Lafayette Louisiana here....Way down south....no school last Friday due to ice/snow, no school yesterday and today for the same reason!!! Very Strange !! And the entire time I've been stuck inside, I keep looking at my Big Day ap ( which is showing 29 days!!!!) and thinking if I were there at WL now I could be enjoying that awesome fireplace!!!!

Right below you in Youngsville. :thumbsup2 It's been nice having all these extra days off like this. It's given me plenty of time to read up on WL while cooped up inside, perfect weather for trip planning :rotfl: This weather certainly has been crazy the past week.

We're an Epcot resorts family...love walking into Epcot for food and drink most nights. For a change, I booked one night in a studio at VWL in Dec. 2010, before moving over to BWV for the rest of my stay with my elderly mom. I thought she would love to see the holiday decorations. Anyway, something must have been up with the studio because we were bumped up to the WL, concierge. It was amazing!! We had a great time for that day and evening. I always said I would go back some day for the holidays. I just booked a VWL studio on rented points for Dec. 1-7 and am so excited.
So do you think you'll miss CL? Have you tried an Epcot/MK area split-stay? I'll add your dates to the Log:)

Can you add us por favor? May 18 - June 1
¡Qué bien! Did you book WL or VWL?

Oops duplicate post. :)
Should I add you twice? JK.

Am I understanding this correctly: the only gym at WL is actually at VWL?
We love Sturdy Branches. It's open 24/7 and at some point between August and December they got all new Nautilus equipment. They did remove some of my old favorites, but the new equipment is great and they have lots of cardio, too. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I have photos/info. HERE.

It's official. We just booked our weekend trip at WL May 2nd - 5th :woohoo::cool1:

This will be our first time staying here and we can't wait. WL always looks so amazing and now we finally get to stay there.

Fantastic info in the first couple of pages. Thanks for all the hard work that went into all the details and it's very well organized to find any info you need. It will definitely be very helpful in planning our stay.
Thank you so much for your comments about the information being helpful. I'll log your dates:thumbsup2

Can we request a view of the otter pond or is there another wording? I assume this is woods view. Also is the 6th floor a solid railing on the balcony? Tia!
Yes, if you've booked a Woods View room, you can request an Otter Pond view (and many do). Some of the 6th floor rooms do have solid railings, but not all. None of the 5th floor rooms have them though.

We are on our 7th snow day...4th in a row. Yesterday I spent some time looking at our spring break pictures from our VWL trip last year a d at dinner we were all talking about how much we are looking forward to our trip this April. For those checking out the lodge I thought I would share our list of things about WL in particular that we are eager to experience again.

My daughter (13) - pool, Roaring Forks Panini Sandwiches, the Electric Water Pageant, Boat instead of Bus to MK

My son (6) - pool, Cub's Den, marshmallow roast, riding the Magical Express to the resort

Hubby & I - villa room, massages at Sturdy Branches, Artist Point, pool/pool drinks, boat to MK/Cont., chocolate croissants for breakfast

I always get up before everyone make coffee and head for a walk around the grounds or to sit in the beautiful lobby on my IPad, Then I pick up some breakfast items from Roaring Forks and head back to the room to wake the crew for Rope Drop. We have a saying "only is Disney we have chocolate for breakfast."

We really liked the access to the health club. We do not do big workouts on vacation...especially park days. But a quick trip to the gym on our resort and water park days helps us feel less guilty about indulging in all the food on vacation.

Happy Snow day to all the teachers and students out there who are enjoying a day at home! Stay warm. Stay safe.
It's nice thinking about your past vacations and anticipating your next. This has been a long winter already, but April will be here soon!

Wow! So many snow days this year :worried: Are you children going to have to make up the days? I remember when I lived up North, we would have to make them up.

Ahh! Messages at Sturdy Branches. My husband gets them there and he loves it. He has tried Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs and he likes them much better at Sturdy Branches. And, it is within walking distance of our room :thumbsup2
We've already exceeded our built-in snow days by two so that will take away two days off before spring break. After this week, everyone will have to go for 10 weeks straight until spring break, at least until there's another snow day;)

I had a fantastic deep pressure 80-min. massage last month:love:. I've always had great massages at SB and they cost less than going to either of the spas. You don't have all the spa frills and sometimes you can hear people who are 'loud lifters,' but the massages have been excellent. You need to get one next time::yes::

Hello Kook,

Looks like we are not going to make the August trip this year. :sad2: So, please take us off of the Log for now. If we go, it will most likely be the end of July now. Thanks!
Oh, no! What happened? Is this due to not being able to take vacation in August? At least you can re-book for July:worship:

Would you believe that we have been out of school for 2 days for ice and freezing rain??!! And we live in South Georgia...Savannah area. CRAZY!!!! My dear friend that lives in Holland, MI has been sending me pics of their crazy snow....over the mail box....and they've missed numerous days of school, too.

And I thought I was the only crazy fool to get up before sunrise  LOVE my early mornings at Disney. It's so peaceful and quiet...almost like another world. My camera always accompanies me as I take quite a few photographs while on vacation ::yes::....quite a few.
You know darn well you aren't the only crazyearlymorningresort prowler;). How many photos do we each have of steam coming off of pools?:rotfl:

Glad to hear they canceled your school because Atlanta sure made a bad call. What a mess in that area. What were they thinking:confused:

You can get used to it awfully fast. We only had a two-hour delay here in NoVA today. Happy planning:goodvibes

I know!! I keep trying to tear myself away from the boards, but it doesn't work.

Kook Are the free weights and plated weights still there? I see them in your pics, but I wasn't sure if the pics were Pre-update?

Unfortunately, our Cajun "Sneaux" day consisted more of icy roads and sleet!!!:lmao: Would have enjoyed seeing some actual snow falling!!!

200 miles north of you and we have no snow at all. None so far this winter. Are they going to cut your Mardi Gras days short, Easter break or tack on days at the end of the year. My son is at LSU and they have lost two days now to snow. We're supposed to head to FL the day after his last final exam, so I hope they take Mardi Gras instead of adding days at the end of the semester.

So do you think you'll miss CL? Have you tried an Epcot/MK area split-stay? I'll add your dates to the Log:)

:lmao: Since that night was my one and only CL experience, I doubt I'll miss it too much...although it was pretty awesome. I would definitely have considered a split stay, but the person I rented from only has VWL points. I'll probably miss walking to the Boardwalk Bakery for a strawberry cupcake everyday, but I'm really looking forward to the stay at VWL with the amazing holiday decorations.

Sneaux Day - Love it!

Free weights and plates for the Smith Machine are still there. The Back Extension/Roman Chair was removed and I think the Cybex Back Extension machine, too. The Cybex Ab. Cruncher was removed:(. I think they switched over from Cybex to Nautilus. The Lat. Pulldown is now part of a multi-function unit. I think the Gravitron (for doing assisted pull-ups) is gone, too. But, it's still a great gym and everything is nice and new.

Silly me! :upsidedow How could I forget?! You're a crazearlymorningresort prowler yourself ::yes:: And I'm guessing between the two of us we probably have a couple hundred pics of steamy pools :rolleyes1

They weren't...! Absolutely ridiculous. Always better to err on the side of caution. Glad I don't have to answer to that bad call.

From what I'm hearing for elementary/high schools they won't have to add anymore makeup days because they had enough emergency days built up already. Not sure about college days though, that's a little different. I guess not having any days off for Hurricanes helped out with having to take snow days this week. :lmao:
Hopefully it works out for your trip and if they have to they can make up days somewhere else.

Hey Dis'ers just jumping in to scream a little because I am getting almost 50% off our room in April!!! I was booked under AP rates @ 35% and came across the cheaptickets deal and bam, now we are paying $235 a night for WL. $235/night for a deluxe, thank you very much!

As if this morning, no days will be made up Because our school district tacks on extra minutes each day as. "Emergency" time just in case we have weather problems. Usually those problems are hurricanes.!!!!

We just heard from the school system that no school tomorrow either because some if the bridges and overpasses are still too dangerous for traveling. Not sure if that day will be made up yet.

My oldest daughter is at LSU also!!! She isn't sure what the plan will be for makeup either!!!

Thanks Kook!!! So nice to hear from someone who know their way around a gym!!! I was going to write Smith machine earlier, but figured you wouldn't know what the heck I was talking about!!!!

I had a question about transportation to the MK in the morning. What time does the boat start running in the morning? Looks like only 30 minutes before park opening? Just trying to see if we could take the boat in the morning and still make it in plenty of time for RD or if we are better off taking the bus in the morning and using the boat for afternoon breaks and at the end of the night.

I would take the bus to the park (5 minutes tops-no stops!) then enjoy the boat ride home!

Lol Kook

WL not villas, and as long as I don't have to pay twice then yes you add me twice. :)

While driving to school today ( 13 degrees, a bit of snow, and a 2 hour delay), I was listening to one of my park music CDs-AK- and thinking about how hot AK will be in August! It didn't warm up my feet, but it did make me smile to think of being there.
Thanks for all the details about the gym. There are a couple of gym rats in our family ( not me!) and it's nice to know it's there if they want it.
Stay warm and safe everyone!

Does anyone happen to know if there are any non handicapped accessible king bed rooms? I ask because we'd like to request a king bed but wouldn't want to be without a tub.

Curious as to which CDs you have???

There are non handicapped king rooms, but being willing to take a handicapped room increases your chances of getting a king bed. This happened to us on our honeymoon. We had requested a king room, and were given a handicapped room. We asked about switching to get a tub, and all that was available were rooms with queen beds at the time so we stuck with the handicapped accessible room. In your case I'd request a tub as your first request and a king bed as your second request. They will do their best to meet both requests, but there are no guarantees.

What view did you get?

We checked in yesterday and we DID get EXACTLY the room I requested on CL!!! It's awesome! We are in 7127 and the CM told us it's one of the best views in the building. Yay me!

We are LOVING WL....it's just beautiful. Even though it was chilly and rainy today, we loved the walk down to the boat dock. SO pretty!
