Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have a recommendation on a close, off-property grocery store such as Albertsons?

We have rented a car for one day to get us from the airport to FW. We plan to check-in, get our golf cart and then head off to the grocery store so that we can stock the cabin. After all that is done, we plan to drive the car back to the airport and take some other transport (? Magical Express) back to FW.

Also, is there a charge to drive in & out of FW while we do all this?

Thanks.

There are a couple of choices .......Publix a favorite in Fla...Winn Dixie another good choice...and there is overpriced but nicely stocked Gooding's all right outside of downtown disney.......Talk about high prices.......No once you check in no parking charges......Hope this helps

About the rental car, what I would do is rent from Alamo or National, then you can return the car right on Disney property and not worry about going all the way back to the airport.

As a dropoff, choose Walt Disney World Dolphin or Walt Disney World Car Care Center.

There is no dropoff charge within the state of Florida.

Carol,

That sounds like a great option! We checked and found the Car Care Center is pretty darn close to FW. We are assuming they have busses or shuttles that can get us back to FW. Is that correct. :moped:

Also, where would you recommend we fill up our gas tank? Is there a gas station on property?

Thanks.

Yes, National/Alamo provides shuttles that will take you back to Ft. Wilderness.

Depending on when your trip is, depends on where you can fill up.

Right now the Car Care Center is under major remodel, expected to last through next spring, so the gas station there is not open.

There are two other gas stations on Disney property. There is one across the street from the Boardwalk, and one across the street from Pleasure Island.

There's a gas station at the car care station that has competitive prices (super walmart might be a little better). If you come down to 192 from the airport, there's a super walmart just up Poinciana (or Vineland?) near 192, not too far from WDW (you can mapquest it -- or get map from walmart site). You can also map the other nearby grocery stores. I prefer to avoid I-4 if possible, so other routes from airport appeal to me. Be sure to have some quarters handy for the toll booths. The Goodings near DTD is probably the closest to the property, but maybe not the easiest to stop at from the airport. Have you looked into the grocery delivery options (renting a car just for that may not be your best choice -- I prefer to have a car for the whole time personally, even when we stay onsite).

Thanks everyone! This is great information!
