Clinton's expected concession speech?

If this is her reason for staying in, then she is worst than I thought she was.

You know I think so too. I am tired of people making veiled references to Obama g3tting assasinated. It is very disgusting to think that people think because he is a black man he is somehow a bigger target. Trust me as many people have a rabid hate of hillary as some do of Obama. To think she might be sticking in the race just in case something happens is morbidly sick, though if that is her reason that probably wouldn't shock me either since she already alluded to it.

I am not saying I think this but I have talked to people who think that his life would be more in danger if she got the VP spot and took office with Bill and Hill running the show then if he picks someone else. The reasons they think this are not pretty and I don't even want to speculate that they are that evil and corrupt because I would like to think the conspiracy theories and the body count they have left behind them over the years is just a coincincedence. At least I hope so.....

That wasn't much of a concession speech was it? The only part about quiting was that she Congratulated Obama.

She should have bowed out gracefully tonight and asked for the party to unite behind the parties nominee.

I think she's dangling her voters over Obama's head and asking him to come and get them. That's part of her negotiating tactic. He has to go through her to get her voters. I don't like it, but what can you do.

You are comparing Ron Paul to Hillary??? you must be kidding. He was never a true contender for anything. Hillary and Obama have had a neck and neck race. It is political courtesy to conceed when the writing is on the wall.

Last night should never have been about Hillary. It was a truly historical night for America - a black man recieving the democratic party's nomination yet, until Hillary conceeds it is not a TRUE OFFICIAL victory. She should have conceeded.
She is about herself and nothing else. That was proved last night.

I would like to see the "rule" where last night was suppose to be about Obama

Again Hillary is SMART and she will concede when the time is right! It was not right last night and I happen to agree with her.

She will. I posted this on another thread. She has been quoted as saying she deserves a few days to get this right. I agree that she has earned a few days to reflect and think about what she wants to say and do rather than being rushed into saying and doing something "off-the-cuff."

She is meeting with her advisors today. I am sure that she will have her writers prepare a special speech that is fitting for the occasion. I am certain that when she speaks it will be gracious, well-thought out and intelligent.

There is no need to push her. She'll do the right thing.

I highly doubt that.

She is more likely angling for the VP slot. I don't blame her for that if she wants it.

But you are wrong about this, Obama did NOT get the democratic party nomination yet. That comes at the convention so in all fairness to Hillary, it ISN'T over yet and she DOES have more popular vote then Obama. Delegates have been known to change at the last minute too.

Do you live in the same country we do??? It is sick to think this is true but it IS true. He IS a bigger target because he is black (not that Hillary isn't a target because she is a woman) but there is still a lot of prejudice in the world. Unfortunately the educated ones that do not see an issue are not your typical assassin candidates.

A voice of reason! :thumbsup2

I am not saying that because I like Hillary, I just don't get why the big push she had to concede last night :confused3

When she feels it is the right time, then she will concede.

There is no rule, but it is just courteous to be gracious on a night which was more important to the other candidate. That is just how things should be done. If she wants us to unite last night would have been a great starting point, it makes no sense to me why she didn't use that opportunity.

I can not believe you really don't think Obama has a bigger target on his back then let's say McCain?
Now although I don't like Obama's politics, I don't want to see an attempt made on his life because first and foremost above anything else he is a human being!

Yes it is sad that people would want to see him dead because he is black, but that sadly is a fact! There are racist people, not just of blacks, but latinos, asians, gays, women. There are people who would like nothing better then to see this country 100% white man, with the woman working quietly in the kitchen.
Luckily though MOST Americans are not like that.

Yes, BOTH Hillary and Barack have huge targets on their backs because they are both a minority! Is is 'right', of course not but sadly it is a fact of life.

I am sure both Hillary and Barack are both aware of the risk they are taking when out in public.

And last night wasn't important to her? It was the end of a very long and hard fought campaign.

Why does everything have to be about Obama? She congratulated him on a great campaign.

She knows what she is doing, I have trust in her

He did not get the formal nomination, that is why he's referred to as the presumptive nominee. However, it would have been nice and the beginning of unifying the party if she had more kind words for Obama, not "we need the best candidate," a candidate is ready to go and that is Obama, he has earned it. Although delegates can change their minds at any time, I feel this year many democrat delegates feel this is the election that we must win, so they will not want to rock the boat and upset and further divide the party, they will not change their minds. Popluar vote means nothing more than a moral victory for Sen. Clinton, as we know it's all about delegates, even in the general election in November, it's not the popular vote but the electoral college which elects the president.

IF, HRC can claim the popular vote ( note the big if, so don't jump on my back about the caucus states), this will be very interesting. 8 years after the fact, you can't put a Democratic Party official in front of a camera without them talking about Al Gore winning the popular vote 2000, and the will of the people was thwarted by the electoral college system. It would seem a little bit hypocritical, if they gave no consideration to this.

Yes, but think about the Super Bowl, each team gets a lot of press coming up to the big game. Then the game is played, after the game the one who comes out on top gets to have the spotlight for a moment, the other team gives that moment to their opponent. Do you believe that Obama does not deserve the recognition for gaining the number of delegates to achieve the nomination? She said he ran a great campaign, but nothing more, in my opinion it would have made her appear gracious if she could at least have said something about his victory. I mean was it fair for Terry McAuliffe to introduce her as , "The next president of the United States"? I thought that was low class. I am sorry I just disagree with you on this.

I have had this fear for a long time. So many people in this country are still racist...it makes me sick.

Now why is everything about Obama supposed to be race related? I am a Hillary supporter and will not vote for Obama because I do not like his tactics, comments and indecisiveness, inexperience, etc. My voting decision will have nothing to do with his race and everything to do with the person.

But Obama did not officially "win" last night. Yes he got the delegates (with the help of Supers) but he is still not offically the nominee.

Besides on all the news channels, website pages guess who is the top story? Obama, so he is getting his shining moment.

It is a very easy conclusion to come to. Obama and Hillary, have so many of the same postions, and McCann is such a dramtic difference, that the only reason that you would NOT vote for Obama is becuase of something petty like race.

Its like saying, I want a peach, not a nectarine, so I will have pizza instead.

But the news spotlight is not on Obama alone....I have seen about 4 or 5 stories this morning on cable news and the Today show all about HRC, her campaign and her speech last night. She is getting her moment too.

And you are right, he has not "officially" won, but there are no more primaries, so when shall this end? I really don't want to see my party divided till August. He's closer to officially winning than ever before, HRC is no where near it....so why can't she join forces with her fellow dems and fight to get a dem in the WH???

For the record, Clinton only has the most popular votes when you count according to Clinton math! The votes of PR(why is nobody noting how hard the Clinton family campaigned here?), the votes of Florida and Michigan are included in the Clinton math. Caucus states are EXCLUDED in the Clinton math. This is much the same math used to claim budget surplus during the prior Clinton administration.
There is no class when the Clintons are involved.

No, it is more like I want a coke, not pepsi so I'll have a Dr Pepper, they aren't as far appart as you make it out to be.

Personally I hope she doesn't give up through the Convention.:stir:
