Brian, we asked the captain about this in June when we went and he said the boats operate in a clockwise motion in the morning and then counterclockwise in the afternoon. I believe they switch around 1 or 2. I'm not sure though. The red flag boats do the same thing.

That's funny because it was that way the first weekend in June. Guess they keep changing it. :confused3 We also had a green/red boat in the afternoon which hit WL then FW. But in the morning and evening we had a dedicated Red flag boat.

Brian

Just make sure to ask the Captain what his next stop is. The Blue Flag boats have been going in two different directions the last few times I have been there. So one boat will take you over to FW before the CR. The other will go right to the CR. Though the extra few minutes of boat ride over to FW is really pretty if you have the time.

Brian

Thanks Brian!! :thumbsup2

LOL...With that advice she'll end up on 66 or 270 during rush hour! :rotfl:

Brian
I do my best to avoid 95 at all costs lol. Have never ended up on Rt 66 or on 270 either lol

I just ordered my WL mug!!!

Should have bought it when I was there, but anyhoo..

Where did you order it from? I have one of the Totem Pole ones from 2010 and wanted to get another (didn't while I was there and kicking myself in the rear for it too). I got 2 of the "camp style" mugs this year though...trying to gradually get rid of my Non WL coffee mugs :rotfl2:

I may be making a WL convert before their first trip -

Was talking to my boyfriend and started reading the menu of Artists Point and all he asked was "When are we eating there?" When I told him it'd be in the hotel I want to stay in next year he was pleased to know that it was in the hotel :rotfl:

I really need to sit with him in the next few months to plan this trip

Just back from a week at the lodge..i love that place....:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Perfect vacation!
That's great!

You've discovered a little secret - WDW food is the way to a man's heart:love:. Keep those menus coming and talk about ADRs and maybe the DxDP and you'll have the trip booked before you know it;). Has he seen the the Old Faithful Club lounge photos yet? Mwahahaha....

Oh I have decided we're doing the DxDP (I wanna do a handful of "dates" at signature restaurants while we're there and had this last trip and worked out great!). And I have been toying with the idea of the Old Faithful Club... I think we need to figure out (and by "we" I mean "me") ADRs to see if it's worth the money

Yes, YOU need to figure it out because you don't want to overwhelm your DBF with all those little details;)

Keep in mind that if you do BOTH the DxDP and CL, that is a lot of food to contend with on a daily basis. If you're not really doing CL for the food, then that would work-out fine. But, if you want to do mostly two TSs, that leaves one more TS to use for breakfast or lunch, which probably means you wouldn't really use the lounge much.

Let us know what you end-up doing and good luck planning:)

Mid trip update, 6 days to go. The WL is the best Disney resort we have ever stayed at hands down. The service here has been exceptional in all regards. Rossi, our housekeeper, is also simply THE BEST.

Really. This is our 1st WL stay, and our 9th Disney overall. We absolutely love it here, and can't even imagine having to leave next Thursday!

I think we have found a new home resort. We are also now considerig a Villas DVC resale. (previously looking at Kidani).

Thanks for a great and informative thread all!

We went up there on the 18th of July to watch the fireworks! The view was AWESOME ! Here are some pics of the fireworks...sorry they are not great.

You really can see everything from up there!

Hello disneywatcher,

How did you ask for this? I just called down there to try and make arraignments to surprise my DG, or at least find out who to specifically to talk to when we arrive but was told that the only people that get to go up there is the "Flag Family" who go up early in the morning and raise the flags. I would really like to surprise my DG with this, especially since she's such a Disney Pro, it would be so nice to give her a treat that she didn't know about.

Thanks in advance. :thumbsup2

Mike

You're welcome and it's great to read that you love the Lodge. There have been so many positive reports lately, which is great! Sounds like you'll have to book a BB or start thinking soon about your next stay at WL;)

Hopefully, disneywatcher will reply to you. Until then, I was told that it can only be arranged at check-in and usually for special occasions. A CM has to escort you from the CL floor up to the roof at 9:45, but they can only take one group at a time, I believe. In our case, the GM of the WL arranged it mid-stay for us as a surprise (we never requested it), but thunderstorms canceled it.

When you call the WL (or any WDW Resort), you're actually calling a call center in FL, so sometimes you don't always get the best info. Just explain at check-in that you want to surprise your DG and ask if there's availability during your stay. I hope it works out for you, Mike:goodvibes.

Quick FYI fro everyone:

From http://www.screamscape.com/html/walt_disney_world_resort.htm#General

(8/18/11) Screamscape source tell us that Wilderness Lodge will begin to undergo its own 18 month long refurbishment project starting later this year. Lots of new wallpaper and carpet will be replaced all over the resort. The rooms will receive some nice makeovers as well from what I’m told, with new carpets, bedding, and a focus on redoing the bathrooms as well. Don’t worry, the resort will stay open during this process, they will just close sections down one at a time to work on them.

We heard rumors of this from a CL guest a few months back. Guess it is becoming a reality. Refurbs in the past have not affected guests other than closing room sections of the resort at a time. Maybe I'll get a new room in December. :rotfl:

Brian

Cool, we were there during the last refurb and got a "new" room during our stay then, we'll be hoping for one for our December trip also! :)

Very excited..... finally I was able to rebook our split trip into an entire stay at the WL - courtyard view with the AP discount :cool1::cool1::cool1:

That's great! Do you have all your ADRs booked?

I hope all our East Coast Lodgers are alright. We've got some wind and rain here in NOVA, but it's not that bad. It's a good day to plan a WDW vacation:surfweb: Be safe everyone - no matter where you are:goodvibes

We returned from WL yesterday (Friday) due to Irene. We were scheduled to stay until Sun. We were in room 3022 overlooking a little pond complete with alligater! We could see the fireworks through the trees. Our room was pristine.

The boats & buses were excellent. Weather was very hot with typical afternoon t-storms. The pool was fun and we always found a chair. The CM's were friendly. I was pleased to see how much Roaring Forks has improved from our stay years ago. You can now get made to order sandwiches instead of the pre-packed ones. They also had burgers, flatbreads, chick nuggets and a pasta of the day. B/fast was good, pancakes, mickey waffels, sandwiches, platters, etc.
