We returned from WL yesterday (Friday) due to Irene. We were scheduled to stay until Sun. We were in room 3022 overlooking a little pond complete with alligater! We could see the fireworks through the trees. Our room was pristine.

The boats & buses were excellent. Weather was very hot with typical afternoon t-storms. The pool was fun and we always found a chair. The CM's were friendly. I was pleased to see how much Roaring Forks has improved from our stay years ago. You can now get made to order sandwiches instead of the pre-packed ones. They also had burgers, flatbreads, chick nuggets and a pasta of the day. B/fast was good, pancakes, mickey waffels, sandwiches, platters, etc.
Happy to read that you had a great visit! Thanks for letting us know.

Does anyone know what the concierge views are?
There are three possible CL views:

1. The inner courtyard of WL. You will have a view of the pool, geyser and Bay Lake.

2. Woods view. Trees and possibly the Otter Pond.

3. Courtyard of VWL.

All of the CL (7th floor) rooms have dormer balconies. There are also Deluxe Rooms with CL access and their location is posted on a map on the first page. They are not located on the 7th floor.

We changed our entire trip today, shortened it and dropped FD, but we're all HAPPY because we get to spend 4 nights at WL instead of only 1 !!! Although we love CSR as well it was WL we really wanted this trip.

Now I'm excited - can't wait to get there in just eight little weeks!

Just got back from a great stay at WL..My family booked 4 standard rooms and we all got upgraded to Woodsview. Two rooms had bunkbeds. Our rooms overlooked the lobby over the check in desk. We were on the 5th floor-5099,5098,5097,5091. My room wasnt ready by 3 so the manager saw I had bought 2 refill mugs and refunded me the cost because it!

Does anyone know if you can buy a bottle of wine anywhere at the WL? I would think maybe the gift shop. We love to sit and have a glass of wine before we go to dinner and I'm not sure if bringing from home (and checking baggage because of it) is worth it if I can get it there. Thanks!

Yes, there is wine at the very back right corner of the mercantile. I just returned Friday at midnight! A man was picking up a bottle and seemed pleased by the price. Have fun!:)

Thanks for the speedy reply! I'm a planner and I can check this one off my list :goodvibes

First WL stay is in a month - I'm getting very excited as I read this :goodvibes
You're going to have a great first stay! It might even end-up the first of many stays;)

They always try to go above and beyond at the WL. It was very thoughtful of the mgr. to refund your mugs when your room wasn't ready and check-in isn't technically till after 4. And, you were all upgraded, too:thumbsup2. What a great trip!

I have photos of the wine both in the fridge and the "liquor cabinet" (which is behind the check-out), on the first page - post #9

That's interesting you mention the price because when the manager saw I was taking photos of all the fridges, he offered to open the "liquor cabinet" (it's locked) so that I could photograph it and he mentioned that customers seem pleased and surprised that their prices aren't outrageous.

Hello disneywatcher,

How did you ask for this? I just called down there to try and make arraignments to surprise my DG, or at least find out who to specifically to talk to when we arrive but was told that the only people that get to go up there is the "Flag Family" who go up early in the morning and raise the flags. I would really like to surprise my DG with this, especially since she's such a Disney Pro, it would be so nice to give her a treat that she didn't know about.

Thanks in advance. :thumbsup2

Mike

Mike~ When we checked in, we asked about being a Flag Family but all the slots were full except for the morning we were leaving. We were talking to the CM checking us in as well as the Day Manager (well one of them anyway) and kept insisting they give that honor to another family but he kept insisting that we would do something else. He looked at our ADR list and saw when we had an early dinner night and told us to come back to the lobby at around 9:45pm and check in at the concierge desk to be taken up to see the fireworks. It might have helped that when we checked in and they asked where we were arriving from that I mentioned my DH had come from Afghanistan for his R&R leave.

That's great! Do you have all your ADRs booked?

No not yet - I've booked a couple with no problems so far but my luck may not hold so I need to finish working out our itinerary so I can book the others.... Now that I know we'll be at the WL that helps with the planning :goodvibes

Please thank your DH for serving in AFG. I hope his deployment is over very soon and you can all be together again.

The WL has been just wonderful to us. Last Christmas when DH was in AFG, DD and I went alone to WL and we were upgraded to CL access and this summer was his "return home/to WDW" celebration (he actually returned in January) and they were even more generous with going above and beyond for us. They are a wonderful group at the lodge:grouphug:

love the new site - we will be there in a 2 bedroom villa for Thanksgiving!

Thank you, happygirlagain! What a treat to be in a two-bedroom at Thanksgiving! Enjoy!

We are actually nearing the end of this deployment! I have to start making my Welcome Home signs soon! I love the staff at the Lodge! They go above and beyond making everyone (not just those in the Military) feel at home! Please tell your DH that we say thank you as well from one Armed Forces Family to another :D
Just want to see my ticker. LOL!

Although my ticker is shorter then what it says (not letting our kids know when our return trip is) it's still farther out then yours...Have fun when you go!

Subbing...

no WLV trip planned yet....I can't plan anything til next month...hoping I can get in WLV next August.:lovestruc
