(CLOSED) Disney's BOARDWALK INN and VILLAS Information Thread ~2012~

I know this question has been posted back and forth regarding Luna Park Pool closing either Jan. 28th or Jan 2nd. But now that today is Jan. 4th, is it official that the pool is currently open and WILL close on the 28th?

We're scheduled to be there in 2 weeks. Thanks.

It's definitely the 28th. I arrived earlier today and went to check it out for myself. There were a number of guest swimming there. I asked a cast member who told me it wouldn't close till the 28th. She also mentioned how many guests were confused about the dates when they arrive.

Thanks for the photo of the temporary bakery! That is encouraging!

All of the baked goods are individually wrapped and everything looks good and fresh. There are sandwiches, cold drinks, containers of cut up fruit, small bags of mini carrots, small cups of applesauce and probably more that I didn't notice since I just took a quick look on the way back to my room.

Hello,

I am new to this thread and have just started researching the Boardwalk Inn. I seem to have read some conflicting info about the hotel, hoping someone who has been can help me out.
1. Do the rooms have queen beds or double?
2. A balcony is very important and reading that not all rooms have balcony's or just step out ones makes me nervous. Has anyone had experience with requesting a room with a full size balcony and not getting one?

Thanks

1. Queen, although conspiracy theorists will say Disney's queens are smaller than normal queens. (I'm one of these theorists. :) )
2. There are literally one or two rooms that don't have balconies, and if you got one of those, it should be easy to complain and switch. All other rooms have balconies at least big enough for the two chairs. Enjoy!

Thanks! That looks way more elaborate than I was expecting.

Anyone heading to Boardwalk in the next few weeks... If you are staying in a Villa, could you please let me know if the master bedroom closet (the one that is in the bathroom) is big enough to house a pack in play?

Our littlest one is 2.5 and did horribly sleeping in our room over holiday travels. I'm hoping we can fashion a mini room for her.

I have put the pack n play in the "closet...and my son called it his own "room" fits perfectly :)

We will be there in 5 days!!

where can the mugs be refilled? We usually filled at the Bakery...so now is it at the pizza window?

Headed there in 5 days...

....

I just measured a queen sized bed at VWL. 80" long by 60" wide. Standard queen sized mattress.

the first floor rooms have a patio instead. we had that the one time we stayed there, and really, really hope we get a balcony. we requested a higher floor. (we have a boardwalk view room). since we requested nothing else. hopefully we won't get the 1st floor.

some of the balconies have a half wall, so you have to stand to see much.. we had one of these at vero Beach, and I hope we don't get that either. we have a studio booked.

Thanks for checkinig this out for us especially since you are there:thumbsup2After I posted this question, I received a second letter in the mail from the IPO stating that the first letter sent to guests that the pool will be closing on Jan. 2nd was wrong and in fact it is open until January 28th.

This was really a confusing situation but it sounds like everything is now accurate regarding the 28th as the start of the rehab.

Take lots of pictures!! :goodvibes Are you staying in a regular CL room or a Deluxe? We go at the end of April and will be staying in a Deluxe room. I'm so excited!!

We stayed in a Deluxe CL room in 2009. Here are some pics!

Steeplechase Suite Balcony (directly to our right.) They actually let us in to tour the suite- so cool!

My husband on our balcony (no, he didn't purposely coordinate his shirt with the awning :rotfl2:) He's 6'5" if that helps give you an idea of the size of the balcony.

We were a little bummed with the 'dinosaur' TV, but we didn't even use it much, so no biggie.

Our room was the top left one with the blue awning. As you can see, you either get the small balcony, but close to the lounge OR a big balcony, but a floor below the lounge.

Those pictures are awesome!

Great, we'll be there in 2 days, staying Cl but now I want the deluxe. :rotfl:

:rotfl: It was FABULOUS to have all that room, however, I will say the only reason we were able to swing it was because they were offering the buy 4, get 3 free deal! :goodvibes I wish they'd go back to deals like that, and including suites & ALL resorts in the offers!!

At one point people were wondering if SAB would be open to BWI guests during refurbishment...The below is from Allears.net

2) WDW Boardwalk Luna Pool closure begins January 28th - early March. Shuttles will take Boardwalk guests to Stormalong Bay at the Beach and Yacht Club. Check with the Front Desk for times and current details.

This looks promising- still holding out hope for breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and not just pasteries! If anyone can scope it out during one of these upcoming mornings, I'd be so grateful! :thumbsup2

Hello all... we just booked our 1st stay at the BWI and i have a question... (1st of MANY i am sure)...do they do a nighttime movie anywhere? When we stayed at the Poly they had movies on the beach and we really loved that. Also, can you sit at the Boardwalk and see the fireworks from Epcot? Thanks!!!

Update: yes, there are sandwiches, same as were carried at Boardwalk Bakery, and even salads at breakfast offerings in the tent on the boardwalk. I even saw some cranberry orange muffins in the shape of Mickey ears.

Thank you so much! Given the somewhat limited quick breakfast options in the area, this is good news! :thumbsup2

Another question....what type of coffee maker is in the room on the Inn side? Thanks!!!
