My favourite - Sound of Music - just starting on BBC1

I had to resist Sky+ it Joh ~ I've got it on DVD.

A true classic

This brings back bad school memories for me; my last school production I did was Sound of Music. I got stuck being one of the Nazis! It was then I realised I had no real acting talent at all (although, I did get to be Doodles in Bugsy. That's a nickname that will never leave me...)

A wonderful film - we watched the end of it but had fortunately sky+ it as well so now we can keep enjoying it!

Even though I have the DVD, thought I'd just watch the first 10 minutes or so. Of course 160 minutes later I was wondering where my afternoon had gone

I love love love the Sound of Music, especially when The Captain finally asks Maria to marry him. Sigh...

Just back from visiting a friend. We watched it and her DD (18 months) danced around in front of the TV every time a song came on. It was so sweet. Just shows the film appeals to every one.

Have any of you been to 'sing-along-a-sound-of music' they show the film and you get to sing along with it (without getting glared at ) They give you props to wave at the right moment and tell you some little factoids about the film.

The 12 of us wore nun's headresses (wimples?!) but there were some great costumes including someone dressed up as a brown paper package tied up with string.

It was a great night out so if it comes your way I'd recommend it - I'd love to go again myself.

I love so many musicals but just can't quite get used to Sound of Music

My DD2(25) and I sat and watched it - again - singing along at times, while DH watched something else (sport) in the study!

My favourite bit is when the nuns finish getting her dressed for the marriage ceremony and the cresendo of the music then. Wonderful! And as fresh now as it was in the 1960's.

Even DS who is 23 says it's his second favourite film - after The Green Mile.

I loved Sing-a-longa Sound of Music! A very resourceful friend made us all dresses out of curtains before we went, it was such a brilliant evening!

I've also managed to make it to Sing-a-long-a Grease, Moulin Rouge, Fiddler on the Roof and The Wizard of Oz.

They manage to bring together my two favourite things; singing and dressing up. (Although I wouldn't do Fiddler on the Roof again, dressing up as a Russian peasant is not as fun as it sounds )
