Close email account temporarily to stop spam?????

There are a couple of spammers who are getting the best of us here.

Unfortunately, I think that somehow my DH visited some sites, or corresponded with somebody, where our email address is now on one of those 'email addresses for sale' lists. It is not widespread yet. The subject matter is always one of two subjects. But, it is a PITA!!!!!

Has anyone tried temporarily closing their email account in order to stop this type of spam? (hopefully to reopen with our original familiar email address)

Is there any chance that this would work?

When the messages to our address go back 'undeliverable', will our address eventually be removed from the lists?

I have the same problem...I get VIAGARA emails and Manhood enlargements and I'm not a guy...

I wish I could tell them all "I'm not the gender you are targeting".

I also get a lot of emails in Chinese, japonese and Korean etc with not so nice pics and I want it to stop...I have no idea how they got my work email either as I never use for anything I sign up for.
