DH stepped in some dog stuff yesterday and rinsed his sneaker off in the shower :confused3. He has been trying to unclog the drain since then :scared:. He's tried vacuuming with a shop vac, drano, vinegar & hot water, a drain snake, and some kind of foaming stuff. Nothing has worked yet :sad2:. What else should he try before calling a plumber?

There's something called 1 second plumber in the stores here. I haven't tried it but know of people that have had success with it.

Vinegar and baking soda make everything foam up...you can google it to find out how much of each. I do it every time the shower clogs up and never have to call a plumber. Good luck!

Boiling water mixed with dishwasher detergent worked for us once-worth a try.

Baking soda followed by vinegar. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and then flush with boiling water.

Is it a shower in a bath tub? If so run the snake down from the over flow cover just under the spigot.

If it is a stand alone shower he may need a different snake size.

Good luck!

Access to the drain underneath? Just pull the trap and clean out the gunk.

This a great idea if you have access.

I have a shower upstairs that I saw being installed. It will not be easy if it ever gets clogged to the point we can't use a snake and have to disconnect it.

Boil a big pot of water and poor it down..Let it sit in there for 5 minutes then try to plung it. But get this plunger first. There is a great plunger I got a walmart but I dont recall what its called. It has a round tube attached to the rubber plunger. At the top is a handle that you pump up and down and man it works like a charm.

When you get the water flowing through the pipe make a habit of dumping a big pot of boiling water down it at least once a month. I do this to all my drains.

Sorry, washing this off in the shower is disgusting. Why didn't he just use the hose outside? :confused3

Don't know about the OP, but our outside hoses aren't even on yet. It's still too cold. There was still snow on the ground last week. FWIW, I would have used paper towels, then rinsed them off in the laundry tub. But not everyone has a laundry tub. So, it's either a sink or a tub for many people.

whole box of baking soda then a whole bottle of vinegar! ... 2 kids that have pooped in the tub a number of times!! :rotfl2:
