Well, I do have another complaint. Our magic bands were almost useless trying to get the front gate to open whenever we went off property in our car. I literally had to hang out the window, take off the band and press it really hard to get the gate to lift. The security guard stood there and just watched me struggle.

Ha, DH had the same problem. After the first time through the gate, he figured out that he needed to pull up REALLY close so he wouldn't have to perform Cirque du Soleil type maneuvers to get the gate open. He was much more successful the 2nd time around.

I was hoping I could ask some advice from everyone...we have a standard room booked for BWI 10/18-10/26 and I'm struggling if I should upgrade to water view. It is our 10th anniversary (that is noted on our reservation) and we are the type to use our balcony and have cocktails out there and eat breakfast. I picked the BWI over BC because of the balcony and view issue at BC. Are the standard views nice at BWI? I really don't want to be looking at a parking lot but nice garden views are ok. I'm struggling bc there are only 2 view categories listed. Thanks for your help:)

We had the same learning curve. It is easier to whip off the MB, match it with the sensor, and drive thru.

We had a standard view last visit. It was a view of the gardens and quiet pool area. It's very green, very pretty and quiet. I've had the boardwalk view 3 times prior and wondered if I'd be disappointed with the garden view--I wasn't--it was very pleasant.

Just checking in...
BWI is my favorite resort (just edging out YC/BC), but this summer, due to our travel party's preferences, we're not doing a BWI stay. I read somewhere on this thread about some renovations of the CL? Any word on what's being done? Are they renovating the rooms themselves? I'd hope not as I love the current decor! I think it's perfect, and so elegant!

No renovations to the rooms, just the lounge.
Even the cast members don't know exactly what will be done, but probably new carpet, and hopefully they will put in a small cooler for soft drinks to eliminate that ugly looking rubbermaid tray containing the sodas.
There was some speculation the desk area where the cast members sit in the lounge will be taken away giving room for more tables. They were also hoping that because their kitchen area is so small that they would take out a room to give them a larger kitchen and a storage area so that they wouldn't have to walk all the way (and back) to the elevators for food replishment, etc., but no one knows for sure.
With the lounge closed for a month you would assume that the renovations would be substantial, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

My boyfriend and I are planning his first trip (my 5th) to WDW October 26-November 3. We can't wait! We've never been to BWI. We 'll get a standard view.

I'm anxious to read through the thread and learn :)

I'm thinking that BWV, standard view is still the reigning champion when it comes to value for your DVC points. Low cost, easy walk to 2 parks, close to both a quiet pool and the main, and near rec hall. We had a first floor 1-bedroom. It was nice, except for the mold in the bathroom. We loved sitting on the patio in the mornings... There are some SV rooms that have a pleasant view of the water. My son absolutely loved walking up and down the boardwalk at night watching the performers.

We have just finalised our general plans and were really pleased to find PM EMH at DHS on one of the two nights we are staying at BWI :D

That day the plan will be Epcot morning, then pool time, dinner at Kouzzina and evening at DHS :D

Most of my favourite rides are at DHS so we are hoping to get extra rides where we would otherwise be limited with FP+. Hopefully crowds should be slightly less by this time (August 18th).

Does anyone have a contact for a manager at BWI? We just got back from a wonderful stay there, and I would like to tell them about the best housekeeper we have ever had at a resort. I didn't get a chance to say anything while we were there, but I think credit should be given when it is due.

Also, I'm going to post a review and pictures soon!

Thanks!!

Due to a nice expense check, we may upgrade to CL. Can anyone tell me what Cl does for your trip? All I know is you get the lounge with food in it.... :scratchin

Thanks!

If you arrive during hours that the lounge is open, you'll be able to check in there vs. checking in at the main desk, and get a little more individualized attention at check-in.

The concierge folks can also help with booking ADRs, tours, etc., if you're interested in that.

You won't have to go anywhere for "package pickup." If you have packages delivered to the resort from the parks, concierge will pick it up and take it to your room for you.

You can see the fireworks of Illuminations from the balcony of the club lounge.

In the club lounge, you'll get a continental breakfast in the morning, snacks throughout the day, wine & cheese in the evening, and desserts & cordials at night. There's a TV in the lounge, should you wish to watch TV there instead of your room.

On the Inn side, most of the standard views are of internal gardens and the quiet pool. The worse view you could get would be the Port Cochere, and it looks like there aren't too many units facing that way. You can see in the arial view on the first page, the Inn side is on the right.

If I have a deluxe club level room booked, what sort of view will I have? Anyone know?

It was answered already, but just to confirm, it's a guaranteed Boardwalk view. Those rooms are great.

Looking forward to the pics!! I don't have a contact, but almost every time we stay we get an email survey afterwards, and one of the questions is about exceptional CMs. :thumbsup2

Anyone have an events/movies list for February yet? Or anyone who's there that can share? Thanks!

Just checked in. Standard view. Just knew something was up when they got on the phone. Major pixie dust! Club level for first time ever! Hope wifey doesn't get used to it. Off to Mk on a magical morning..
