Hello;
As they look to expand to expand Disneyland there are several attractions the have closed and just left an emtpy space. Much like the Submarine Lagoon until Nemo came in. Here is a list of those area's I am aware of and wondering if there are more or any plans to make use of them.

1) Motor Boat Cruise - Que is a smoking area.
2) People Mover Track and ride area's - Anything please...
3) Sky-way buildings - Storage right? I understand this is something that long bothered the Imagineers that they have not been able to get another attraction to get us back up in the air or at least replace with something else.
4) Chip and Dale Tree house, Nut Crawl - Just a sick joke with stairs going up the tree house and no way out and the Nut Crawl netted off.
5) Goofy's Bounce House and Donald's Boat - Okay scenery now the play elements are gone.
6) Old Mine Train area between Big Thunder and Rivers of America - Just trees now with the occasional piece of track from long ago.
7) Fort Wilderness on Tom Sawyer Island - Storage again right?

Thats what I have all areas where we used to frolic and play and Dinsey left them to rot in some cases(fort wilderness). Imagine the capacity if 7 new rides were added.

Thanks

I feel embarrassed to say I don't even know where some of these are. Chip and Dale Tree House? Where's that?

Also didn't know Goofy's Bounce House and Donald's Boat were not operational anymore.

Going to have to check out an aerial view of Mine Train. Didn't know there was still part of that sitting unused.

The queue for the old motor boat cruise is actually just a sitting patio not a smoking section (as a smoker I do have those well memorized ;) ) I think it used to be though. I've often wondered if they were going to do something over there again. The People mover is another obvious one, as you've noted.

I think they use Fort Wilderness for Fantasmic prep now, right?

I wish they'd give Goofy's house and Donald's boat the full "lived in" treatment like they did with Mickey's and Minnie's houses if they aren't going to utilize the play areas. Or take them out and put something else there. But as one of those whose favorite character is Donald F. Duck, I'd love it if they really decked his boat out like he lived there.

Chip and Dale's treehouse is back in the very back of Toontown, btw, ChrisFilm.

I don't know how much actual space they have around the old Mine Train to do anything? I'll admit I kinda like that some of those old tracks/tunnels are there. It's like a relic of yesteryear and reminds me of DLP history.

If you look across from big Thunder over the small water area you can see a tunnel and some old tracks, also look in the water for the flying fish. The area available is decent sized but covered with mature trees...hate to cut them out but nice area for a ride alongside river of america.

The most common areas discussed for expanding DL are the motor boat area and the area around Big Thunder Trail by the old Mine Train.

Can anyone shed some light as to why the aerial trams were taken out? I used to love those.

They can bring those back as an "Up" themed ride, that might be cool.

I think there were liability issues. I miss those too.

Chip and Dale's tree house is lame - it's straight up and back down again. My 5 year old was very disappointed.

And how about they shut down the awful Snow White's Scary Adventures ride?! Even on packed June days that ride never had a wait. We rode once and found out why.

I may be in the minority but there are parts of Snow White that I like. Now if they did the same thing but with Pinnochio I'd be cool with that. :)

Here is a YouTube video of the old Goofy's Bounce House

Chip & Dale's Treehouse used to have a ball pit and it doesn't anymore.

These dark rides are part of the heart of Fantasyland, and are part the reason I still prefer DL's FL to MK's. I hope they never get rid of these rides. I am excited about the possibility of them upgrading them, as rumored for the 60th anniversary though.

Love Snow White's Scary Adventure.....leave it there. It is gone at WDW, so like Mr. Toad, so glad I can see it at DLR

Incredibly low capacity, required a lot of cast members to run it, and wasn't handicap accessible.

I, too, miss the Skyway buckets or whatever they were called. I have very fond memories of them. Once, when riding from TL to FL, I saw a name spelled out in plants as we neared the FL chalet, and I decided it was the perfect name for my baby. Casey is now 34 years old, LOL.

I think it's both of these. It wasn't just to the loaders/unloaders and line movers that were required, but there were CM's required on rooftops as "spotters". The liability probably came with why these "spotters" were there. Floating above a crowd of people with little to no (perceived) accountability for your actions combined with unsupervised teenagers or people who act like teenagers probably resulted in a lot of problems. I'll leave you to your imaginations now.

If I recall correctly, I believe a young boy also jumped out and fell.

I do so wish they would come back. I loved going through the Matterhorn. I'm sure they could create cages that would eliminate the liability issues. Seeing the chalet loading area makes me sad. It was a slow loader though, but so is Luigi's and that didn't stop Disney.

Another dead area is the "studio" building to the left of Monsters in DCA.

The holes from the skyway in the Matterhorn have been mostly covered up now :sad1: Loved the skyway!
