What does IPO stand for and can you tell me how to contact them? Also, did you also make requests on your reservation itself?
Itinerary Planning Office. They are your pre-arrival POC when you have a booked Club Level reservation. If you aren't booked in a CL room, you would instead place your request in your reservation by calling the WDTC/CRO.

Magical Express booklet arrived today!!! How can something as simple as a piece of mail make someone smile so big!!!
That piece of mail is just the start of your WL/WDW adventure:hyper:. I was excited when my magnet arrived:rotfl:

4 more days!!!:cool1: I can hardly stand it--I need this vacation SO bad!

I put in my room request with the IPO office. I requested 2 different specific room numbers OR a courtyard view. What do you think the odds are of getting one of the two rooms???
Hopefully, they haven't already assigned your room. Rooms are usually assigned as soon as your reservation is dropped into the resort's system, at about the 5-day mark. If the Room Assignor has already assigned your room before seeing your request, you can just ask when you check-in upstairs if one of your requested locations is available. You have a very good chance of getting a CV room, but specific room numbers can be more difficult, especially if they're already occupied when you arrive.

If it ever happens for you (and I hope it does someday), I must warn you it is addicting. We visited WDW for the first time in 2008 and upon checking into the front desk at the WL the cast member smiled and said, "you are going to have a very magical visit with us." and then informed us that we were being upgraded to CL. I had no idea what it was at the time. Ever since that day we have done nothing else but CL. Three times at the WL, once at the YC, and this upcoming June the CL at the Contemporary. I'm sure I will enjoy the Contemporary, but the WL will always be my favorite resort and the one I will go to most of the time. :goodvibes
That's a great memory and you're right, it is addicting, but for us, thus far, only the OFC seems to be addicting.

DD and I tried out our first CL at YC/CL in 2010 when DH was deployed and we didn't really like it. The lounge was tiny, seating was hard to get, no view from the lounge and the food service area always seemed crowded. The staff was excellent, but the experience left us feeling meh. DD and I then tried the Atrium Club and felt meh about that as well. The lounge views are amazing and we love the decor, but again, not much seating and much of the staff at that time were not friendly/helpful. A few months later, DD and I booked WL for Christmas 2010. Much to our surprise, we were generously upgraded from a Woods View room to a Courtyard View room on the 5th floor with CL access. Being upgraded to the Presidential Suite in 2011 was the most amazing upgrade ever for us and we were definitely hooked on the OFC at that point. We tried BWI's CL a couple of years ago, but we were left feeling the same way as we did about the YC. So far, nothing has won us over like the OFC.

Just some random CL thoughts. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming:surfweb:

:rotfl: Of course you miss the WL....so come on back! Ya know I'll be doing another TR on the Lodge, so I'm hoping to tempt you once again :teeth: Just a wild guess here, but I bet one of your changes will incorporate the WL at some point:rolleyes1

Hope everyone is staying warm today! A little cold down here in South Georgia...to cold for my bones ;)

Heather
Yay for your TR!!

We just upgraded our reservation from POFQ to WL. We will be staying from May 18th till June 1st . We're super excited!!

:cool1: Nice!!!! And a super long trip, too:banana: I do love a good upgrade ;) DH gets a little miffed at times when I pull one of my upgrade stunts. But it's all for family fun, right ;)

For those of you who travel with babies, do you use a stroller or baby carrier? Or both? We will be taking a City Mini stroller, and I just bought a Beco Gemini carrier. I am not used to a baby carrier yet, so just wondering what everyone else does? My daughter will be 8 months old when we go to Disney. Also, if you use a baby carrier how do you tote around a diaper bag for things you will need during the day? Do you use a baby carrier, then have hubby tote around the diaper bag? Thanks in advance for any tips!:cool1:

Hey Disney Mommy,
We'll be going to WDW in April with my 15 month old. I'm planning on bringing out stroller (city select) and the have the baby carrier (ergo baby) in the cargo area of the stroller. That way we can stow out diaper bag in the stroller and then use the baby carrier for standing in line, etc. So we'll always have a stroller with us as a "home base" for baby supplies. And if DS goes down for a nap, we can put him in the stroller rather than just have him nap in the baby carrier.

I wish today were 2/25 instead of 1/25! Can't wait to be back at Wilderness Lodge and the OFC!

Spent this morning planning my son's birthday party at a friend's art studio here at home on the Saturday before our trip. We will tell him what our present is (the trip to Disney!) at the end of the party to give him a few days to process it before jumping on the plane.

It has been nice keeping this a surprise from him. It has helped me not to obsess so openly about the trip which keeps my husband very happy, too!

We arrived this morning at 11:00am without any travel problems. We were met outside the door by a CM who looked totally frozen, since it was only about 50 degrees out. It took about five minutes for check in and our room was ready. I couldn't wait to see it. I was really happy that we finally got our open balcony. The sun was streaming in the balcony window when we walked in. It felt very warm and inviting, especially after the cold and dreary winter weather we have had this year. I just love the location. Our courtyard view room is located very close to the bear face rooms. We can see Bay Lake from the balcony. I'll post some view pictures tomorrow. And I will post the room number after we check out. We had a really nice afternoon at MK. We spent most of our time back in Frontier land and Liberty Square. We ended up using the fp+ s I had scheduled weeks ago, and were glad we had them. Standby lines were at least thirty minutes. Even though it was only about 57 degrees today, the sun felt great. Tomorrow will be colder. They have some of the plants covered up to protect them from the frost. The buffalo topiary just outside of the WL gate is covered up, as are a lot of the flower beds over at the GF. Since we had a big lunch we decided to go to the Territory Lounge for dinner. I was able to knock two more things off my "to do" list, the cheese fondue and the berry cobbler. My husband really liked the cheese fondue. He would definitely have it again. We also had some edamame, which was good, and healthy, too. ;). Then came the best part, the berry cobbler. Oh my, was this good. We shared one but I think we could have each eaten our own. The ice cream was fantastic, the cobbler part had a tasty, crispy edge, and there were plenty of warm blueberries under it. Yum. Tomorrow we are planning to go to Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch just so I can have the Ooey Gooey Toffee dessert, but this berry cobbler is just as good, but in a "berry" different way. ;) As we were seating in the Territory Lounge, full of fondue, edamame and berry cobbler, I told my husband that being at the WL just seems to make me happy. It was a long day which started with a 3:15am wake up and zero degree temperatures and was ending so nicely. We had just enough time to run back to our room for our coats before the fireworks started. Since it has been a busy day we turned in early. We can see the Electric Water Parade from our balcony, which is nice. I'll see if I can find out if the VWL are being rehabbed and I will let you know. :) Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
Yeah!!! Thanks for checking on the status of the villas!! Enjoy your trip!:)

We just upgraded our reservation from POFQ to WL. We will be staying from May 18th till June 1st . We're super excited!!

I just switched our reservation from POFQ to WL also. This will be our first stay at the Lodge and we're very excited!!
This will also be our first trip without our boys. I'm not happy about that part but we knew it was coming. They have been resisting for the past few years!!
They will be 24 and 21 by the time our trip rolls around so it looks as though they have "outgrown" our annual Disney trip. Very sad...
We'll be there May 22-31.

Carla

Oh wow, how do you make room request? When and where?
Just call the central reservations number 407 W DISNEY anytime to add the request to your reservation. The rooms are assigned a few days to a week prior to your trip, but you. An add the requests anytime before that so there's no need to wait.

It sounds like you are set with the City Mini and the Beco. We tried five other strollers before we found the mini and love it for Disney. We go to DL a lot and like that setup. For the other essentials we carry a comfortable backpack that either of us will wear or we can hang it from the stroller handle with a Mommy hook. Have fun!

Reading about all the upgrades, DH and I are hoping for some pixie dust :D

But we are just happy to be there too. We got a huge pixie dusting on our last visit in April which is the reason we have come to know and love WL. We were upgraded from POR River view to WL Courtyard View when we arrived :)

We can always hope and dream.....

I just booked a CL room from 2/19-2/27. So excited!

I'm dying to know.....what are your "upgrade stunts"?? :rotfl:

We have only booked Standard view, and have been lucky enough to get upgraded to a Courtyard view on our honeymoon and Woods View rooms the last two trips. We have never asked for an upgrade, just taken the room we were assigned. We might have helped our chances with our room requests, which were "high floor and open to lobby" which lead to a non-standard view room, but I think the biggest factor is that we visit at low crowd times. If they can meet your requests they will do so.

I really see how location and view are personal preferences. We have found that for us, we enjoy having a room that opens to the lobby more than we enjoyed having the Courtyard view from the balcony. We aren't sensitive to noise, so that's not a problem for us. We also don't spend a whole lot of time on the balcony, but we do enjoy having something to sit and watch out there in the mornings. We have found that we love watching the park buses come and go in the early morning.

I think the biggest thing is to book the minimum level you would be happy with, and then anything above that is just pixie dust. :thumbsup2

Which courtyard views are open to lobby? I thought those are wood view or standard?

For those who have stayed in a standard, woods, and a courtyard view, did it really make a huge difference for your trip? Have you ever booked standard and been upgraded before you got there or did you maybe ask for some pixie dust? If you asked how did you go about it? I've stayed in all three and then I enjoy the courtyard view I'm not so sure it made a difference in my stay. How do ya'll feel?

We had a standard room booked during the busy Thanksgiving week this past November and were upgraded to a courtyard view! Loved overlooking the pool, and we were so excited! Have a standard view room booked to come back in July so hoping for some more pixie dust!

Which courtyard views are open to lobby? I thought those are wood view or standard?
The "Bear Face" rooms are on the 4th and 5th floor on the East side of the lobby. They have balconies that face to the East directly towards Bay Lake and are considered courtyard view. There aren't many of them, but we consider them to be the ultimate.
