a mid day break, to relax, swim, etc then go back to a park at night.

I am sure this has been answered and I am still wading my way thru this thread. Great, helpful info. This will be my 2nd trip to the WL. Last time we requested a specific room (cant remember what room number though) that was a courtyard view and we were in the South wing at the end of the hall and we could watch the Water Parade from our balcony.

This trip, we have reserved a courtyard view once again but my wife has said that she would like to not be so far from Roaring Forks as it was a hike from our room. From what I have read so far, I have gathered the following info and questions and would appreciate any help that could be given.

1. If I want to be closer to Roaring Fork, I should request to be in the North Wing, correct?
2. If I request to be in the North wing do I also need to specify that I want to have an inner courtyard view?
3. I understand that the 5th floor is generally a good request to make. Is that correct? I would prefer to be higher up.
4. Do I make a general request or request certain rooms?

Any other suggestions or corrections would be much appreciated.

Club level is definitely worth the extra money and the Old Faithful staff is wonderful.

I have done WL CL with dining and without. I think it really depends on how much time you plan to be at the resort. I prefer to do it with dining. I can use the TS for lunch in the parks and the QS for dinners on nights I don't make it back to the resort between 5-7. I have also used the quick service for breakfast at roaring forks. Sometimes I want more than cereal, fruit and pastries for breakfast. You really can't go wrong either way.

I had a club level reservation in March at the WL in room 7045. This room is on the inner courtyard and a very short walk to the elevator that comes out next to roaring forks. It is in the North Wing

You could request a room on 5 or 6 in our around 5045 if you want an inner courtyard room. You can see the lake and pool a bit from here, but it is a little farther from the Pool Party Noise. The other consideration is a woods view room on 5 or 6 in the north wing overlooking the otter pond. You can see the fireworks from the magic kingdom.

Staying this summer at BCV (which I do love) but my heart is aching for WL....such an amazing hotel! I guess I could boat over for dinner, but not the same.....:(

Have a great trip :yay:. We had bunkbeds on our first WL stay when our boys were little and they loved them :goodvibes.

I think it's totally worth it :thumbsup2. We've done CL and we've done the DDP but never together. I think it depends on each individual and what kind of trip you want. The lounge offerings usually aren't enough to make meals out of, but it depends on the kind of eater you are. I could make a meal out of most night offerings, but my DH and DSs could not as they need an actual meal. The nightly offerings are meant to be more like appetizers than a full meal, but light eaters can probably get full from them ;). Breakfast, on the other hand, is great in the lounge and makes it a quick morning meal before heading out for the day :).

We are going this week and will come back with lots more photos to post

Have a great trip :). I can't wait to see your pics when you return.....we love the WL and I love seeing all the beautiful pics from everyone's trips :goodvibes.

WDWKOOK - Thanks for an awesome thread, you make me so excited about trying out the WL! :woohoo:

Welcome to the WL thread :welcome:. You picked an awesome resort to try as the WL is a beautiful resort and you're going to love it. I can't answer about AP discounts with the Deluxe rooms as we've never had APs, but anytime I have priced the WL with a GP discount or PIN code, the deluxe rooms have never been available. I think there are only so many deluxe rooms (WDWKOOk would know how many there are ;)) and I think those are considered a type of suite and aren't discounted too often. That's not to say it's impossible, but it might not be easy getting one with a discount. A standard CL room is pretty easy (in my experience) to get with a discount, but the deluxe rooms are harder to come by discounted. With that said, AP discounts could be different than other discounts. Happy planning and enjoy reading the WL thread as it's filled with alot of great information, thanks to WDWKOOK :goodvibes.

Yes! Artist Point is one of our all time favorites! They had two of the most amazing chefs but they have now moved on. My Al and Matt. Chef Matt recently moved out of state. :sad2:

We go often and it has always been wonderful. We did have a less than stellar meal last December. Went with some friends and nothing went right. But, figured it was just a fluke. They just got in a new chef and their Manager had moved on to Cali Grille. I think the new chef was trying to find his own way. He had some big shoes to fill.

We went back in February for our Anniversary and had one of the best meals yet!! Chef Matthew has definitely found his way. Everything was so good. Fantastic night. Chef has put his own spin on some of the menu items and they are really turning out! Can't wait until August! That is if we don't sneak over sooner. ;)
I think it's great that despite a bad experience, you gave it another try and were very pleased. Based on your most recent experience, I'm going to book it for August.

I see you went there for your anniversary and I would love some ideas of something memorable for our anniversary dinner. We love CA Grill, but sometimes the service can be less than memorable! Did you find AP to be just right as a celebratory dinner? We also love all the fun at HDDR, but they're closing August 5 so we can't go there. We don't want to do V&A because it seems too much like eating at the Greenbrier Resort which we do every so often. Would love to hear your thoughts - and anyone else's!

Does anyone know when the Flag Family of the Day will resume? I heard it was suspended due to roof repair. True?
As of Easter it was still closed and roof repairs were running behind schedule.

I'm very excited about the refurb! It's slated to start in a couple days, has anyone heard anything about the Mock Up rooms? I'm just so curious!! :)
You'll love the new rooms. I just posted a rehab update to the first page - post #1.

Thanks Kook & loirbell about the Shoe Tree story. Interesting. Now I'm going to have to go rent Sea Raycers again and go look  I've never noticed it before!

Love that path to FW, as you can see in Jan we did the Segway early morning tour, and I was hoping to see Armadillos but didn't. We did see deer though!
You can also get up close with the Shoe Tree when you're on the Red Flag boat going to FW;)

Thank you WDWKook! You've definitely been there, done that (BTDT) and were the exact kind of expert I was looking for ;)
Oh, my, thank you for explaining the acronym that eluded me. Big Thunder kept going through my mind, but I couldn't figure out DT! Thank you, Shel!!

*sigh* Been reading some posts, watching some of the amazing pictures.

I really hope I can convince Ronald that we really need to go back soon. Like next year or so :)
Convincing him to go for the WL again won't be too hard. But I hope next year and not 3 or 4 years from now... waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too long to wait .

So keeping fingers crossed here :goodvibes

And keep those pictures coming!
OK, here's one for you!

29 more days !!!!! Thank you for all the updates and pictures.....Can't wait for are 1st stay at the Lodge....:cool1:  :yay:
I'm so excited for your first stay. Will you be posting from WL?
It was a wonderful review :lovestruc
Thank you so much:hug:. I hope you're still booked at WL/CLpopcorn::

If anyone is visiting within the month and you're fortunate enough to get a renovated room, can you please post some pictures when you get back? Thank you so much!

Hey Kook!!!

Sooooo, I just read that the rehab will be done by end of Sept....if I am going in July, I should be able to get a new room, right???? Like, if I request a room in the North Wing??? Hmmmm....:rolleyes1

WDWKook did you see a mock up of the new rooms when you were at WL or any other info you can share? Will the rooms be not as dark? DIS seems to be the only board that has reported the refurb. Others are saying it won't start for a while yet. Thoughts? We'ew all so excited!:cool1:
