but only for 10 days?

So nice to read your positive comments:goodvibes. Did you book a bounceback?

We did not book a bounceback. The dates aren't great for us because DD starts Kindergarten next Fall. We do have APs though that are valid through Jan 19, 2012 so we're thinking about going very light on Christmas and doing a long weekend with our AP discount :)

I was thinking the same thing.:confused3

Maybe (hopefully) it is a pilot type program they are trying to see the response they get. It would seem rather silly to take the time to install it in all those resorts and then take it out, if they only intend on having it for 10 days. But who knows for sure?

The cabled ethernet access will only be active thru October 24. The cabling will stay in the walls, no need to remove it. Wireless only will be available after that date. That is how I'm interpreting it.

This is where I need a face palm smily. I read it wrong. I thought it said complimentary "wireless" would only be available until Oct 24.

Just found out we're staying here for our Christmas trip (12/22-12/26)! My parents are taking our entire family -- them, my husband and me, and my sister and her family -- for Christmas and I cannot wait. We were originally booked in CSR, but my husband and I just bought Annual Passes and had their travel agent rebook under the AP discount; with the money they saved (plus a little extra), they upgraded us all to WL!

We usually spend Christmas in their log cabin so this will really feel like Christmas, I think. I'm so excited.

Question about having the AP rooms booked with our AP -- I or my husband have to be present when they check in, right?

Whoever has the AP has to be present I believe. You may be asked to show it.
Sometimes I'm asked, sometimes not.

Just booked a Courtyard View Bunk Bed room with dining for 4/27 to 5/6! So very excited. This will be our first time at WL!

:cool1:

Wow! I got the Standard view AP rate just in time. I had been watching the Passholder site, and a few days after they released AP discounts, the standard view at WL came up, and now it's gone  So happy I grabbed it when it came up!!
CONGRATS!! I looked on the first day and could not get it. UGH!

Oh well!!!

Yes, one of you would need to be there at check-in.

Hey all,

I'm kind of depressed... For January, I tried and tried to book WL with the AP discount, but all I come up with is CY or higher. So I booked AKL instead for the first time. I have to say that it's still not totally sitting well with me.

We still get to hit WL for a weekend in December which is more than a lot of people get to do.

Anyone here stayed at both and can help out?

Brian

Hello fellow Marylander!! (I lived in Annapolis area for 25 yrs!)
I've been to AKV. What do you want to know?

I'm just a WL die hard, so I personally need some convincing that I'll like AKL.

I'm actually moving closer to dc this weekend. I'll so miss Naptown....

You will love AKL .... the two lodges are my favorite resorts .... and of course GC in Disneyland! Guess I'm a mountain lodge kind of girl. :rotfl:

I would live to do GC someday. I have always thought I'd like AKL too, but now that it is booked.... I'm not sure and I can't put my finger on why.

I absolutely love the AKL! I much prefer its restaurants, pool, and room decor. The lobby is just as distinctive and beautiful as that of the WL. I say give it a try! It is similar enough to the WL that I think you will enjoy it. :)

Reasons to like AKL: the pool, the food, the CMs, and of course the animals!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks. I did book dinner at Jiko and Sanaa. I've already been to Boma.

I guess I will find out. I love sitting on the balcony at WL and looking out, but I mostly look at the water. I know I'll miss the boat. TOOT! TOOT!

While I did like AKV, I was not in love with it. No comparisons to VWL. Unless you get a Savanna view, there is nothing to look at from your balcony. We had a pool view and it was noisy. We love the woods view at WL. There is no quiet pool. You have to take buses to everywhere and they can be long rides at times. The restaurants were ok. Sorry Roaring Fork is the best CS on property!
