It is effectively part of Artist Point, and is right between Artist Point and WCC, right at the top of the ramp. We missed it on our first trip too, and still haven't gotten anything there. Sounds like we have been missing out.
Thank you! We ate at Whispering Canyon and of course at Roaring Forks, but didn't have enough meal credits for Artist Point. We walked that ramp multiple times a day-thanks for the reply! I am dying to try that cobbler now!

Here now and sitting in the gorgeous lobby listening to the spring while I let the family sleep in a bit. We arrived yesterday around 1:30. I had requested that our one bedroom villa be on the first or second floor but when we arrived the first floor room they had assigned us was not ready. The CM asked if I would mind a different floor and I said no so she called housekeeping and asked which one bedroom would be done soonest. We ended up on the fifth floor...waited about a half an hour for the room to be done. The refurbishments look much better in person than in photos, there is more texture and detail than is picked up well in a photo. The kids loved the Bambi pillows.

We spent some time yesterday at the pool which was heavenly. Water was a great temp. and it was not too crowded. We easily found chairs at 2:30. Went to Epcot about 5 and did a FW rides in Future World before dinner at Via Napoli.

A great first day with the only snag being my hubby lost his Magic Band in Epcot. So a visit to guest relations and another here with the concierge. But all is taken care of now. For getting the kids up at 3:30 AM I would say the day exceeded my expectations. No one got cranky and although we were all fired for our late dinner...we still enjoyed it. Best pizza ever.

Hitting Magic Kingdom today and then back to relax and explore the lodge. Dinner tonight at Artist Point.

Thanks to all who contribute to this thread. I read it every day for weeks in advance of our trip.

Good morning. Starting day three here at the Lodge. A wonderful stay so far. Great 5th floor room overlooking the quiet pool. Transportation has been super. FP+ has been a great success for us. No better place than WL for a relaxing vacation. A full trip report when we get home.

Thanks for posting your trip updates. I really enjoy hearing how people's trips are going. :goodvibes

So jealous!! Enjoy! :goodvibes

We recently came back from our stay at the Beach Club. We had a room with a daybed and it was definitely bigger than a room at the WL. Some of the larger size in the BC room is in the hallway and the sink area. The BC sink is a little wider, the floor area there a little bigger, and the hallway a little wider. The BC bedroom area is a little bigger. There is more open area between the outside wall and the bed, and the open area between the beds and the dresser is wider. But the WL rooms have been recently refurbished and they look great. :thumbsup2 The bunk bed room should give you a little more floor space than a room with two queen beds. The WL doesn't have rollaway beds, since the rooms are too small to fit one. I don't find the WL rooms small at all, but they are too small for a roll away bed and they are smaller than the BC rooms. :) We like both resorts. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info, think we should be ok in the WL room then, we do travel with a lot of luggage (from the UK for 2 weeks) we did struggle with storage space in the BC so we will have to travel light next time!

Do you know if there are any 'secret' exit/entrances at the WL like there is at the BC. If your at the far end of the resort next to the boat dock for example, can you exit at the end of the corridor or somewhere along that end instead of going all the way back to the middle of the resort then have to walk all the way back past the pool to get to the boat dock (confused myself now!!). Same for the other side near the bus stops, is there an exit near there, or do you have to go in and out by the front and rear main entrances?

We just loved the BC last year and am afraid to stay anywhere else now! But I really want to try the WL, a split stay is prob not going to be an option as DH does not like to move, once he's put his stuff away, that's it for the 2 weeks!!

With my girls ages being so far apart, DD11 loves Epcot that's why we strayed BC last year, it was all about her, next time we go it will be more focused on MK for the youngest DD3 and will prob spend most our time there.

Thanks again.

WDWKOOK. Welcome to the WL/VWL thread! Nice to have you with us. I understand your dilemma. It's so nice staying at an Epcot Resort so that you can easily walk right to DHS and Epcot. We've solved this by sometimes doing a split stay. We stay a few nights at an Epcot Resort (we prefer BWI and YC), then we head on over for breakfast at the OFC or WCC and stay around 8 nights at WL. Would you be able to do a split stay? WL does not provide rollaways due to room size constraints, but some guests do bring their own inflatables. I think the bunks would work perfectly for your family. I'll have to look for the bunk bedroom photo and I'll post it later.

Thank you for your reply,

I would do a split stay but DH is not likely to agree! He likes to stay in one place but I see it's a good idea to get the best of both. I'm coming round to the WL and would love to see some pics of the bunk room if you've got some, thank you.
Will ask my girls nearer the time what they like the look of, I've already shown DD11 the bunk bed and she loved it but I just know when I ask she'll prob say BC!

I think the pool will also be more manageable at the WL as we found the BC with our then DD2 was too big, she wanted to follow the eldest and DH had to carry her round the pool all the time, we actually didn't spend as much time in the pool as we would have liked because of DD2, we found it easier to walk the parks all day!!

At least the WL is one area and I can see them both from one spot. Oooooh decisions decisions, at least I know I can come on here with my most 'important dilemma in the world' and everyone understands me, my friends think I'm mad for this to be my main concern in life at the moment!! But they are not disney mad like me!

Thanks again

My husband feels the same way about a split stay, he won't even consider it. The decision of whether or not to stay at BC or WL is hard for us, too, since we like them both.

WL is a great place to stay if you want to spend a lot of time at MK. The boat ride to MK is quick and relaxing. It is a nicer boat than the Friendship boats at the YC were. The boat is more interesting because it goes past the CR and you can see the Poly and GF off in the distance. And then the approach to MK is rather exciting, especially for the kids. I think your 11 year old daughter will enjoy it.

There is also a boat that travels between WL, CR and Fort Wilderness. It is a nice way to get to CR if you want to catch the monorail. We found that this was a good way to get to the monorail resorts for our dinner reservations. There is also a bus to MK which is direct and really fast. :)

Secret entrances are my specialty. ;) I was dragging my husband all over WL on the last two trips, looking for shortcuts in and out of the resort. There are some staircases, fire exits really, that open out to the inner courtyard or open to the Hidden Springs pool by the villa. But which ones you use would depend on where your room is located. For example, on our December trip we were in room 3104, which is close to the lobby near the Mercantile shop. It is also close to the bus stop. Straight across the hallway from our room was an exit that took us down to the second floor, which was lobby level. We used this staircase instead of the elevator all the time when we wanted to take the bus or go to the lobby. We also used this exit if we wanted to take a shortcut to get to Roaring Forks. If you look at the room map you'll see that there is another elevator about mid-way down the south wing. That leads to a shortcut to the inner courtyard for the pool, the boat, and the path to the beach.

If you are in the north wing, then you will mostly be using the elevator near Roaring Forks for everything, boats, buses, food, etc, unless you are on a low enough floor to use the stairs. There are some that open up close to the boat dock. But, to answer your question, you won't have to always come all the way back to the lobby to get to your room, unless, of course, your room is overlooking the lobby, then you would go that way. :)

This wonderful map by GrandCalifornian doesn't show where the exit doors are, but they are located at the ends of each corridor where you see an empty space on the map. For example, there are exit doors between the following rooms:

on the south side:
between 122 and 123 to go to inner courtyard for pool, boat, Roaring Forks, beach, etc
between 120 and 130 - to go to Hidden Springs pool
between 165 and 166 - beach, etc

on north side:
between 043 and 041-that is where Roaring Forks and the ramp to the lobby is located
between 003 and 005 - very close to boat dock

near the lobby:
between 061 and 067 - that exit is right off the lobby, next to Territory Lounge and the top of the ramp
just to the left of 100 is the exit to the bus

Apologize if this has been asked, but do the TVs in the rooms (not villas) have USB or HDMI ports that work? I'd love to bring my son's external hard drive with all his movies to watch after a long day at the park...I ask if they work because some hotels don't give you remotes that allow you to move between the inputs:(
Thanks!

Are you staying in a Deluxe Room again?

Hello from the World! Here now, but not staying at WL. But, we did stop by the Lodge last night for dinner at Artist Point. It was EXCELLENT. Two great dinners in a row there, including our visit this past October as well. Great views of the pool, Bay Lake, etc., and we really enjoyed our meal. I had the mussels and the trio (bison filet, venison filet, and boar sausage), and my wife had the mushroom soup and scallops with risotto. We shared a vanilla creme brûlée, which was on the house for my wife's birthday. It was probably our second best meal of the trip behind Yachtsman's. Would definitely recommend anyone who is staying at WL to give it a try. :thumbsup2
Sounds like a wonderful dinner. Can't remember if this is a land/sea split? How has the rest of your vacation been?

Add me to the Lodgers Log June 27 to July 2!
You've been added:)

Here now and sitting in the gorgeous lobby listening to the spring while I let the family sleep in a bit. We arrived yesterday around 1:30.

Thanks to all who contribute to this thread. I read it every day for weeks in advance of our trip.
Thank you for posting LIVE! I guess I can infer from your post that the VWL rehab is officially over since they were going to assign you to a 1st floor room? Would love some villa photos if you get a chance. Have a wonderful dinner at AP!

Good morning. Starting day three here at the Lodge. A wonderful stay so far. Great 5th floor room overlooking the quiet pool. Transportation has been super. FP+ has been a great success for us. No better place than WL for a relaxing vacation. A full trip report when we get home.
Happy retirement! Looking forward to your TR and maybe a room photo or two:hyper:

My DH doesn't mind splits because DD and I do all the packing and unpacking so there's not much left to do other than stuffing it all back in the car and heading over to the next resort. But, I understand splits aren't appealing to everyone. I feel like we have two different vacations when we do them which is kind of fun.

SAB is fantastic, but it can feel really crowded, it's sometimes hard to get a place to sit and there are often lines for the slides. I find WL more relaxing and I like how the beach is an extension of the back of WL and it doesn't share any amenities unlike YC/BC. All the rooms at WL have a balcony and there aren't any rooftop views like YC/BC has.

I can appreciate how hard it is to make a decision about where to stay, there are so many great choices and you can have many varying opinions just in one family. It's so much fun choosing a resort, but it can also be stressful. Keep us posted.

No apologies necessary and that's a good question and I hope someone will correct me here if I'm confused, but there are ports and plugs on the table, but I don't recall seeing them on the TV, but you may have to open a door to see them which I've never done. There is a DVD player connected to the TV which runs off the same remote.

Ports and plugs are underneath the mirror on the table:

I don't think you can tell much from this since it isn't close enough to the TV:

Not WL related but......You plan and hope things go well. I made 815pm reservations at LaHacienda de San Angel for dinner tonight. We were told there are only a few tables for two in the "show viewing" area. When seated were at the window with the lake right in front of us. We just had the best view EVER for Illuminations. Pixie dust everywhere this trip.

Yep, the cobbler is offered at TL. Did you make any location requests?

No, my only request was an enclosed balcony (I know, I think I'm the only one who really loves the enclosed balconies!). Looking at the room map posted earlier, I could end up in the same area I've had the last few times that I actually booked woods view (overlooking the villas) but it would be nice to have something different since I have specifically booked courtyard this time. I've had the exact same room on my last three stays at WL, and the only request I made was the enclosed balcony!

I haven't really had a bad room at WL, so we'll see what happens. In my experience at the various Disney resorts, they seem to give the better locations and views when you stay longer - and this will be a 10 night trip. I've had some "interesting" views on some of my one and two night stays - like a balcony shared by four rooms at YC overlooking the parking lot. I had a roof view at BC where the roof was bordered by trees - so there wasn't even a view in the distance! But on a trip that short, it's not like I spent a lot of time outside enjoying the view anyway.

Add us to the Log as well! We are doing a split stay - starting at YC and then ending at WL - Nov. 4 - 8 :-) Super excited!!!

Whew! I finally finished reading all 107 pages of this post!!!! Lots of great info.

WDWKOOK - please add us to the log for 7/20-27. First family trip. My DH, DD8, and DD6 will be in one room. My sister will have a connecting room for extra space and my other sister will be with us (hoping on the same floor).

Booked our ADRs at 180 days and 6 am:

7/20 - boat ride to CR for dinner at Chef Mickey's then monorail to MK

7/21 - Epcot Day. Dinner at Rose and Crown

7/22 - MK Day. Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and dinner at BOG ( so excited to snag a 6:00 pm reservation there).

7/23 - DHS Day. Lunch/ Snacks at 50s Prime Time Cafe. Fantasmic dinner package at Mama melrose's

7/24 - AK Day. Dinner at The Flying Fish

7/25 - Day of rest. Probably head to DTD for some shopping. Dinner at WCC. Maybe head to a park after dinner or catch the movie on the beach.

7/26 - Last Day!! BBB at 8 am followed by CP at 10:20am. Dinner at CRT (again an awesome time!)

7/27 - heading back to Long Island

Now on to planning FP+.

Some random questions:

1) We have a reservation at WCC but thinking about Hoop-De-Do-Revue. Thoughts?

2) I know Anna and Elsa are moving to the MK Princess Hall. This is definitely on the top of DD6 list and I don't mind using a FP for it (I'm not much of a thrill seeker), but I wonder how late they meet. I'd like to book it for after dinner on our first night if possible but imagine the first FP MDE will let me book is 8-9 pm due to our 6:30 ADR.

3) Trying to figure out our Epcot Day. I know you can only FP Soarin or TT. I've never been on either of these rides and I'd like to know which is a bit tamer for me and DD6. I am not a roller coaster person (not even the kiddie coasters) and I'm not sure what to expect from these rides. I've watched a Youtube video of Soarin and while it looks very cool I can't tell if there are any sudden drops. I know this sounds stupid but years ago my sister made me ride the E.T. Ride (last time I was in Disney- yep it's been that long!) and I HATED every minute of it. I couldn't wait to get off and the rest of my day was totally ruined. I don't want to repeat that experience for myself or DD6. DH and DD8 are the adventurous ones. Me- I'll take the pool, a frozen drink and my Kindle any day.

TIA and I look forward to counting down the days with all of you.

Two more quick things:

1) if we go to DTD should we take the bus or a cab? I'm thinking the cab might be easier.

2) how big is the whole "pin trading" thing? I don't really remember it from past trips but I also don't want my girls tormenting me to buy them pins to trade. Would rather get a few now off ebay if needed.

Thanks again!

Will be at WL Aug 31-Sept 6th for my 40th birthday with just the hubs :lovestruc.

booked in a standard room now with DDP, should I upgrade to the conc level room?
